Event: Questions and Answers

Characters: NPCs, open
Setting: cafeteria, after lunch, June 11 & 12
Format: starting in prose
Summary: Some of the tower administration answers questions characters may have about their situation.
Warnings: possible language, possible violence

There is a small, hastily-constructed stage at the head of the cafeteria. While it's empty now, it's obvious there's room for two people to sit and answer questions in front of microphones. After dinner, the collared cafeteria workers silently clear away all food to prepare. Until the session begins, everyone is left to talk amongst themselves.

He frowned, thinking. A week without answers? They had absolutely horrid PR for one thing. "I'd doubt it. I'd argue it was worse if they did. It meant they had time to prepare." He paused...reassurance wasn't his forte. Where was his brother when he needed him. "But if it helps, my world perished a number of times and is still around in some form."

Canada had to take in that last bit. World destroyed and still around? She can't imagine the whole world perishing. Nations yes, but not the whole world.

"You...have an interesting world then. I'm afraid mine has never perished and I don't think it would survive it."

"Well, there are nine realms. Even if one branch of Yggdrasil were to be cut off, terrible though that would be, the other branches would still be there." This was said in a matter of fact tone, vaguely distracted, the same way one would idly say 'the sky is blue' or 'Russia does seem to have sibling problems, doesn't he?' Loki peered at the stage. "What do you think they're trying to accomplish with this?"

"...You have an interesting world," was Canada's short reply, shaking her head. She'd wrap her head around it later, for now, this charade of questions.

"Trying to placate us? If they have kidnapped us, they want us to believe their story so we don't escape. If it's true, they need us to remain calm."

"Worlds," Loki corrected, absently, before continuing. "You may be right. The strange thing is why they did not do it sooner."

Was this really a smart thing, expositing to the first person he encountered without knowing who Canada was or if she could be trusted, mainly because a small part of him (which would likely grow larger when it was dark and Loki had no distractions) was gibbering in a blind panic because his brother was missing? He'd think on that...later. Much later. "If it was to make us more tractable it would make more sense to do it sooner, before the first comers had a chance to speculate and formulate rumors."

Canada thought about what he said, turning it over in her mind as she contemplated everything.

"They don't seem...prepared I suppose. Maybe they didn't expect us to be as talkative or compare notes? Though that seems stupid, we're all in this boat together."

"Exactly! The destruction of one realm weakens all realms. If this destruction is left unchecked it would be like losing an arm through negligence." They were all in the same boat. Granted, most of the other inhabitants of said boat might not exactly approve of how Captain Loki would steer the ship if given the chance, but he had no plans to run the ship ashore or toss people overboard. Details. They could be glossed over. "By any chance, have you heard of a 'Serpent'?"

"I'd have never put it that way but I suppose...it might be true. The destruction seems widespread at least, through several different worlds. Do you think it has a starting point, an origin?" She tapped her chin and shook her head to his question, already a little distracted. Her next words half to herself.

"Though I'm not sure what knowing the origin would help..."

[personal profile] lowkeyinaminor 2011-06-22 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, if we were to figure out an origin, it would make figuring out a way of stopping the destruction of worlds a great deal easier. Perhaps we could even bring back the destroyed worlds, somehow." Galactus, maybe? But he didn't have the power to destroy dimensions...ah, well. He needed more information.

"Think of it like a disease, if that would help."

Canada shook her head, "But how would we do that? We probably need to figure out things one a time at least. Just focus on the origin for now?"

[personal profile] lowkeyinaminor 2011-06-24 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
"I'd guess so. I'm no expert, but it's usually only after you know who the players are and how the pieces are set up that you can deduce the best way to clear the board." Something like that, at least. Of course, at the moment he had no idea how to figure out anything, aside from perhaps asking a bunch of obnoxious questions shortly.

[identity profile] pineandmaple.livejournal.com 2011-06-25 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
"And we've no idea on any of that. Well I suppose that's the point of questioning and exploring right?" She shrugged.
