Something Missing [Backdated to the 24th]
Characters: Sora, OPEN
Setting: His room (1-06), Floor 52, Floor 78, Floor 62. Also, if you'd like Sora to run into your character in a more general area, like the cafeteria or one of the media floors (or any floor, honestly), feel free to choose that as a setting even if I don't have prompts for them. Also, even though the first prompt is locked, your character can run into Sora in his room in the evening.
Format: Anything is fine!
Summary: Backdated to November 24th; Sora dies, and comes back with a year's worth of tower memories permanently out of place.
Warnings: Nothing yet!
Room 1-06, Locked to Xion
[The long periods of sleep paralysis after death in the tower are no picnic, but they're much, much worse when you don't remember dying at all.
Sora doesn't know what's happening. He knows, of course, about the sleep paralysis after death (remembers it from after he died in the Labyrinth experiment, though it doesn't really stand out on the list of things that made an impact on him that week), and he's heard that it goes on for longer the more times someone dies here. Last time...well, it had felt like a long time, but he was pretty sure that it really wasn't. But now it really was going on for a long time, a very long time, and what was worse was that he didn't even know why it was happening.
Because he hadn't died, had he? He was sure of it, because how could he forget something like that? Sora tried to put the events of the previous day back together in his mind, just to be sure - he remembered running after Xion and Axel after he head them arguing, and all of them falling onto that really dark floor when the stairs gave out. But they had all gotten out of that just fine! And after that he had eaten and gone to bed...everything had been normal.
Unless he was forgetting something. Or maybe he didn't make it off that floor safely. Was he just imagining the other stuff? But...no, he was sure he remembered going to sleep, and everything before that. So what was going on? Was something else happening? Some other kind of experiment?
Not to mention that something else felt wrong, but he couldn't figure out what it was like this.
Sora tried not to be, but he couldn't help it - he was getting scared. He just wanted to wake up, move around, figure out what was going on. He wanted this to be over already.
Thankfully, it eventually was...and once it was, before he even opened his eyes, he was able to tell exactly what felt wrong. His body was strange; everything was a little too big, or a little too long. Like he just hadn't grown into it all yet. And the last time he had felt that way...
He opens his eyes as fast as he can, scrambling to sit up and look down at his clothes. He let out the biggest sigh of relief he could when he saw that they weren't Vanitas' (even though that wouldn't have made sense anyway, since he was gone, but...). In fact, he was so relieved that it took a few seconds for it to occur to him that the clothes weren't his, either.
They weren't, though. That was weird. And he was definitely different and - yup, gonna stand up now - taller.
Anyone who comes into the room will probably see him still standing there, still looking confused. Because where did this overnight growth spurt come from?]
Floor 52
[He was still having trouble wrapping his head around the idea that some - a lot of - his memories were missing. It was a lot of think about, and having that as a distraction in his head meant that now probably wasn't the best time to be exploring all the new...or, well, new to him...floors in the tower.
But, good idea or not, that's exactly what he's doing. What could it hurt? Well...a lot of things, but as long as he was careful, why not take a look?
For the most part, he really was trying to be cautious. He figured he shouldn't wander too far away from the staircase, and that when he got tired he should stop and go back. But not stepping too far from the staircase didn't mean not stepping off at all, right?
So, when he sees the floor made up of giant playing cards, he gets curious and decides to take a closer look, only to immediately realize that was a bad idea when he steps off the staircase and more cards rise behind him, blocking the way back. Now what?
Maybe there was someone else there who could help him...?]
Floor 78
[Wait, they have MAILBOXES now?
Okay, so maybe it wasn't all that exciting, especially with all the work it took to even get up to the floor - how could there be so many new floors, anyway? - but Sora really liked the idea. Now he could send stuff to people without having to go track them down all the time (or mess with the network, which wasn't great for sending messages to specific people anyway), like letters or presents or...wait, presents! Christmas was coming up soon, right?
Don't mind Sora as he walks through the mail room, searching for and taking mental note of the mailboxes that belong to his friends.]
Floor 62
[There were a lot more new floors than he thought - so many that he didn't even come close to making it to the top. But it was getting late, and he didn't want to be out after night.
Still, he had noticed the beach floor on the way up, and he noticed it again coming down. Though he's weary about leaving the stairs, especially after the mess with the card floor earlier, it's almost impossible for him to ignore a beach. Carefully he steps off the staircase, walks a little bit away...so far so good!
It wasn't one of the beaches he was used to, but even just seeing it, and just being able to hear the ocean, made him feel more relaxed. Okay, so he knew that he shouldn't get too comfortable, but...
Maybe he can take a breather here before making his way back downstairs.]

Floor 78
As the little girl wandered in, she spotted the boy, and, curious, wandered over to him, smiling.]
Good morning! Are you a good person?
no subject
His thoughts come to a halt when he hears an unfamiliar voice, smiling when he sees that it's a little kid (not that he wouldn't have smiled anyway - that is kind of his thing).]
Yeah, I'm a good person!
[Of course he is - it's not something he has to think about very deeply.]
I don't think we've met before. What's your name?
no subject
I'm Yotsuba Koiwai! And it's good that you're a good person! What are you doing? Sending mail?
no subject
Nice to meet you, Yotsuba! I'm Sora.
[And Sora wouldn't have minded - he's a grown up! He can totally figure out a mail system, right?]
And nah, I was just looking around. I've never been to this floor before.
[Or, at least, he doesn't remember coming to this floor before.]
no subject
[And with that, Yotsuba would give a small, polite bow like her Daddy had taught her to do. Whether she remembered it all the time was another matter. But..just because Sora was a grown-up didn't mean that Yotsuba wouldn't try and help him.]
But if you've never been here, you should get a mailbox! It's super fun to get mail, and I can send you flower crowns!
no subject
[Flower crowns? He wasn't sure what he could do with those, but there was no way he was going to say no to a little kid. Especially since she seemed so excited!]
Can you show me how to get one?
no subject
But, since Sora hadn't asked, Yotsuba just happily pumped a fist in the air.]
Sure!~ Enoch got one for me, so now I can get one for you!
[And with that, Yotsuba would quickly run off and tug on the hand of the nearest drone worker.]
Mister?! Sora wants a mailbox! You gave Yotsuba one, so you can give him one too! I wanna send him mail!
no subject
Um, excuse me, but...do I already have a mailbox?
[The worker says yes, and gives Sora a number - 0505 - and Sora thanks, laughing a little in...well, for now he's going to call it embarrassment.]
I guess I forgot that, too...
no subject
That's okay! Yotsuba forgets a lot sometimes too! But what else did you forget?! I'll help you remember! And I'll send you a whoole bunch of mail too!
[Prepare to be assaulted by a lot of drawings and flower crowns in the near future.]
no subject
[Sora gives a much brighter, more genuine smile at all of that - he appreciates the help a lot, and he isn't afraid to show it.
Yotsuba might be getting a lot of mail, too, even though Sora isn't sure what to send yet.]
Well, it's kind of a funny story...just this morning I woke up, and I couldn't remember anything that happened in the last year! Weird stuff, huh?
Floor 78
He spots Sora just as he closes his box.]
...Hey Sora!
no subject
Or, at least, who he thinks it is. He's not aware of the new abundance of Rikufaces yet.]
Oh, Riku! I was going to come look for you.
[Because if there's anyone he should talk to about his missing memories, it's probably his best friend.]
no subject
He'll make his way over to Sora once Sora stops.]
Wh--huh, you were?
no subject
[INTENSE SQUINTING.
Well, okay, it's not really intense squinting, but he's definitely got his thinking face on. Something isn't right. This Riku is a little bit older than he was when he left the islands...but not as old as the first Riku he met here in the tower. And if it's been a year, the other Riku should be about that old, too, right? Unless Sora was wrong and he wasn't. This was all still very confusing and it was kind of hard to guess.
Even if he wasn't, though, Sora was still more and more unsure of who he was talking to the longer he looked at Riku - and he's always been really good at telling them apart, too! This is weird.
Well, clearly, there was only one way to solve this mystery.]
Okay, I know it probably seems weird that I have to ask this, but...which Riku are you?
Are you still interested in continuing this?
[Well, the collar color is obvious, and if Sora doesn't know that the Rikus have different colored collars, that's a problem. So he's not going to point that out.]
The younger one. I'm pretty sure the other Riku is a bit older than I am, anyway.
Yes!
[Now that he's actually looking, the collar color thing is pretty obvious, too. He had just been so excited to see Riku that he hadn't been looking closely at all at first.
Actually...neither of the Rikus had a collar that color, did they? The ones Sora could remember didn't, which meant...
More things that he couldn't remember.
But this was still Riku, even if Sora can't remember this specific Riku, so maybe that's not what he should be thinking about right now anyway.]
Ah, never mind. I still really need to talk to you.
[And, Sora being Sora, he'll just get right to the point.]
Something's wrong with my memories.
Floor 62
at least there's light here. even if everything here is fake.
Aqua had just been sitting with her knees pulled up and arms resting on them to watch the waves, taking a quiet moment for herself before possibly going back to daily exercises or work, when she noticed someone else entering the floor. she was prepared to welcome them with a friendly smile and hello, and maybe conversation if they seemed open to it...
but she wasn't prepared for who she actually saw. her jaw drops, her eyes widen, and it felt like her heart stopped. a lot of time has gone by, but it's been impossible to forget those boys she met on a different beach...and one name that recently gave her so much hope again--]
Sora...?!
no subject
[Aqua notices Sora before he notices her, and his head whips around at the sound of the familiar voice calling his name. His jaw drops too, but just for a second, and then he smiles.
He still doesn't remember meeting her as a child, but he certainly remembers meeting her in the tower. He had missed her since she vanished, too, and wished that they could have spent some more time together...but it looked like they would have the chance, now!]
You're back!
[Unless, he realizes a few seconds after he says that, she isn't the same Aqua that was here before. Too late now, though. And even if she isn't, he's still happy to see her.]
1-06
Still, the peaceful sleep the Dream Eater's presence gave her made his appearance a welcome one. And it gave her an excuse to stop by Sora's room to escort Excalibur back.
Xion knocks on Sora's door, Excalibur bouncing and squeaking cheerfully next to her, Thalassa wrapped around her shoulders.]
Sora? Are you in there?
no subject
He answers automatically, his brain still not quite catching up to everything that's going on.]
U-um, yeah, hang on!
[His voice sounded different, too! Older, definitely. How in the world had he grown up overnight? Had the people in the tower done something, or...?
Oh, right. Door. Xion. Answering that.
He opens the door, looking just a little out of sorts...and then he immediately looks completely bewildered again once he sees her. She looks older, too, and...when did she get a cat and...a dog? A very cute, very bouncy dog.]
Huh...?
62
let me know if this isn't okay!
But instead of attacking, the weird...monster?...thing stops, looking very confused, and confusing Sora, too. He's not ready to put down the Keyblade yet, but...]
Huh?
no subject
And then he stares long and hard at that Keyblade before stepping out in front of the monster.]
Okay, I know he goes a little overboard sometimes, but is that Keyblade really necessary?
[Someone has yet to catch onto the amnesia. Whoops!]
