ITP: Maps
Characters: Arturia and big!Sephiroth
Setting: Floor 38, then 40
Format: Action
Summary: Sephiroth and Arturia share information regarding the layouts of downstairs.
Warnings: Diarmuid may have some 'splaining to do later on.
Notes: Backdated to the second day of the Carnival.
[The note said to come after lunch to the lounge on floor thirty-eight and so Arturia was here with the now fairly large and stuffed sketchbook she had of her maps of the tower held tightly to her chest to keep stray bits of paper from falling to the ground. It was not just downstairs she had mapped, after all, but the Tower itself and the majority of monsters she had encountered and their effects. Something she had worked on almost every day from the moment she had arrived here.
Truth be told, she had wondered where Sephiroth had been in the last few days--at least, she assumed his name was Sephiroth. He bore such a resemblance to the younger one she assumed that had been his name. Though she might have been wrong, like with Urotsuki and Sheba. Just because they shared a face, they did not share a name. Though the "S" on the letter made her feel confident about her knowledge.
When she reached the thirty-eighth floor, she looked around for him. He was a fairly tall man with long flowing white hair and piercing almost glowing green eyes. It was not hard to spot him and when she found him, she did not hesitate in walking up to him:]
For a moment I thought I had the wrong floor.

For a moment I thought I had the wrong floor.

There was a smaller, hardback book closed and underneath one of his arms - papers similarly sticking out of it in places. Only a few select notes that Sephiroth had been keeping, annotating and updating almost obsessively recently, even more so this week after the events of the last. He turned his head once he heard the sound of someone approaching and the rest of his body followed as he registered that it was indeed the woman he had petitioned to come here.]
One floor below the Gymnasium, Three floors down from the nearest elevator access. [He paused and flicked his gaze over Arturia curiously, as if to ask another question, though he flicked his attention immediately away and over her shoulder to the stairwell in the next moment.
They wouldn't be here for long, he had to make sure they weren't going to be followed.]
At least that's how I always remember it.
[It was followed by a light lifting of armor, indicative of a light shrug. He didn't need to ask if she'd brought her notes, the big sketchbook was proof enough of that.]

[Her retrieval unit, one with a cracked collar, lingers by the doorway, acting in a sluggish manner as if tired. Arturia had made the poor man go through his paces in retrieving her notes, but it gives an excuse for why she would be able to lose him easily. Something he seems to be willing to play along with even if she hadn't said a word to him directly.
She makes a mental note to ask Aria if this is her group's doing and to thank her for it.]
I suspect we can lose my, er, escort easily enough.

Perhaps that's why he eyes the retrieval unit lingering by the doorway, noting a difference in it's collar specifically, though he would worry about that detail when it became relevant. He wonders much more, about how much of what Arturia was going to share with him the Administration already knew that they knew about. Adding his carefully guarded additional information, he could be taking a giant risk.
It's the first time, that he's come out on his own to share anything. It's polar-opposite to his nature but really there is no other choice.]
I'm sure that we can. Lets go.
[Without further ado he heads in the direction of the stairwell. If they need to rush down flights of stairs to get the elevator quickly back up to 41 first before heading to his intended destination, then they will do just that.]

Without any hesitation she follows Sephiroth and the unit following her only makes a half-hearted attempt at following them. Losing it would be easy and despite her short stature, Arturia can keep up with Sephiroth easily enough.]
[Floor 40]
He looks back over an armored shoulder to Arturia and inclines his head inwards to the floor.]
It should work for cover for a while.
[He starts to lead a careful path through the storage room, stopping every so often to inspect a shadowy corner, to wait in case there might be a monster lurking around the nearest pile of boxes. Looking for a not-so shadowy area where they could spread their findings out on the floor, but with enough boxes behind them so as to hide their presence from the rest of the room and in particular from the stairwell.]

This floor changed all the time, after all. No one would question if the stacks were different from the last time and the floor was clean enough dragging it over didn't leave a trail.]
no subject
He follows and peers around the stack of boxes at the area she finds, and then turns his gaze upwards at the pile of them - inspecting them for any flaw that might mean they would fall. Satisfied by the time Arturia is already dragging a smaller stack back towards that area Sephiroth then places his hardback book down near to her sketchbook and retreats a little away to a third stack. This one he twists one of the boxes slightly out of alignment; if anyone were to follow them through the boxes this way then they'd be more likely to cause this stack to tumble.
It would give them fair warning of any intruder, at least.]

Nevertheless, with a small nod he follows, turns his back and at first crouches, testing how the space fit around him. Then he slips down into the floor and sits with his legs outstretched in front; to the side of their floor space. Sephiroth is very careful not to lean back against the boxes, and has balance enough to even scoot all of his hair out from underneath him so that he's not sitting on it.]
We should get started. [Sephiroth keeps his voice low, and reaches over for his book. Though it is out of reach at first, he wills it within his grasp easily and starts to leaf through the extra pages he's folded up inside the book. Eyes flicking from it to Arturia occasionally, keen to hear anything she has to offer.]

Most of it details the security measures in the various quarters of the Administrators, with the most detail on Dax's and Ruana's, as well as the machine that resurrects them, complete with notes on what she observed about the process.]
I cannot guarantee it is completely accurate, as I have had to rely on memory from the times I have been downstairs as well as ask questions of people who also have been.
no subject
No one can guarantee it's maintained the same at all times either. I recall at least one occasion when it was implied at being changed around.
[On account of 'damage' they had all caused when Dax had let them down there, if he recalls correctly. Sephiroth had been there as well, then, and shortly afterward on Ganon's own mission. He pauses on the diagram of Ruana's quarters, rolling another buried memory around somewhere between his conscious thoughts and that safe box such memories were kept in; he'd died in that room. Then tracing his gaze over the resurrection machine, he nods positively to Arturia.]
It seems accurate enough as far as I recall, at least.
[Sephiroth reaches out to one of his diagrams, spread out over three notebook-sized pages, to draw Arturia's attention over to it. It's a very rough diagram, hardly accurate when compared to her own extensive notes, but it illustrates the basic shape of the power usage of the Tower. It's annotated lightly with points of interest, such as 'Elevator shaft?' 'power cores?' and 'Zo.']
This is taken from a hologram, which our group accessed through a terminal in Riki's area. Again, accuracy is questionable; not long afterwards we all started seeing things.
sorry for the delay, dealing with a cold.
[She pauses over the sketch and points at his map.]
Why is Zo mentioned here?
no problem! \o/ my weekend ATE me! Christmas Parties and me are a bad idea
[Sephiroth watches Arturia start to copy down the map that until now has been kept exclusively within the Evil Alliance. Dimly gleaming green eyes skim over the several pages that she has presented as well, flicking rapidly as he commits as most of it as he can to memory.
That machine. Those hallways which had led off to, what seemed like, each of the separate Admin's areas. Before the end of Dax, this was. He fancies he might be able to pin point, where he had gone off alone and found Riki's control room at the time. All those screens. All those lasers-
Arturia's question snaps him out of it and he looks with the speed of a reaction to where she's pointing.]
This conglomeration of power usage, it's in his area. [He tilts his head to the side in a light shrug] I've not been there myself, or at least to my knowledge, but there are others that seem to know more about these details than I do.
[Begrudgingly, that much is obvious from his tone. Sephiroth has had to do a lot of taking others' words for a lot of things recently.]
I suppose no one can be deemed an expert.
