Can't hide forever

Summary: Kanaya had been avoided people for as long as she could, interacting with people as little as she could manage. That can only last so long.
Warnings: Possible mentions of surgery

[She had made it a point to not spend too much time with people, the phantom would just suck on their energy, making it stronger. Kanaya knew that if the phantom got too strong than she would not be able to contain it. Or so she thought. Even without people around the phantom still pushed at her insides causing her pain and discomfort. Slowly she got used to the phantom being inside of her and slowly she got used to being tired and drained of energy. But that doesn't mean that she wouldn't give anything to have it disappear. She didn't know if she could go through another surgery to remove it.]

[Kanaya spent most of her time hiding in the library, reading anything she could get her hands on. She couldn't tell you how many books she has read since she returned from surgery, but she probably couldn't tell you what they were all about.]

[Occasionally she would make her way down to the dining hall to eat something, but it was as little as possible. The last thing she wants to is have more strength for the phantom to sap. Instead she picks on her food, eating the bare minimum.]

[Every few days she would go back to her room to sleep to avoid death. She didn't know what would happen if she died, if the phantom would die with her or be released on the tower. To avoid that she would spend one night in her bed every few days.]

[Romeo glided through the library on his hoverboard. He wasn't sure why he was here except that he liked being around the books. He couldn't really read them at the moment as he worried about damaging them and he had to use his teeth to hold anything.]

Kanaya! [He slowed down his hoverboard when he saw her, she didn't look well at all. The phantom inside her must be hurting her really badly. He got off the board carefully picking it up in his mouth and walked over slowly. He was improving every day, his legs were getting stronger.]

[She looks up at the sound of his voice and glances at the hoverboard] I see you have been getting around okay. [She looks from the board back to him] And that you are able to walk on your own. I'm glad.

[He gives a small smile and nods dropping the board at his feet.] Ven leant me the board and I've been practicing, how are you doing?

[He looked around the library and shrugged sadly] I like story books but I don't think I'd be able to read one without ruining it.

[She nods] I have been keeping to myself mostly. If you like we can pick out a story and I can read it to you.
