Ooh, let them eat cake
Characters: Chidori Yoshino; Open
Setting: The Kitchen/Cafeteria
Format: Action
Summary: There are things to cook with, though they aren't exactly real. Chidori capitalizes anyway.
Warnings: Probably just language
[Kitchen]
[Early morning of the eighth, finds an unusual sight in the tower's kitchen. Chidori, having woken earlier than usual to finish her tower-appointed work before getting her own breakfast, has overtaken the kitchen.]
--some gone off to their fall, lord have mercy on them...
[She's singing distractedly, almost as if she doesn't realize she's doing so at all, her voice barely audible over the clattering of pans and sounds of someone preparing to do more than their share of cooking.]
Are we really living or just wal-king dead now? Or dreaming of a hope riding the wings of angels...
[She's setting out baking trays and pans to one side, mixing bowls and utensils to the other, ingredients right in front of her. Sleeves pinned up, apron in place, she even ties her hair back with a ribbon before nodding in satisfaction and reaching for the flour.]
The way we live, the way we die- what a tragedy, I'm so te-rri-fied...
[Interrupt? Help? Up to you.
[Cafeteria]
[There are a lot of baked goods on the tables around lunchtime.
A lot.
If there's one thing Chidori appreciates about the enormous walk-in ovens, it's that she can bake a lot at one time-- and if she needs to pop in while they're on, she generally leaves feeling a little refreshed because of her persona's fire-eating abilities. That said, she may or may not have made more than she can reasonably finish off on her own throughout the day, so she's set up a hastily-made sign:
And beneath it is a (for a while at least) seemingly still-expanding array of sweets- sugar cookies, raspberry cheesecake, lemon meringue pie, chocolate cake with chocolate mousse in between the layers, angel food cake and a peach cobbler.
When she's finally finished, she barely eats any of her lunch before reaching for a slice of cheesecake to go with the mug of tea she's got at the ready.
Better get to whatever you want before someone else does.]

Kitchen
[The least he can do is ask, then. Rick cautiously shuffles into the kitchen, eyes flickering between Chidori's and the floor just by her feet.]
...D-Do you m-m-mind if I...um...use the s-stove?
[It looks like she's primarily making use of the oven, but it's Rick's default to assume that he'll somehow be an inconvenience.]
no subject
[Chidori half-turns, in the middle of mixing a bowl full of dough, and gives his skittish look between her and the floor a quirked brow. She shrugs though, and turns back to her ingredients after a moment, inclining her head toward the stove.]
Just try and clean up after yourself. If you don't, that's extra work for me later.
[And she'd have enough of that after her baking frenzy.]

I can handle it, really... but if you'd like, then I won't turn down the help.

Kitchen
Wanting to grab and early snack before heading of to more research and studies, Chidori is admittedly a surprise to see, but definitely welcomed. And admittedly the hair tied up with a ribbon is pretty cute too.
He halfs wonders if he should just let her continue, but he has a feeling she already knows he's here, so no use beating around the bush, as he gives her a smile and leans a little closer to her, watching.
"You're making food for everyone?"
no subject
Chidori pauses in her current endeavor of sealing off a pie crust, wiping her hands briefly on her apron, and turns to haul him down by the collar into a quick kiss. When she lets him go, she taps him on the underside of the chin and turns back to her pie.
"Safe to say, I've gotten a little carried away."
When she finishes a moment later, she picks up the pie and turns toward the oven, tilting her head at him over her shoulder.
"What brings you down so early?"
no subject
WHAT WAS IT WITH GIRLS KISSING HIM WITHOUT PERMISSIONYes it was a good idea to tap him there since his mouth had been hanging a bit when she did that. He quickly coughed it up, brushing the back of his neck. You'd think he'd be accustomed to this but...nah he'd never be able to.
"I'm sure they'll appreciate the effort."
He certainly was.
"Grabbing a quick bite to eat." Before most of those fluid tests are done.
Naoya was walking behind her. Hey, if the door locked them into the over, it wasn't like she was the only one who had a Persona with fire immunity.
I don't think anyone would bother us in there too. Maybe one day he'd remember not to...think too much when she's around.
no subject
You're cute and kind of dumb about it, that's about it"I certainly hope so. I'd hate to waste anything."
The reaction was, as ever, a nice one, though she ducked her head to hide the color threatening to rise in her own cheeks as she turned away. But Chiori was a master of feigned nonchalance and so she peeked over her shoulder eyebrows rising.
"So early...?" Does it make a difference?
She hadn't considered that it might, honestly.
Why Naoya... She paused after setting the pie down to look up at him, reaching up for his collar once more, cheeks pink despite her amusement. Are you considering a tryst in the oven, of all places?

Cafeteria
[His vision still isn't great, comparatively, so he still squints and glares a bit. But he can definitely smell the treats before he sees them. There's a girl sitting nearby, so he approaches her.]
Are... these aren't reserved for anyone, right?
no subject
[Chidori is only mildly curious about his squinting, and taps at the sign she's made for emphasis.]
I'm afraid my eyes were a bit too big for my stomach, so...
[A shrug as she takes a bite of her cheesecake.]
Have at it.
no subject
[He hangs his head a little in embarrassment, and goes to cut himself a piece of pie.]
Did you make these?
no subject
[She doesn't smile, but her expression eases up some, and she nods as he serves himself.]
Yes. It's been... some time since we had anything decent to eat. I thought I should take advantage while I could, but...
[Chidori never does things by halves, and if she had it in her to look sheepish, she would.]
So really, take as much as you like.

But he recognizes that voice when he heads in.] Chidori?
[It's actually kind of nice to see a familiar face. The faces around the Tower are always changing and they're becoming unfamiliar,so seeing a familiar face is nice.]
no subject
[It's been a while since she'd spoken to him, and while she'd been worried, she hadn't wanted to go looking for him if he didn't want to be found. It's a relief to see him about, and she leans back to peek at the door and wave him over, half-smiling at him.]
I'm baking. Want to help?
no subject
That's probably a terrible idea. I can watch and be moral support though. Let's not forget the cake I attempted to make for that one birthday party. You know, the cake we should pretend never existed because it was that bad.
no subject
[But she only smiles and shrugs, reaching for a rolling pin.]
Who knows, perhaps all you need is a good teacher.

Cafeteria
A slice was already cut from the... pudding-like cake with the raspberries atop it. Best to take a slice of his own from that, then. Which he did, plating it up and finding a fork... and then casting a look at Chidori, who was having a slice of the very same.]
I'm not familiar with this kind of dessert. What's it called?
no subject
[She offers forward a fork from nearby, tilting her head slightly.]
It's very creamy, and I like to think this one came out rather well.
no subject
[He looks skeptical, now. And then uncertain. Knowing precisely what went into the composition of sweets wasn't anywhere near being a specialty of his. Maybe most cakes contained cheese and he simply didn't know it? No, no, that was foolish....
He shrugs, takes the fork, separates out a bite, and pops it in his mouth. His eyes go wide, and there's a muffled sound, more or less to the effect of 'this is very good', as he chews and forks up another piece.]

Hello! Who are you?! Are you a good person? You're luvley!
no subject
[Chidori blinked at the energetic girl, tilting her head slightly to one side. Then, somewhat jokingly-]
Well, I like to think I'm not a terrible person.
[But she almost immediately sobers up, raising her brows at the cake on her plate.]
Are you sure you'll be able to eat all that?
no subject
That's good! I don't think you're a bad person then! And I'll be fine! Cake is gl..gl..glorimous, so Yotsuba'll be fine!

He doesn't pay attention to Chidori at first, leaving her to her work, but catches a strain of her song, and the content piques his interest.*
Ah...I'm sorry, what is that song?
no subject
Hmmm...?
[It takes her a moment to realize she has indeed been singing the song aloud, and flusters for a moment before remembering there was a question-]
Oh. It's called 'Sincerely, Jane'... I've grown fond of it, of late.
no subject
*A small, sheepish chuckle.* I admit, I wasn't expecting a title like that from the words I heard.
