i'll take you on;

Characters: Ken and open!
Setting: The meadow floor (25).
Format: Either.
Summary: Ken's looking for some sparring practice. Hopefully people will answer his request from his network post.
Warnings: Violence, probably language. idk what else.

Ken didn't really care who came to see him in the meadow. Hopefully it would be at least one person, but he needed the practice anyway. He'd brought a few spears, in case anyone came to learn, but his more sturdy spear was in his hands.

He thrust forward, backward, and then planted it in the ground, using it like a pole vault to leap forward. He couldn't go as far as he used to - he still needed to adjust for weight. He wasn't as short as he used to be. Really, his spears probably needed to be extended, but he'd have to find someone to help with that.

He didn't trust everyone here. He couldn't. Really, there were only a few people he could trust - but that was enough for him. Still, better to give off the illusion of friendliness and openness in a place like this.

... He was thinking too much. Hopefully someone would show soon.

The kick is easily blocked by Diarmuid's spear, but he gives Ken an approving nod. It's good to see that he knows the value of feints. He pushes back against Ken's foot, to open some distance between them and then motions for the boy to come at him again.

Diarmuid brings his spear up to block her thrust, twisting to the side to redirect her momentum and possibly pull her off balance. At the same time, a delighted laugh slips from his mouth.

"Good call, but I will not let you win so easily!" While he is grinning at Dike, his words are for Ken. He is proud of how quickly and clearly the boy is thinking. That means Diarmuid can step up the use of his own abilities.

"Don't worry. It is only a matter of speech."

Quick thinking deserves quick action, so that is why Diarmuid allows himself to use more of his speed. He easily dodges Ken's attack, spinning himself and his spear around, bringing Gae Dearg's weighted end up aimed at the back of Ken's head.

When Diarmuid realizes that the strike is going to connect, he pulls back slightly, though doesn't stop it completely knowing that Ken wouldn't appreciate such a thing. However, he does pause in his attack afterward, falling into a relaxed ready stance.

"Take a moment and regather yourself. Are you okay?"

No electricity. That would be appreciated.

"It does. Please do get creative. I find it hard to teach people with concussions from getting hit too many times in the head," Diarmuid laughs softly before moving to attack. This time he leaps up over Ken's head, attempting, again, to attack from behind. The repetition has purpose. He wants to see how fast he can get Ken to start watching his back a little closer.

Diarmuid nods in approval at the parry, moving his spear smoothly from it to block the kick aimed at his knee. When Ken's kick connects with it, he pushes forward hard, trying to throw the boy off balance and make it hard for him to move onto another attack.

Instead of letting Ken's kick connect, Diarmuid simply leaps up and somersaults over the boy's head. The move again takes him behind Ken, but Diarmuid doesn't attack from there like he has before. This time he dashes to the side the moment his feet connect with the ground and comes in at Ken from the side.
