Missing a friend

Characters: Samwise Gamgee and you
Setting: 6th July, dorm halls
Format: Either
Summary: Sam comes back from the ruins of Middle Earth, to find Frodo gone
Warnings: sad hobbit

Everything was gone, down to the very stars themselves. Every blade of grass, every flower, every tree in the Shire and probably the whole world was dead, withered, gone like all the people.

Where there had once been laughter and hope now there was just silence, death, bodies twisted in agony and Sam could not bare it. It was almost better to be back in the tower, in this place of metal and fear. Sam's first act was to go and find Frodo, or at least attempt to. For when he got to his master's room he found his name struck from the door, much like Barnaby's had been.

Gone forever... That was what that meant. Sam shook his head in disbelief, he couldn't be gone. Not Frodo, why would they send him away, Sam had not even been able to cope with a week in their ruined world, how would Frodo bare it?

For a long time he stared at the door, as if in shock, wanting to cry but feeling that more tears in this place would do no one any good.

[That's good. Not about the shock, no. Nils knows what it feels like to lose someone. The "fine" part would do though for now, he supposes. He nods a bit.] That's good. [His eyes are still a little red from crying in his room earlier. He quickly wipes at his damp eyes.] You, u-um, looked very... sad...

I... I think I'll be fine too. [He misses his sister the most, though he supposes a destroyed world isn't much since she was already gone to begin with. But then there was Lord Eliwood, Lord Hector, who had been brothers to him, and Lady Lyndis was the one who had agreed to help him after Ninian had been kidnapped. With a world destroyed, he had lost them too.] I'm, um, I-I woke up in a bed and there was this note... [He pulls out the letter, still unsure about what to think of it.] I don't understand, sir. Maybe you got one too...?

[He doesn't want to ask anything that may upset Sam, so it takes him a moment to decide what to ask. So instead, he blurbs out:] I... Um, maybe we could look out for each other? [Of course, what he really meant was that he was positively terrified and did not want to face this alone.] Sir, could I play you a song?

[Nils nodded a bit, though he was somewhat surprised that Sam did not insist of him sticking "sir" onto his name. So be it though, and he raised his wooden flute to his lips to play an upbeat tune. The magic in the melody was capable of restoring energy and spirits, though Nils wasn't sure if his magic would work within this tower.]

[Nils lowers the flute from his lips.] Thank you, Sam. Did it... Did it make you feel better?
