Herald of the Future
Characters: Abel Nightroad and Cain Knightlord
Setting: Their room
Format: Actionspam
Summary: Cain and Abel got very dead, they're waking up.
Warnings: Mentions of death, probably foul language.
[There was a resounding CRACK and then everything had gone black. Not more than a heartbeat of consciousness left to know he was dying for certain, and yet he managed to feel so much in that singular moment.
Fear... He had never been afraid of dying, he had never truly believed that it would happen. He had always had the security of being the most valuable commodity on Mars, as well as being the pinnacle of achievement even among the clones. When things seemed bad or hopeless, he always believed in their superiority deep inside. He had never really been afraid, because he didn't have to be.
But more than anything, there was fear for his brother. He was so scared of Abel dying too, of his twin getting hurt in any way. Sheer gripping terror of separation, of being alone. They were one... one heart, one mind, just two sides to the same coin. They weren't made to be alone, they couldn't endure it. People might believe that Cain would cope with that possibility better, that he was more mature and level-headed. But the truth was, Cain needed Abel more than he needed oxygen, and the thought of being separated with such finality was enough to have him losing his mind.
Anger... It took him by surprise, the sheer force of his rage, like a swirling tsunami crashing through his body and razing everything else to the ground. He was furious that his death should be so meaningless, so ignoble, so... SOON. He had been patient, he had been SO patient, smiling and waiting for the perfect moments to act in order to get the future he wanted. He had deserved that future. He was better than them, better than anything they could throw at him, and he absolutely refused to die as a tool to humanity.
And then... it was all gone.
How long it had been, he didn't know. An hour? A day? A week? All he knew is that he had been dead, and now he was suddenly breathing once more. Unharmed, no pain, just sucking in a ragged breath as his body refused to move. Paralysed... he was... It might have been more frightening if his whole being wasn't focused on his brother, long minutes passing with only the sound of his hammering heartbeat for company.
Until abruptly he was moving... lurching off the bed almost drunkenly and looking around wildly for his brother, blue eyes intense as they swept the room.]

ABEL!

2/2 <:
the sound of knocking-- and that voice-- has him abruptly alert and eyes snapping open to the ceiling with suddenness. to say he's on edge is... well, an understatement -- but can you blame him?
blue eyes shift toward the door, and he doesn't quite recognize the voice. was it someone from the Tower? he's suspicious, even now... carefully-- so carefully-- detaching from his still-sleeping twin. Abel pads silently to the door... before sliding it ajar just enough to look out.
...and stare.
it's... the woman from the church?]
tagging because I love you both (what is sleep)
Abel... I suppose you don't remember me, do you? Isabel, from the cathedral?
LSKJDFLKJ just abel this time as cain is sleeping... LIKE YOU GO TO BED /shoos
any expression on his face is starting to dull, not that there was much before. it's just... her. the hell did she want...
this is an unimpressed stare that suggests he's going to shut the door in her face in a second.]
awww I WENT TO SLEEP wwwwww
How have you two been? Is Cain alright?
<:
It's not your concern.
<3
It may not be a concern of mine, but I'm worried about the two of you, especially after what had happened in the tower.
/holds...
...What happened in the Tower?
/petpets
Many things happened... the experiments, the killing, and now, the strange voices in the computer...
[ Her lip quivers, but she steels herself. She mustn't cry in front of him, she mustn't... ]
/purrrrrs
The voice in the computer. Has it said anything new since--
[...he doesn't even know when they died.]
...What's the last thing that happened?
/scritches
[ The pause before his question made her curious. ]
Since, what? Platiño, what happened to you?
/lskdjflkjsdf rolls happily!
... before releasing her hand and instead putting it at her shoulder to try and nudge her out of the door. he's just gonna shut it in her face if he can lol such a gentleman]
Stay away from the terminals, and my brother. I don't like repeating myself.
/scritchscritch you're so cute wwww
[ She stays firmly where she is, reaching out to touch his forehead. ]
... You're paler than the last time I saw you. Are you certain nothing happened to you?
[ Of course, worried mother figure is worried. And Abel can't do anything to shoo her off. ]
uhuhu... *^*
he has a hold on her hand before it reaches him, again-- a little bit of that unsteady manic edge in his eyes. no really, it's not a good time.]
You're not going to have fingers capable of touch if you try that again.
Turn around, and go back to wherever you came from.
;3; also I need to sleep. ;n;
I have lost more than fingers before, Abel Nightroad. My body heals quickly. I am not afraid of you, chico.
[ Even though she knew that here, in the tower, there was no longer a connection between herself and her people, thus her immortality is questionable. Not that she's going to reveal that to Abel, of course. ]
/tucks in?
All our bodies heal quickly.
[fucking watched Cain's skull go concave, and look at him... now, it's... impossible, but it's happened.]
I'm in a bad mood. Go hover over someone who gives a shit.
=3=
You're always in a bad mood, Platiño. Now stop being stubborn and let me take care of you two. You know the tower never takes care of their... prisoners, especially the children.
Re: =3=
Your patronizing attitude is going to land you somewhere you don't want to be.
[agh; he's trying so hard to be a good boy -- if only because he doesn't want to disturb his brother's sleep, beginning to drag her out into the hallway whether she likes it or not. once they're both outside, he backs her up against the wall and leaning down into her face, a hand on her shoulder to keep her still. his voice is low, quiet, too calm.]
My brother and I aren't children. We don't need to be looked after, and if you decide to make yourself an irritation, I'll deal with you like one.
no subject
[ She looks unfazed when he drags her out and keeps her against the wall, used to this sort of intimidation from other men who think they could own her. His stare is met with her smile, and she's intent on showing kindness even when threatened like this. ]
Abel, querido. I don't want to be an irritation. Don't think of it that way, please.
no subject
You are an irritation. Persisting in making yourself one, buzzing in my ear like a fly, is going to lead me to do what I would with a bug.
I'm not joking, Isabela. [as if he'd call her that ridiculous name she'd spouted in the Cathedral. 'Spain;' please.] Get out of here.
no subject
You would dare hit a woman, Abel? I know you're not that kind of man.
LJ don't deny me notifs D:<!
his eyes narrow... and its with a rather unsettling creak of bone she may want to re-think her decisions as he's starting to crush her hand with little effort.]
It wouldn't be worth lifting my hand.
LJ please just don't die on us.
It is worth losing one.
