Summary: Yosuke's in a half-thinking, half-escapist mood. What better place to do both?
Warnings: None!

[In the middle of this springtime meadow is one high school student, sprawled out on the grass with his headphones on and blasting music. He switches every few minutes between nodding his head to the beat and looking oddly contemplative. But he's aware of his surroundings, and as people pass he'll do one of two things]

[If Yosuke doesn't know you, he'll simply smile and offer a friendly wave]

[If he does, he'll slip the headphones off his hears and give a greeting] Hey!

Well, it's probably too soon to say, but I'll let you know if that changes.

What about you? Got a sweetheart back home?

Uh, me? Um... not really. I mean, I have friends that are girls, and I like them a lot! But they're not girlfriends, I don't think. [This kid is so pathetic, Yosuke. I am sorry. I am really sorry.]

[Don't be sorry - tease mode is engaging]

Oh yeah? So none of them give you those funny feelings inside? No hands you want to hold? [nudge nudge]

Uh, no! [What's going on, WHY ARE YOU NUDGING HIM] No, seriously, I don't! I promise.

[Pause, in which his Shame Meter drops to zero percent.]

...What about you?

First, that's a suspiciously strong denial. Just saying.

As for me... [He can't help but let out a laugh]

Back home, I was surrounded by cute girls who wouldn't give me a second glance. Occupational hazard, when your best friend is the most popular guy in school.

It is not. It is a perfectly reasonable denial.

...Really? It's harder when you're friends with one of the cool kids? [How does that work? --As usual, John displays his total cluelessness when it comes to teenage romantic culture. He may dig all those movies, but, man.]

Well, it's hard to explain.

[After all, it's not like Yosuke is just going to say 'He's better than me in every way so there's no way for me to compete', so eventually he settles on this]

He's a good guy, so he catches everyone's eye. That's all.

Hmm, really? That's weird... but I guess people are weird, huh. [He smiles.]

Well, it's the first time I've ever seen anything like it, so weird's a pretty good word. But he's a great guy, so I can't exactly get mad over it, I just wish he'd share a little.

I mean, I've never actually been in the same school or anything as him, but it seems like that's what would happen.

[He doesn't mean it derisively, he's just curious - it's becoming fairly apparent that John isn't exactly the most social of people]

Yeah. His name is Dave! [Pictured: zero shame.] Somebody told me that he was in the tower too, but I haven't seen him.

If he's really like Souji, then maybe you don't want to find him. He'll steal away all your prospective girlfriends, John.

... [He sits back for a moment, looking like he's thinking hard.]

[Giggle.]

[He can't help but laugh along]

Damn, maybe we should form a club. The "We Need Girlfriends Too!" club.

Now all we need is a catchy name. I don't think my idea's really going to cut it.
