Summary: Capell wakes up

[Room 1-18] Panic. That was the first thing Capell felt because he couldn't move, couldn't breathe. Couldn't scream. It didn't last long but it was long enough. With a gasp he sat up in bed.

Bed... that wasn't right. Why would he be in bed? He was cutting the chain... He looked round the room, squinting at the harsh, seemingly unnatural light. This looked like no inn he had ever been in before, even ignoring the fact him being in an inn was impossible.

He was dressed in some tight, restrictive material and he had something around his neck. A collar of some sort.

There was a note on the side and he picked it up, reading the two lines quickly before sitting heavily back on the bed.

His world... destroyed. No. Capell crumpled the letter. It couldn't be so...

[Elevator] At least this was something he understood, even if it was much slower than the ones he had known. Slower and strange. He stood silently, wondering why it stopped every twenty floors, and what was between them. He should have probably taken the stairs, he needed to look at the whole of this place, to look for his friends.

[Floor Eighty One] Capell stood by the window, not sure he was brave enough to step onto the glass. He stared up at the stars, not recognising any of them at all and then down into the fog. So far though he had seen many people, he knew none of them. If he had been rescued, surely his friends, who had been so close to him would have been too.

He couldn't give up hope, he had not gone far, there were many other places to look yet.

"Right." Capell nodded, planning to do just that, and learn more. "I'm Capell by the way."

"It is nice to meet you, Capell. I am chaos."

Feel free to think that the name was weird.

It was a bit weird, but Capell had a friend who was a bear, he considered a lot more things normal than he used to. "Nice to meet you Chaos."

Which was good, as the Tower would probably be quite weird to those who weren't used to oddities.

"Yes, that it is..if you do not mind my asking, is there anything else you're curious about here?"

Capell laughed, "Most things honestly. Is it true not everyone has Lunaglyph's here?"

At the question, chaos chuckled a little bit with Capell and shook his head.

"Since I do not know what a Lunaglyph is in your universe, I would have to say that they do not. If you do not mind my asking, is it a glyph that is shaped like the moon?"

"A glyph given power by the moon." He told him, "Or rather the god of the moon. Most people have them, depending on what phase of the moon they were born under, it grants them powers, like healing or extra strength in battle, seeing in the dark, that sort of thing."

The god of the moon..while chaos had heard of similar beliefs in his universe, he didn't actually know that there was a universe where powers granted by the moon existed.

"I understand. That does not exist in my universe, and I imagine that it will not for other people here."

"It is hard to imagine." He said softly. It was what he had hoped to create, a world without lunaglyphs. But he did not want it to be at the cost of his world... and his friends...

Not that chaos knew that Capell was working for a world without lunaglyphs, but he did understand how strange it could be to imagine totally different universes.

"I know that it can be, but I assure you that it is real. You shall probably get used to it, in time."

"I probably will. It's strange though to imagine a place where everyone is unbl..." He frowned, unblessed was the wrong word he supposed if the concept of those who were blessed by Lunaglyph's did not exist here.

"Is there even a word for people with no magic in a world where everyone is the same." He thought outloud.

"Unless my memory is acting up again, there is not. However, do remember that not everyone is the same, even in a universe without magic or things like magic."

Capell blinked, "I know that, I didn't mean..." He scratched his head thoughtfully. Because of course everyone was different, it was just that the things that had so separated people in his own world did not exist here.

"I just meant in a world where no one has magic."

"In a world where one does not have magic, there would still be words like 'magician' to describe those who do in stories or to describe people who perform illusions or pretend to do so."

He paused a moment, thinking about that. "So the distinction is aimed at those that do have magic rather than those who don't." Interesting. He nodded and grinned. "It seems I have a lot to learn."

chaos simply returned the smile and nodded.

"It is, as not having magic is normal for most people. There is nothing wrong with having lots to learn though. Everyone does."

Capell nodded and then blinked as he realised something. "So... you are an... person who doesn't have magic as well."

Everyone he had seen so far was, since he was used to assuming that everyone he met were meagues it was a strange step for his brain to make.

It was probably a strange step to make, but he would probably get used to it eventually, even in a place like this.

"No. My universe does have a form of technological magic that some people use in their lives. I use it as well."

Sure, his own power tended to seep in, and sometimes what he did was just his own power, but..that wasn't something he was going to say up front.

"So there are people with magic in your world?" He was confused now. He reached up to scratch his head.

"Not magic as you are familiar with it, but technological magic of a sorts. It is best to simply leave it at that. The details would be quite complex."

chaos, you're just being lazy now.

"Oh." Capell frowned, utterly confused now. Just when he had thought he was beginning to understand things.

"Well I guess I have taken up a lot of your time, and there's still a lot of this place to see."

Not that chaos could blame him. He knew that his universe could be odd to those not familiar with it, but he was sure that Capell would get used to the idea of different universes eventually.

"This place is rather large, but you have not taken up my time. I enjoyed talking with you. If you want me to accompany you, I shall, but if not, I shall always be willing to help you if you need it."

"Oh." He blinked, the concept of someone being glad of his company a new one, even despite all the friends he now had. "Thanks. You can come to me for help as well, I'll try and be useful."

"Do not mention it. We all need a little help sometimes. I am simply happy to do so when I can. However, you do not have to worry about being useful when our paths cross. I am usually happy to talk with people."

Of course, he wasn't always happy, depending upon the person, but that was why it was 'usually' instead of always.

"Well I'm glad." Capell liked talking to people too, when they were nice people. And Chaos seemed like he was.
