Characters: Alucard, and OPEN
Setting: Around the tower at night
Format: Starting prose, can do either
Summary: Alucard goes hunting for the boogeyman.
Warnings: Character death is possible.

Superstitions were one of those funny things. What many people in the tower would consider absolutely false based on their own experiences in their worlds, there were other worlds where they were absolutely real. Wraiths and succubi were enemies that he had fought and killed. Fellow vampires had fallen dead at his feet, and he had succeeded in at least weakening Dracula before he had found himself kidnapped inside the tower. It was with that confidence and that strength that Alucard found himself taking the writing he had seen on a wall seriously.

The man was not the sort to take a rumor as fact, not normally, but something about the message had gripped him with a desire to hunt down this boogeyman. He had his weapon by his side, gripping it rather roughly as he started his search for potential allies to hunt down the creature with him. Just because he didn't know what he was looking for didn't mean that he was going to stand idly by. Whatever it was that he was going to be fighting, Alucard had a feeling that he would need some sort of support. He wasn't the sort of person who was used to fighting in a large group, or even with one other person-- he was a loner, a knight that was used to doing missions alone.

But this? This was important enough for him to seek out other soldiers who could help the hunt end in success.

Vicente prefered the nights in the tower, even with the monsters and rumors of some new creature. Tamriel was full of creatures that many others would consider strange, after all. To think that some worlds did not contain or even heard of daedra.

The vampire spotted a familiar, pale figure and turned to look at him. "Well, well..." He whispered.

"I have heard this," Vicente replied. "However, I have not seen it myself, as far as I know. Nor is there any creature named as such in my world." Not to mention it was a rather silly name. 'Boogeyman'.

"This world revels in being unhelpful at times," Vicente mused. Not one book in the library had details on this very world, or how the tower worked. Nor was there any indication on what timeline this was.

"If you will have me," The vampire replied. He had no plans for tonight.

"Sadly no," Vicente replied. "I had a claymore, but it did not come to this world with me." He'd been thinking of sharpening himself a shiv as of late. It was no substitution for a real knife, but he could improvise. "I do have some magic, however."

"It may," Vicente replied. "I have only attempted to go there a few times, only to have my progress halted." Other nights were spent sleeping or going to the hospital for blood. There was only so long he could deprive himself of nourishment or sleep.

"I am aware of this," Vicente said in a deadpan tone. "I can see in the dark, sense life, make myself invisible, and cause creatures to flee in terror. I also know some ice magic." There was also the Vampire Seduction spell, but that wouldn't be useful in a situation such as this. Fire tended to ward off creatures better than ice, but being a vampire made him wary of fire, even if he was the one producing it.

"I also know how to snap a neck," Vicente added casually, as if he had just mentioned that he liked oranges. "Though I have yet to try it on the creatures here." Being a trained assassin meant knowing a variety of ways to kill someone or something, after all. The vampire also doubted his extensive knowledge of poisons would come in handy, though.

Vicente gazed at the weapon. "Interesting design," He said. It looked like the sort of thing you'd find in Morrowind. Throwing weapons were not as popular in Cyrodiil.

"Well then, shall we?"

"I have not been up there myself," Vicente replied. "But I have heard others speak of that floor." Thank Sithis it was easy for vampires to evesdrop. He'd never had a reason to visit floor 99 before.

"I have heard that floor is made of crystal caves," Vicente replied, turning his head this way and that, keeping his senses sharp in case anything tried to ambush them. He cast his Hunter's Sight spell, to make navigation easier and watch for anything.

Vicente had no desire to go anywhere that sounded so bright either. "Good idea," The vampire said. He took a look around, scanning for any signs of life or glowing silhouettes. "It is safe to proceed."

"My world is refered to as Nirn," Vicente replied, still looking out for danger. "It is home to many races and creatures, and borders the realm of Oblivion. Our Emperor was recently assassinated." Oh if only the Dark Brotherhood had been the one to carry that out, not some cult devoted to the Daedric Prince of Destruction.

Vicente's only interest in politics were if his order recieved a contract to murder a politician. It had happened before, and the Dark Brotherhood had assassinated an Emperor in the past.

"Daedra, actually," The vampire replied. "Though I suppose they are comparable to demons, based on various works of literature I have read here. Oblivion is divided into different planes, each with its own ruler."

"Indeed," Vicente said. "I have never seen any myself, and accounts vary. They say one is a hunting ground, while another is an island of maddness. Why, just before I was taken, some followers of the Prince of Destruction, Mehrunes Dagon, began opening portals to their master's realm. It is a plane of fire and brimstone." He'd never ventured into a portal himself, but there were some eyewitnesses. And that fellow who had been closing them.

"Each Daedric Prince rules their realm as they see fit," Vicente informed the other vampire. "Quite interesting that your world would have a realm that is similar to Dagon's."
