Tear's Big Project, Day 1
Characters: Tear Grants and YOU
Setting: The meadow on Floor 25
Format: Starting action, reply as you wish.
Summary: This is the first of the two days for Tear's offer of training in magic. There will be closed parts for certain people and a few open sections.
Warnings: Magic, fighting, Luke and Asch in the same area with pointy things, possible explosions?
[Tear made her way to the meadow thirty minutes early, a book in her hand as she made that way. She looked around at the empty space and grimaced. Why she'd thought this was a good idea, she'd never know, but she was determined to see if she could get the residents of this Tower of Horror to arm themselves in light of the recent problems with the administration.]
Closed for Luke fon Fabre (OU)
[If the redhead looked carefully enough, he'd see the brunette looking off into the distance at the flowers as she waited for the others to gather.]
Closed for Asch the Bloody, Sheba and Xion
[She'd decided to work on the redheads away from one another, but any friends they brought were fine. She'd expected to see the blond after their exchange on the network.
Closed for V/V, AU Link and Zelda
[She couldn't wait to introduce her two new friends to one another. Link had training with bows and swords. Between those, Tear was sure that V/V would find something she could use.]
Open Section for Magic Training
[This was perhaps the most anxious part of the entire ordeal—trying to figure out how the magics of so many worlds worked and to see if those interested could actually learn to use the Seventh Fonon, or if she was going to be spending her night telling them all how to do battle first aid.
Only time would tell, right?]
Open Section for Fighting Training
[As opposed to the magic training, this, this she had no issue with. She was a proficient with her staffs, maces and knives. Besides, she'd learned as a child that anything could be used as a weapon in times of need. And with the many sword wielders as she'd met since coming to the tower, she knew that this would be fine!]

A wonderful, terrible thing.
Then again, HeroTV gave its stars something of a celebrity status.
Barnaby glanced back, completely nonchalant.]
You don't need weapons to fight. But, everyone here insists that we should try.
Yeeeeeees
[That was totally a whine Luke just let out, though not for the usual reasons. He made a disgruntled face, tapping his fingers against the hilt of his sword.]
Listen, I know a kid who could wreck people just with his hands and feet, and good luck catching him, because he is fast. If you're trained enough to be able to use your body as a living weapon, then go with what you've got; chances are, you'll probably cause more damage that way then you would with a weapon.
[He paused a moment, leaning his head back so he was looking up at the fake sky. There was that dojo Guy took him too... what was it the teacher there said?]
...a person that relies on a weapon is a fool indeed.
[That... sounded about right?]

I see your point, but you have to consider the different worlds that everyone comes from. I've defeated people, but monsters don't exist.
The two are very different beasts.

If you just want to use the skills you have, but use a weapon too, maybe pick up a pair of claws? Or knuckles even, to add an extra punch.
[He paused, reaching back to scratch at the back of his head.]
But if you want to step out of what you're used to, I can offer some sword help.
no subject
[That sounded more like the Wild Tiger half of the pair. Barnaby paused in consideration-- although, mostly, he was troubled by the very idea of his partner playing around with a pair of claws.
Note to self: never allow that to happen.]
Sorry. I don't like to throw myself in without thinking. A sword is intriguing, but I need to consider its size and weight.
no subject
This is a little heavier than my last sword, but you can try it.
no subject
...it's heavier than it looks.
no subject
Yeah, it does take some weight training, or your arms are going to get tired really quick.
no subject
[He handed it back. For the speed he preferred, he wasn't certain that particular blade would work for him.]
Maybe it's not for everyone. But, it sounds like you've spent a lot of time working your way up with it. How has that been?
no subject
[His enthusiasm was obvious; clearly, his loves his swords.]
no subject
So you did work for a long time. Just with this kind of blade? How does the lighter kind work for your friend?
no subject
[Before, he probably would have been upset about that... but now, not so much. The thought that he could always get better, always have something to work toward... it wasn't a bad thought at all, really.]
I mostly use heavy blades like this one, though I do use lighter ones every now and then. The sword I had before was lighter than this, with a shorter reach.
My friend's fighting style is different from mine, so he needs to move a lot faster. [He paused, thinking.] I guess you could say his is focused on getting as many hits in as possible, while mine is doing as much damage as possible.
no subject
The lighter blade might be worth a try, if what I'm thinking is correct. Although, trying several isn't a bad idea. As you said; you can't know everything.
no subject
I don't have an extra sword right now though... [He trailed off, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly.] To be honest, I offered to help Tear, but I didn't think people would want to start to learn this stuff...
no subject
I didn't say that I wanted to start learning anything. I'm merely investigating what's out there, just in case something happens. But, the fact that you at least offered to help Miss Tear out in this undertaking is impressive itself. Not everyone's willing to help someone out.
no subject
W-well, it's the least I could do. She is my friend.
no subject
Barnaby knew that Tear was a recent arrival, like himself. It was easy for him to draw a conclusion.]
From your own world, I take it? That's fortunate.
no subject
[COUGH no blushes here what are you talking about.]
Anyway, yeah; of course I'd help her out.
no subject
Of course. She's a good friend from your home. We only just met recently, but she seems like a kind young woman.
no subject
[;ldkfsdfji His face was red and he knew it too. He cleared his throat, trying to change the topic.]
S-so yeah, if you decide on a weapon to try, let me know. I'll spar with anyone.
no subject
I'll be sure to do so. What's your name for when I decide to look you up?
no subject
no subject
[The honorifics. Get used to them. Or, end them quickly.]
no subject
I-it's just Luke.
no subject
Very well, Luke. I'll look you up in the future if I do decide to take up a sword.
