Tear's Big Project, Day 1
Characters: Tear Grants and YOU
Setting: The meadow on Floor 25
Format: Starting action, reply as you wish.
Summary: This is the first of the two days for Tear's offer of training in magic. There will be closed parts for certain people and a few open sections.
Warnings: Magic, fighting, Luke and Asch in the same area with pointy things, possible explosions?
[Tear made her way to the meadow thirty minutes early, a book in her hand as she made that way. She looked around at the empty space and grimaced. Why she'd thought this was a good idea, she'd never know, but she was determined to see if she could get the residents of this Tower of Horror to arm themselves in light of the recent problems with the administration.]
Closed for Luke fon Fabre (OU)
[If the redhead looked carefully enough, he'd see the brunette looking off into the distance at the flowers as she waited for the others to gather.]
Closed for Asch the Bloody, Sheba and Xion
[She'd decided to work on the redheads away from one another, but any friends they brought were fine. She'd expected to see the blond after their exchange on the network.
Closed for V/V, AU Link and Zelda
[She couldn't wait to introduce her two new friends to one another. Link had training with bows and swords. Between those, Tear was sure that V/V would find something she could use.]
Open Section for Magic Training
[This was perhaps the most anxious part of the entire ordeal—trying to figure out how the magics of so many worlds worked and to see if those interested could actually learn to use the Seventh Fonon, or if she was going to be spending her night telling them all how to do battle first aid.
Only time would tell, right?]
Open Section for Fighting Training
[As opposed to the magic training, this, this she had no issue with. She was a proficient with her staffs, maces and knives. Besides, she'd learned as a child that anything could be used as a weapon in times of need. And with the many sword wielders as she'd met since coming to the tower, she knew that this would be fine!]

Fonons are particles of elemental energy - six common fonons, and the Seventh, which is formed through a combination of all the others and has a number of special properties related to memory. It's also what's used in the creation of replicas.
[Which is why, to him, it's not at all that surprising that Xion can heal. Replicas are replicas, except when they're not.]
The first through sixth fonons are darkness, earth, wind, water, fire, and light, in that order. They can be gathered and controlled in the form of artes, either in the raw form of fonic artes or added to the use of a weapon.

This isn't helped by the fact that Sheba clearly is. Enough to add even more confusion to the conversation. At least from Xion's perspective. The elements sound vaguely familiar; fire and wind at least, she has spells for. And light and darkness she's most familiar with of all, though she has no idea if those other elements made it or they made everything or whatnot.
Asch's explanation is a godsend, and she latches onto it. She feels like she'd need to hear the other parts that Tear and Sheba had done again to fully grasp it, but it still helps a lot, at least until he mentions the special properties of seventh fonons... and a particular use. After that, it feels her head is veritably exploding with thoughts, and it's hard to take in the rest of his what he's explaining about the other fonons and fonic artes.]
I can... I can do some of that too, I think. Or something like that. I... I never really learned about how magic worked back home. I was just shown how to use it.
[Why would the Organization bother burdening the tool with unnecessary knowledge? Still, she can't shake the one question that's caught in her head now. She turns to Asch in particular, eyes wide and an odd mix of emotions playing across her face]
So... replicas from your world are made from memories too?
[If that's true, then why did replicas from his world seem so different from the ones from hers? Though... there was only her little brother and herself as examples...
It's a mark of how important the topic is to her that she's sidetracked entirely from the objective at hand to focus on it.]

Xion, fonons would be the elements that others use. The Fifth Fonon deals with fire. So, if we use Sheba as an example, Jupiter adepts deal with wind and lightning damage, hence they would implement the Third Fonon.
Is that any easier for you to understand? I know that this is a lot to take in at once and trying to translate it from one terminology to another will be a little difficult for all three of us here.
[When she asks about the replicas, Tear grimaces.] Yes and no. Replicas on Auldrant are held together primarily by the Seventh Fonon, using the memory of the particles to keep the shape they are supposed to have. If they are created properly.

The look on her face shifts from questioning to grim when Tear mentions that if. She's not going to ask what happens when they're not formed properly - she's had time to think about it, and she's pretty certain it's not something that's even a little pleasant to contemplate.
She doesn't have any information to contribute for the moment - just questions, like why Xion is so concerned with the concept of replicas and how magic works on her world - but she's sure the answers will come with time, so she stays quiet and lets the others talk.]

And besides, he knows why Xion is asking.]
Not in the way you'd normally think. It's much the same way that a picture of something is a "memory" of it.
[It's not the best way to explain, but the technical aspects of fonon memory are hard for even people on Auldrnt to grasp, so.]
Replicas are born without any memories at all, unless they're fed programming during their creation, but they catch up with their originals fairly quickly because of how their brains are wired. That's why a replica more than a year or two old is difficult to tell from a normal person.
[He exhales hard, looking far away for a moment.]
As for improperly formed replicas, the majority of them simply fall apart within a few hours of their creation.
