[ Kirei frowns -- not that she can likely see it -- as he considered the suggestion. The elevator isn't too far away, but it will be quite the journey to take when half-blind. However, standing here indefinitely is not an ideal option. ]

Very well. [ He shifts his foot across the ground, nudging aside some small pieces of rubble. ] Keep hold of my arm.

[ He does not make this request out of anything other than necessity. ]

All right. [She didn't have any intention of doing otherwise, but when he asks that of her, she shifts her hold on him and clutches his forearm as tightly as she can. It's still not all that strong a grip, all things considered. She can hear the debris as it's nudged aside, and she squints down at the floor, but it's all too indistinct for her to tell where one piece of rubble ends and the next begins. They'll just...have to make do with being slow and careful, she supposes.] I'm ready.

[ He begins slowly, and it's a careful process. He sweeps his feet across the floor, rather than taking proper steps. It's easier to gauge the rubble this way: kicking aside the smaller pieces and also determining where the larger ones are.

Her grip on his arm is an odd distraction. She clutches at him with a desperation, but her strength is not great. He imagines her fumbling, falling... he might not be in any position to help her, if she did, for he is equally near-blind.

That thought lingers. ]

There will be a step here. [ He tests it, resting his own foot on it, and it rocks beneath his heel. ] The rubble is even.

[She moves similarly, dragging her feet over the ground without lifting them and nudging aside bits and pieces here and there. For her part, Claudia keeps her attention solidly on the floor, her gaze turned downward even though that does little to help. The only other thing she truly focuses on is Kirei's position relative to hers; she wouldn't want to cause problems by letting herself drift too far away from him, even with her 'tethered' as she is.]

[When he tells here there's a step, she nods, though that's probably hard to see beyond the slightest of wavers, if he bothers to look at all.]

All right.

[It's cautiously that she lifts her foot, trying to feel her way. At least she can stay balanced like this on her own.]
