[Eridan gasps for breath, then opens his eyes as the paralysis fades. He stares in terror at the strange surroundings. The last thing he remembers is being jumped by three blues, one of which was getting really way too fresh.

He has a bruised eye, and a bite at the corner of his mouth. He looks like the biggest hate slut in the universe, and he's in a strange, sterile place that doesn't look like the palace, or anywhere that might be considered safe. Not that the palace is safe.

A quick investigation locates the contents of his trunk. Soon he's dressed in his own clothing, with Ahab slung over his shoulder - he doesn't know how they found it, but he's not leaving it here - and his knife at his belt. He has his moirail ring on the ring finger of his right hand.

He hesitates for a moment, then slips his kismesis ring onto the outside finger of his left hand. He doesn't like to wear it, but maybe, just maybe, it'll actually do him some good here.

Then he leaves the room and heads nervously down the hall, his eyes wide and frightened. All he wants is an exit. He can figure out what happened after it's all over.]

[Taiki woke up to see another person in his room he had been wondering when there would be people in the other three beds. He sat up with a nervous smile determined to make a good first impression. He hadn't done very well so far, he was so scared and he either scared others or they confused him and he ended up in tears.

However when he saw the figure rumaging through the chest his eyes widen. At first he just saw the horns, the shape of them. If it had been any other troll Taiki had met he would not have even noticed the similarity. But the face of the troll who had tried to kill him was seared into his memory, the troll who smelt so much of blood. This one smelt of violence as well, but it wasn't overpowering. Still.] Sanshi!

[Sanshi appeared at his side in moments and angled herself between him and the troll.] Did he send you to kill me? [The paranoia had been getting steadily worse and now he could not think of any other reason for this troll to be in his room.]

[Eridan was in the middle of frantically pulling on his real clothes when the sleeping alien in the next bed - which he had distantly noticed and dismissed as secondary for the moment - sat up and called for some kind of monster, which suddenly appeared between the alien and Eridan.

He yelled and took a step back in fright. Unfortunately, he was naked from the waist down and had one leg in his pants, so all he managed to do was trip and fall on his ass.

He grabbed for his trunk and nearly overturned it, a shower of seashells falling onto him as it rocked and then settled again, only adding to his humiliation. Somehow, he managed to get his hand on the stock of Ahab and he brought it around, pointing it wildly at the monster]

Stay the fuck awway from me! I'm gettin' out a here, understand?!

[Taiki actually relaxed for a moment as the troll fell over, he didn't seem as scary as the other troll who looked like him had been. If Taiki hadn't been so paranoid he would have felt embarased about scaring him, but he knew, he might just be trying to put Taiki at ease so he could hurt him.

Then the crossbow was pointed at Sanshi and any sympothy Taiki might have had vanished. He flung himself over Sanshi as she tried to stay in between him and the cross bow. She snarled at the troll.]

We wont hurt you if you don't hurt us! Don't hurt Sanshi! [Was that his plan? To hurt Sanshi and Gohran so that bigger troll could kill Taiki. Tears of fear had entered his eyes.]

[Even in his current state, it was hard to stay mad at a small alien who was crying while begging Eridan not to hurt him or the monster. Eridan glared at the alien.]

I wwasn't the one wwho started out aggressivve. I just wwant out a here, like I said, so you just stay ovver there.

[Awkwardly, still trying to point the gun vaguely in the direction of the aliens, he tries to pull his pants up.]

Wwhere am I, anywway?

[Taiki started crying in earnest because the troll was right, it was all his fault, he had messed things up again.] I'm sorry [It was a whisper, as Sanshi stroked his hair and continued growling at Eridan]

You're... we're in a tower, and trapped. There's no way out. [His gaze darkened again] You probably knew that, you are just here to spy on me aren't you. They realised I was alone so sent someone to make sure I did what they wanted me to!

[Eridan didn't know what was going on. The little alien was really crying now, and the monster was growling at him like it was his fault! But he hadn't done anything, and if he weren't indescribably badass, he might have started crying, too.

Actually, he wasn't feeling all that badass at all right now, and there were purple tears pricking at the corner of his eye. He struggled to his feet and kicked shells out of the way, cautiously putting Ahab down within reach. The goal of getting pants on was far more important than anything else right now. If the monster ate him, at least he'd be wearing pants.]

I don't knoww any such thing. Wwho's 'they', anywway? Is this a prison? I havven't done anything illegal!

[Okay, that last is a blatant lie, but he'd thought that working for Sollux would help insulate him from being randomly arrested. Considering he's a sea dweller, he realizes now how naive that thought was.]

I don't know who they are, I've never seen them but someone must be kidnapping us and writing those letters. [He points at the letter at the side of Eridan's bed, wiping away his tears. More come and so it is futile but he notices the tears in the other boys eyes. He feels bad enough about that that he calms down a little.]

No I don't think so, I haven't done anything illegal either! [That would be... virtually impossible as that would involve disobeying his king and Taiki couldn't even imagine that. Lord Gyousou would never put him anywhere like this anyways.

He looked back at the boy noticing the purple stains on his face. Purple... that reminded him and he scowled again] Even if you are not working for them then he must have sent you. He looked just like you, but older, did he tell you to hurt me?

[At some point, he'll come across, well, ERIDAN. Who is frozen, staring at him. Oh god. He saw it with others here but he didn't expect it with him. Holy shit he did not expect it with HIM.]

[We'll assume Eridan got some kind of coherent explanation of where they are from Taiki, but he still wasn't expecting to see another sea dweller who looks just like him.

He is also frozen. Staring at the other Eridan. With his mouth hanging slightly open.]

Wwhat the actual flippering fuck.

No one fuckin' sent me. If they had, I wwouldn't look so fuckin' ridiculous and trippin' over myself, now wwould I?

[He's recovered enough from his original shock that he's getting irritated. He scrubs at the tears and wipes them away, then quickly pulls his shirt on, covering the gills on the sides of his torso, and wraps his scarf around his neck. Feeling a bit more dressed, even though he's still barefoot and his cape is still on the floor, he goes to pick up the letter and read it.]

Wwhat the fuck is this nonsense?

Wwell? Go on. Wwhat makes us different? [Eridan folds his arms.] Wwhat's your blood color?

[Taiki clutched onto Sanshi a bit harder, he had never met anyone who swore so much in his life. Even at school back on earth they would have gotten into so much trouble for talking like this troll did. But he suposed he was right. Unless he was trying to make him less suspicious. Taiki put his head on Sanshi's lap, worrying all the time made him tired.]

It's not true [His voice was a whisper and choaked with tears] They are lying.

[The alien was seeming like less and less of a threat by the moment, though the monster was still a bit frightening. Eridan crumpled up the letter in an act of defiance and then moved back to the trunk, rummaging through it again.

He paused and put on his rings, then swung the cape around his shoulders and fastened it with a flourish. The clothing was a bit worn and patched in places, but he wore it like a king]

Of course they're lyin'. My wworld isn't destroyed, that's complete ridiculous seahorseshit.

[Mirror folding of arms and a scowl] Can't you see? I'm a brinesucker, same as you. A course my blood's vviolet. [He points a finger towards the symbol on his chest]

Wwhat's your name?

[Almost oddly derogatory, but Eridan's never had the best sense of self-worth, so it's not out of the ordinary.]

Right. A' course. I'm Eridan Ampora. At this point I think wwe'vve established that you are too. Somethin's gotta be different. Did you play the game?

Wwhat game? Wwhat do you mean, howw can you be me? [This is definitely the weirdest thing that's ever happened to him]

[Taiki watched suspiciously as the troll rummaged through his trunk, was he looking for another weapon? Was the one not good enough?] No it's not! They just want to scare us. [He is more interested than scared now, though the suspicions are still there.]

What's your name?

[Weird kid, he sure seems suspicious. But then, Eridan's used to nearly everyone being suspicious of him and treating him like crap upon first meeting. He scowls at the kid faintly]

I'm Eridan Ampora. Wwhat's your name?

[He shrinks further backwards at the scowl.] Erm... I'm Taiki...

Yeah, okay. [He hesitates, then sits down on the side of his bed] So wwhat's the deal, Taiki, really? Wwho are these people wwho kidnapped us, and wwhy?

[Taiki doesn't move any closer, he still doesn't trust this troll who looks so much like the one who tried to kill him. But he wanted to be helpful.] I'm not really sure, I am sorry. I just woke up here the same as you but two weeks ago. They are cruel though and hurt people for no reason. [He presses his face into Sanshi's side a moment while he calms down.]

...Great. [He chewed on his scarf a little, a habit he'd picked up when he was small and had never quite kicked the habit in extreme situations] And you havve no idea wwhy or wwhat wwe did to deservve that?

[Taiki shook his head, he had no idea.] I don't think there's a reason... Some people smell strongly of blood and violence... [Especially the trolls but he doesn't say that] But most don't, not more than any soldier... Most people are innocent I think. I'm sorry... I don't really know... [He started crying again.]

[Eridan chews on his scarf again, then rises, determined]

Wwell, I'm gonna find out and givve wwhoever brought us here a piece a my mind.

Anywway, don't be scared. I'll figure it out, somehoww.

They'll hurt you. [He buries his head in his bed and Sanshi holds him tighter.] Be careful. [He looked up for a moment and his eyes darkened again] That's if your not working for them and only pretending to want to help.

[He just stares at the child for a few moments, then shakes his head and walks out. Weird kid.]
