Chapter 2 - Confronting The Past
Characters: Amelia and you! (One prompt closed to [OU] Kyoko)
Setting: Assorted locations throughout the Tower all throughout the week!
Format: Action brackets to start with but prose is cool too!
Summary: The bonds of a knight to her country and friends is not something easily broken. That's going to make this tricky.
Warnings: Probably a lot of unpleasant thoughts, but Amelia might just survive this one. I'll update this if something goes awry somewhere!
Tuesday - Floor 78/You've Got Mail!
[Mail? She had a feeling having a mailbox might come in handy one day but the fact somebody sent her... anything really comes as a surprise. But what she finds inside the small package is not what she expected at all.
A few locks of golden hair, nothing else inside the package and no information whatsoever. Who could it possibly-
No.
They wouldn't.
They wouldn't dare.
But they did. That hair brings back a sudden, downright painful memory of home. Of the last time she saw her mother. How anybody could have known that she has no idea, let alone how anybody could have gotten a bit of her hair. Barely keeping it together for the moment she slowly and deliberately places the small package back inside of the mailbox, turns as if she's about to walk away, and then promptly drives an armored fist into the wall as hard as she possibly can.
At least she managed to ditch her shadows for a moment before finding this out. Who knows how long until they show up though.]
Wednesday - Floor 39/The Gymnasium
[She has to keep fighting, no matter what happens.
That's why despite the constant harassment of the shadows she's still taking the time to train, her weapons resting next to her on the floor with one arm around behind her back and doing pushups with the other, her gaze fixed firmly to the floor with an intensity that could kill a man. There's a few shadows hanging around her, and judging by the way she occasionally shoots a glare at one she's not doing as good a job ignoring them as she thought she was.
They tell her she's weak.
They tell her she'll never have the strength to protect others.
A knight? She hardly even deserves to be called a soldier!
At that last one she pauses, arm fully extended against the floor as she shoots that last shadow a sharp glare, muttering under her breath.]
Shut. Up.
[With that she returns to her exercise, but it would be obvious to any passer by she's more than a little on edge right now, to say nothing of the paler orange color of her collar.]
Thursday - Staircase! Pretty much anywhere.
[So she thought she could simply ignore the shadows, force her way through on willpower alone. That was before she noticed that they seemed to gradually wear away at her energy, and that changed things a bit. Fortunately for her she figured out at least one solution, simply trying to outrun them whenever she could. Unfortunately this never seemed to work for more than a few minutes at a time, how exactly they always found her again she wasn't quite sure.
But damned if she isn't giving it her all right now, sprinting up and down the stairs, ducking into floors largely at random and keeping her breaks as short as possible, only when needed. On the upside this is great exercise. Perhaps you might catch her sitting on the stairs somewhere taking a moment to catch her breath, or maybe in one of her more panicked moments she might run straight into you if you're not paying enough attention?]
Friday - Floor 96/The Amnesia Station
[Amelia had heard about this floor before and what it can do to people. Those who spend too much time on it will have their memories steadily whittled away, until they remember nothing at all. Only a complete idiot would willingly set foot on such a floor without an incredibly good reason.
But while she's no idiot, the relentless onslaught of the shadows is very nearly enough to qualify as an incredibly good reason. Nearly. She hasn't actually set foot on the floor yet as she mentally grapples with that, to forget all about everything would be an incredibly welcome reprieve from this madness. But it's not that simple and she knows it, there's no promise it'd actually save her from the creatures and in that state she'd be powerless to help anybody. The risk is simply too great.
She tells herself she's just waiting on the staircase to catch her breath and she'll move again, but the way she's gazing out onto the floor says otherwise. It's a tempting thought though, more tempting than it should be...]
Early Morning Saturday - Floor 73/What's Left Of Castle Really Damn Cold - Closed to [OU] Kyoko
[They say you don't know where your true limits are until you're actually there. This might just be it.
She's run from them for as long as she could, and to her credit it's been an admirable effort on her end, simply making it this long. But eventually the lack of energy finally catches up with her and this is where she fell, slumped down on the cold ground against a ruined wall, her knees pulled up to her chest and her face stuffed into them in a vain attempt to block out the small crowd of shadows gathered around her. Her collar fluid has gone almost completely transparent, although close inspection would reveal just a slight trace of color left in it.
"You betrayed your country, your own Emperor. A traitor has no right to call themselves a knight."
"I should have cut you down when we first met, to think I was foolish enough to place my trust in somebody so weak."
"The only thing a soldier like you is good for is dying, why can't you even do that properly?"
All she has to do is hold out. All she has to do is survive. That's all, and she's a good soldier so she can do that, right? But it's so damn cold and she's pretty sure it's only a matter of time before a monster finds her, and by this point she's not even sure she can stand any more. Her armor back home was several times heavier than this and she could handle it, so why does her armor feel so damned heavy now...?]
... I... I can't give up...
["But you gave up on us." She cringes again slightly, her first movement in several moments.]
... no I didn't... just... just go away...
[Maybe... maybe if she just takes a short nap she'll be alright...]

Re: Wednesday - Floor 39/The Gymnasium
Shifting up to a crouching position for a second and rubbing the arm she was just training, she figures a little small talk probably couldn't hurt. Maybe he knows something useful about this too.]
I wonder if this is another one of Jason's "experiments"?
no subject
Hearing a voice, Sephiroth pauses and looks over his bare shoulder to Amelia who has crouched up from the floor.]
Could be. It doesn't make much sense though, why would he seem angry over it?
[Seeing Jason angry is one of the perks of the collar boycott after all. How his little suggestion keeps reaping it's own rewards.]
