[for a world without]

Characters: Asch and any harassers.
Setting: Various, about the Tower. [Dated the 15th]
Format: [VAST SHRUG]
Summary: It was a brief vacation. Go back home, visit the (dead) family... Good things never last, though.
Warnings: Some deadhomeworld related sads.

[Room 1-16, then dorm hallways]

[Coming back isn't pleasant, but at least it isn't as unpleasant as waking up after dying. There's a groan before Asch sits up, glancing around the room. One bed still empty. Nothing they can do about it. Keep moving forward.

Anyone in the dorm hallways not long after will catch him walking up and down the halls, looking at the new names on the doors, seeing who's come and gone. A surprising number of "new" names are familiar - it looks like Zo's pulled back old faces, this time, instead of new ones.

Good. The last thing they need is more dead worlds to consider. Some veterans to help carry the load won't have him complaining, either.]

[Floor 77; mixed baths]

[Coming here after anything remotely tiring is practically becoming a tradition. It's the only place in the Tower that's really at all relaxing, now, and he needs it. Even if this isn't the same body, he spent three days climbing the nonfunctional lifts throughout Baticul and he's tired.

(It has nothing to do with the constant fear that he'd fall back down the shaft, get his neck caught in a cable just like the last time. It has nothing to do with seeing his home full of corpses and having nowhere to bury them in the iron framework of the city. At least the gardens had enough space for his family.)

It's a long soak; he stays in the water way longer than he really needs to, hair drifting around his shoulders. The only thing really out of the ordinary is that the hairpins are still tucked into his bangs, not doing much of a job at holding back his hair but there anyway. It's a good thing gold (even glamour-gold) doesn't rust.]

[Elsewhere]

[Routine reasserts itself. There's nothing to cook until some hunting is done, so for once, the kitchen isn't the place to find Asch. He spends some time in the library, once more stealing a beanbag from the lounge below for somewhere more comfortable to sit. The secret floor and the gardens outside it both get their share of his time, too.

Not everywhere is so routine, though. Neither the music room nor the media floor see as much use as they used to, and when the silence gets to bee too much - Too overbearing? Too empty? He isn't sure - Asch stows himself away on whichever of the two is closer, not caring what the sound is so long as he can hear it, ideally without having to interact with anyone else.

And if he sometimes gets caught humming along, well, no one has to know.]

[Did Asch miss his not-brother at all? His not-brother missed him, at least. So when exits the floor's bathroom and sees a redhead that isn't Lorelei wandering the hallways, he's going straight for said redhead.

How good is Asch at avoiding random hugs from behind?]

[Luke initially tries to resist being pried off, but gives up quickly enough, stepping around to Asch's side instead.]

Well excuse me. I didn't know you just got back.

[The relaxing atmosphere is momentarily broken by the creak of the door to the springs opening and closing, followed by the quiet padding of bare footsteps. Brushing her own hair out of her face with one hand (this particular noble isn't about to bathe with her jewelry) and holding her towel snugly around her torso with the other, Zelda approaches the spring... to find it occupied.]

Oh, my apologies, I--

[Didn't know anyone was in here. But that thought is put on hold as she takes a closer look, because she knows those hairpins. Which means the redhead attached to them is--]

... Asch. You have returned.

[And this probably isn't the best place for a reunion, but she's relieved enough that she doesn't really care.]

You will forgive me for being concerned regardless, considering Zo's refusal to bring anyone else in after this month.

[Don't make her think about you disappearing in any manner, geeze. Her irritation is shallow and fleeting, however, and when she notices his refusal to look her in the eye, she sighs, turning around on her heel.]

I will wait until you are done. You likely need it more than I do.

[Feferi aside, no one ever comes back from their dead homeworld in a very good emotional state. No need to make it worse with making him worry about propriety while trying to relax.]

Asch is better at a lot of social graces than Luke is

[Oi, who snuck up on who in the labyrinth, huh.]

I do not mind, truly, and one could argue otherwise.

[Could, because this isn't a battle of stubborn wills she sees worth fighting. So after a moment, those light footsteps will pad over to the opposite edge of the spring, followed by the splash of her easing in up to her shoulders (towel remaining firmly in place - not everyone is as gentlemanly as Asch).]

[As if the prey could sleep either, and also who had children to look after, huh.

Zelda has her head tilted to the side when Asch finally opens his eyes again, wetting her hands and threading them through her hair to wash it. And she has to stymie an amused snort at the jab at Luke. She wasn't expecting that.]

... I would say he would fit in with the Gerudo, but... [How to put this politely--] ... they do not care much for boisterous men.

[Nailed it.]

[Do you want a rematch, is that what you're saying.

Quite frankly it's amazing she's known him so long and yet is still so ignorant on the Luke Thing. Still, it doesn't exactly take a genius to put together that someone like that becoming overly apologetic after a vaguely alluded to event means said event was probably a big deal.]

Overly apologetic, hm... [She repeats, as though not able picture it herself.] I cannot say I know their opinions there, but they are thieves. It would be a counter-intuitive trait to have, I would think.

[Imagine an entire tribe of Noirs and you're on the right track. She's quiet for another moment, fiddling with a tangle or two as she thinks over how far she wants to tread here. They're here to relax, but...]

... That is quite the change in temperament.

[Diplomatic approach.]

[There's someone stumbling in a little awkwardly to the bath. He sinks down, his nose barely above the water. ... He's also humming something through his nose a little that Asch wouldn't recognize but someone from his world would recognize as the Jaws theme.]

[... You have a ridiculous bird-boy in your bath, Asch. What do.]

[Buh.]

What?

[He forgot about Asch's super hearing. ... Then again he's not the quietest in human morph anyway.]

Oh.

[Yeah hawks are not known for their musical skill. He grins a little bit. It's actually really good to see Asch. ... He was kind of worried.]

I'm glad you're back.

Yeah.

[ Whilst looking at the names on the doors, the one with the name Hilda would open. Fate is a funny thing. And the person coming out of it would probably look, well, familiar for lack of a better.

Asch might or might not have seen Hilda during the trip outside the tower; which didn't matter much as she had looked like little more than an average wireframe construct back then. Not so right now. She was dressed more or less like Zelda (with an abundance of purple instead of pink) and looked as though she could be Zelda's sister. Yet, she had purple hair and red eyes, which was often bad news. That and she was wielding a staff with an inverted Triforce.

Still, the Lorulean Princess looked at the man who happened to be before the door. She had business elsewhere and little time to waste, so nodded briefly so as to ask if he could get out of the way. ]

If you'll excuse me.

[ She was no replica, thank you very much. The mere notion of it would feel insulting to her.

That and she frowned when he replied 'excused'. She hadn't meant to genuinely excuse herself for anything. If anything, he was the one who should have excused himself for being in the way. Bah. ]

... That was rhetorical.

[ Pausing before adding-- ]

May I ask what you were doing before my room?
