Tear's Big Project, Day 1

Characters: Tear Grants and YOU
Setting: The meadow on Floor 25
Format: Starting action, reply as you wish.
Summary: This is the first of the two days for Tear's offer of training in magic. There will be closed parts for certain people and a few open sections.
Warnings: Magic, fighting, Luke and Asch in the same area with pointy things, possible explosions?

[Tear made her way to the meadow thirty minutes early, a book in her hand as she made that way. She looked around at the empty space and grimaced. Why she'd thought this was a good idea, she'd never know, but she was determined to see if she could get the residents of this Tower of Horror to arm themselves in light of the recent problems with the administration.]

Closed for Luke fon Fabre (OU)
[If the redhead looked carefully enough, he'd see the brunette looking off into the distance at the flowers as she waited for the others to gather.]

Closed for Asch the Bloody, Sheba and Xion
[She'd decided to work on the redheads away from one another, but any friends they brought were fine. She'd expected to see the blond after their exchange on the network.

Closed for V/V, AU Link and Zelda
[She couldn't wait to introduce her two new friends to one another. Link had training with bows and swords. Between those, Tear was sure that V/V would find something she could use.]

Open Section for Magic Training
[This was perhaps the most anxious part of the entire ordeal—trying to figure out how the magics of so many worlds worked and to see if those interested could actually learn to use the Seventh Fonon, or if she was going to be spending her night telling them all how to do battle first aid.

Only time would tell, right?]

Open Section for Fighting Training
[As opposed to the magic training, this, this she had no issue with. She was a proficient with her staffs, maces and knives. Besides, she'd learned as a child that anything could be used as a weapon in times of need. And with the many sword wielders as she'd met since coming to the tower, she knew that this would be fine!]

[Luke figured that Tear would still be around when he got up to the Meadow floor, though he hadn't counted on actually being early. He let out a surprised noise, before jogging over to her.]

Hey, Tear!

[She turned to face the familiar voice, her cheeks already a little flushed as she remembered the way their talk on the network had ended so abruptly.]

Hello, Luke.

[Luke stopped just before her, flashing her a smile as something wiggled under his shirt, and Amnon's head popped up.]

Mieu~~

[Luke let out a sigh, pulling him out and setting him on his shoulder.]

Amnon says hi too.

[Tear covered her mouth with the hand not holding the heavy book as the cheagle appeared.]

Hello to you too, Amnon.

Is-is Yu-sensei coming as well? [If Luke respected this man enough to call him by his title, then Tear could do the same.]

[A small smile worked its way onto his face at her calling him sensei too. He reached back to rub at the back of his neck.]

I dunno. He probably saw your announcement, so he might stop by.

I don't know if he did, but he's more than welcome to come. I would like to meet him, if nothing else. [She looks down and sees the book.]

Oh, I think I mentioned that I had something to give you, yes? I found this, [She shoves it at him] in my trunk when I was looking for something...appropriate to wear. It might help you with your hyperresonance. I-I gave it to you once before.

[Luke let out a curious noise, turning the book over in his hands as Amnon crawled down his arm a little to sniff at it.]

Principles of Fonology?

This should help you with your hyperresonance, if you haven't learned to control it yet. I gave this to you after...Akzeriuth.

O-oh...

[He sobered quickly at that, looking down at the book in his hands.]

I-I've tried a couple times. I managed to control it enough once, but I haven't been able to duplicate it.

[Not that he would ever hope someone would be in that much trouble that he would need to. Tear, please don't ever end up caught in a barrier like Yu did.]

And, well, Asch tried... but he's Asch.

[She noticed the way his expression changed. Not that she blamed him.]

You know that learning to control it isn't going to just be a one-time thing. The first time I taught you, it took many sessions of us working together before you could control it completely. I'm not looking for perfection from you, Luke. And Asch is a jerk at the best of times.

Like I said, I wouldn't mind trying to teach you how to heal. It would be nice to have another Seventh Fonist with the ability to heal, but that's not really my goal with you right now.

Yeah, I know... you're always learning something new, right?

[He nodded to himself, trying to put thoughts of Asch and Akzeriuth out of his mind as he tucked the book under his arm.]

Controlling my abilities is the most important, right? I don't want to accidentally blow anything up.

Learning something new all the time is a good thing, yes. [She'd never heard that expression before, so it was curious to hear Luke say it. Perhaps it was one of those things he'd learned from 'Yu-sensei' since his arrival.]

First of all, let's talk about what your power entails. We can get to the control part in a moment. Do you remember that I once tried to explain to you how the seventh fonon was different from the other six?

Er... yeah, a little. The seventh fonon was a... mutation of the other six and the memory things, right?

[He wasn't entirely sure that was it; that boat trip had been forever ago.]

The planet's memory particles, yes, but they also have to do with sound. When Natalia and I called on the Seventh Fonon to heal, we're basically calling on the planet's memory of what our target's body looks like whole to repair the damage. Does that make sense?

But the main component of being a Seventh Fonist has to do with sound. That's why Scorers and Melodists are in such demand by the Order. Scorers to actually read the Score and Melodists to sing Yulia's Hymns and Fonic Hymns, although I think Van and I are the only two who can be counted as Melodists anymore, since it's such a rare talent.

[Luke nodded slowly, trying to absorb all that.]

So... the planet remembers what we're supposed to be like, and the Seventh Fonon responds best to sound? That makes sense... but why does it still work in a place like this?

[She smiles at him for a bit.]

I say the planet, but it's really Lorelei that remembers what we look like so that we can be healed. I'm not sure why our powers still work so well, but it's probably linked to the way our kidnappers took us.

[She pauses to think about the situation.] Do you still have headaches when Lorelei or Asch try to contact you?

[He paused at that, staring at her.]

Wait... the headaches before-- that was from Lorelei? Lorelei?!

[She nodded slowly.] You remember how you used to hear voices? That was Lorelei trying to communicate with you and Asch. Since the two of you were perfect isofons, you were the only ones that Lorelei could contact at all.

[Hey, be lucky you weren't Tear. Lorelei actually possessed her!]

[Luke stared for a moment, before he let out a frustrated noise, mussing up his own hair as he tried not to flail his arms.]

Why doesn't anyone tell me these things!?

[He grumbled loudly, finally letting his hands drop.]

I haven't heard anything from Lorelei since getting here. Asch's... fon calls still hurt though.

[Really, did everyone around him think Luke was stupid and couldn't handle the truth? Why was this being left to her? Asch could have.... Never mind, she'd handle it and then deal with the stupid God General as well.]

I don't know what the others thought they were doing by not telling you these things, since Asch had no qualms about ruining Akzeriuth. [She sighed and massaged her forehead for a moment.]

Yes, the headaches were from Lorelei. I know that they got worse after your fon slots were opened by Sync, Dist and Asch at Chorral Castle. I think since you're so far from Lorelei now that might be the reason you can't hear it. As for Asch...

[If she got the chance, she'd make sure the God-General suffered for being such an ass towards Luke. Really, it was getting out of hand.]

He's a jerk. At least he's not me...

[He paused a moment, like he just realized what he said, both on the stairs before and now. He let out a small laugh, folding his arms behind his head.]

...I guess that's the only good time to say that about your duplicate...

[He knew Tear wasn't going to get it, but he let out a snicker anyway.]

[She blinked at the laugh. How was this even remotely funny? However, seeing him not trying to go after his original to cause a fight was a step in the right direction. At least she might not have to deal with Luke's self-esteem when it came to who was more important and needed.]

Okay...

Heh... it's a long story. Maybe Yu-sensei and I'll tell you about it.

[He let his hands drop, opening up the book curiously.]

So, where do we start?

[She shook her head before coming over to close the book.]

Save that for later, okay? Right now, we need to do some concentration exercises. Sit down and close your eyes.

O-oh... okay.

[He let out a sheepish noise as he did as she asked, setting the book down next to him. Amnon hopped off his shoulder, curling up on top of it.]
