At least the food's free
Characters: Ling and everybody ever that existed.
Setting: Room 1-18, the Cafeteria, and anywhere in between.
Format: Starting prose 'cause my existence is tl;dr, but whatever you want!
Summary: Ling wakes up and is smart enough to not freak out and starts exploring. Except he's not smart enough to not be unconcious.
Warnings: Possibly massive intakes of food in the Cafeteria.
Sleep paralysis didn't sem to be a big deal for Ling, and actually he had opted to just keep on sleeping while he had some peace of mind so it didn't bother him-- wait.
Peace of mind?
It was at that thought that Ling sprang up on his bed in bewilderment; where was Greed? He could tell the Homunculus was still there (though he did check the tattoo on his hand to be extra sure), but he seemed awfully quiet. Was he still upset over kiling his friend? Perhaps he shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth.
He had changed out of that weird suit and into the black outfit that Greed was fond of, giving the letters a quick read over. Destroyed? It was true that another unsettling thing had come to mind-- he could feel the Qi from people, but this place.... it was different in an eerie way that made it almost as weird as the place those Homonculus had been, though different.
No, that was possibly more unsettling than Greed being quiet. Throwing on his trench coat, Ling grabbed his sword from the trunk and left the room. It was time to investigate, which meant going through each floor of the Tower as he progressively went farther and farther down the staircase from the dormitories.
In fact, he had gotten all the way to the first floor cafeteria and was doing pretty well. Until he realized he hadn't eaten in-- he actually did know how long was the scary part! Plus he was still tired from Greed's fallout with Wrath. Really tired. More than he remembered actually!
A growl of his stomach later and he was passed out on the cafeteria floor. In retrospect, maybe he should've gotten food first.
(OOC: Feel free to bug him on any floor between the dorms and the cafeteria, if you so please, just let me know where you are! Roommates are welcome to bug him in his room too~)

Cafeteria
Truthfully, he hadn't been paying much attention to the other man... that was, until he had collapsed in a dead faint on the floor. Cain's eyes widened in surprise, and he was quickly hurrying over to crouch over him.
"Sir? Can you hear me?"
no subject
"Aaah... so hungry....!" Which you could probably interpret as a yes.
no subject
"Just rest for a moment, I'll fetch you something."
no subject
He lazily allowed himself to be assisted into a chair, and then slumped over onto the table in front of him. Welp.
no subject
"Here, just take it easy."
no subject
He was finally able to get out an expression of gratitude in between bites. "Aah, thank you so much! To think I would find such a kind stranger in a place like this!"
no subject
"It's nothing, really. I couldn't let you collapse like that and do nothing."
no subject
"I can't thank you enough, really!"
You're lucky no one has to pay for this stuff here or else your debt would be getting really high."Oh, if you don't mind me asking, who are you?"
no subject
"Cain Knightlord, it's a pleasure to meet you."
no subject
"Mm, how long have you been here, if you don't mind me asking?"
no subject
It still seems strange to think that they had been imprisoned so long, let alone the ramifications for what that could mean for their world.
no subject
no subject
He has utter faith in his abilities to find a pattern and eventually outwit the people keeping them here, it was all just a matter of patience.
no subject
Seems Ling was a bit lost in thought now.
no subject
People were always so impatient, looking at the here and now instead of the big picture. What did it matter if it took a few months in the grand scheme of things?
no subject
"I need to get out of here as soon as possible, though."
no subject
Working on, but not yet succeeded. Still, Cain had perfect confidence that he would be able to solve this given enough time.
no subject
He crouches down next to him, poking him in his side. ... ]
Ling, get up.
no subject
[Initially he's indifferent to the poking, but when he turns and sees who it is, he's sitting up a little and looking overjoyed.] Aah, Ed! I would have never imagined meeting a friendly face here...!!
[he's so overjoyed he's getting emotional, man]
no subject
But he was sitting up. This was progress! And he knew, at the very least, that this was actually Ling. Greed would never let himself pass out on the floor like that. Nonetheless, he can't help but smile a little.]
Good to see you too. [He stands up and offers Ling his hand to help him up off the ground.]
no subject
[Ling gladly took the hand with a smile, using the help to pull himself off the ground. The observant viewer however, would note that the ouroboros tattoo was still easily visible on the back of his hand.]
How has your search been going?
no subject
... Ah, that's... kind of complicated actually. [since lol Al is here and human what] We can talk about that in a minute. What's the last thing you remember? From back home, I mean.
no subject
Greed accidentally killed one of his old comrades. When he realized what he did, he freaked out and attacked Wrath. After that he ran away and I was able to get control back for a bit. Why?
no subject
Did you read the letter by your bed when you woke up?
no subject
...Do you think it's true then? Did the Homunculus do this?
no subject
No. This is... this is way beyond what they can do. I don't think our world's been destroyed either. [He walks over to the nearest table and takes a seat, motioning for Ling to do the same.] See, the last time I saw you was back in Central, not too long after we went back through Gluttony's busted Gate. I just left Briggs when I showed up here.
no subject
Central? [Hm, that was quite awhile ago from what he remembered.] Have you been messing around at Briggs instead of working, shorty?
1/?
no subject
wait.]
done!
I'm not short, shut up!
no subject
OK, you're the real Ed. Just had to check! [You could never be too careful when you wake up in some strange bed at a foreign location and find someone you haven't seen in who knows how long.]
Library!
no subject
"What are you reading?"
no subject
no subject
"You like stories? What's it about?"
no subject
no subject
Ling invited himself to sit down across from Romeo, his arms crossed in front of his chest as he leaned forward on the table.
"Sounds like it's a bit close to home, doesn't it?"
no subject
no subject
"Rescue yourselves from this place you mean?" He unfortunately doubted there was much of a way to go about that given the feeling of this place, but....
