Cuatro

Characters: Spain, open to everyone~
Setting: Floor Thirteenth, the cathedral
Format: I'll adapt to match.
Summary: Spain mourns.
Warnings: TBA

Amongst the murmurs in the cathedral, there is a second sound. A soft, muffled sobbing from one female nation, as she sits hunched over in one of the pews there.

Spain wishes to be alone after what she did earlier, remembering every detail with clarity. The sight of her beloved Romana wasted away to almost nothing after a so-called surgery, and then having to kill her herself, it was all too much for the older nation.

She remembers that the dead are revived the next day, and she had looked everywhere once morning came, but she couldn't find Romana anywhere. Her voice was gone by the second day of searching, and her feet hurt, but she couldn't give up.

Now, on the fourth day, she sits here, on the thirteenth floor, praying for someone to return Romana to her.

Watching Spain wipe her eyes confirmed what Naminé had already begun to expect. The blonde girl's frown grew as she realized the woman had probably been crying. But... why? When she thought about it, there were really plenty of reasons for anyone here to cry-- no, she couldn't think like that. She didn't have to, anymore.

Naminé was a bit surprised to be addressed, and regarded the woman who had approached her cautiously for a moment before saying, "Hello...!" Now, how to broach the subject? "What were you... um, were you... crying? Just now?"

"--Oh...! I'm sorry." Both for her loss and for asking. Perhaps an unfortunate victim of the experiments? It didn't really matter how it happened, she was sympathetic regardless. "What's her name?" Because surely another pair of eyes would be for the best, wouldn't they?

The name didn't ring a bell, and admittedly Naminé didn't know whether to be relieved or displeased, because at least it wasn't someone she knew who was missing, but at the same time it would be harder to find them. "I'll remember. I'll... keep an eye out." She wanted to say something better, something comforting, that she was sure Romana would be okay, but... especially with those lingering thoughts left over from the experiments, she found it tasted a little too much like a lie.

She attempted (and succeeded at) a smile when she was thanked and replied with a quiet, "You're welcome." Naminé straightened a little, too, as Spain did, more out of surprise than anything else. That surprise was quickly replaced with understanding, and she nodded. "I understand. Good luck."
