Bon Anniversaire indeed [OPEN]

Summary: Canada discovers some new floors.
Warnings: angst, surely.

Seventh Floor

Canada peered into the pool, uncertain of its depths. She was a strong swimmer and those caves down below were intriguing. Maybe just a little dip into the water, but she didn't have a swimsuit. This was a strange thing to wake up to on her day of all days. Canada Day present perhaps? She wasn't sure. For now she waffled at the edge of the pool, Kumariie batting at the water's surface beside her.

Fifth Floor

The viewfinders were new and strange and she settled in front of one with a bit of wariness.

"Is...this home now?"

The sense of connection was almost immediate, but it took her breath away to see the devastation. The world she saw through the viewfinder was bare, desolate. If she stared long enough, she almost recognize landmarks and then suddenly, her heart hurt. A sudden heart-wrenching pain that brought tears to her eyes when even the view of her world could not. She felt her millions of people die and all that...that pain.

She pushed back from the viewfinder and buried her face in her hands, sobbing as quietly as she could. She wanted to be home...Only home was gone now wasn't it?

Molly had a habit of exploring the tower every day or so, just in case to see if she missed something. Today she found a new floor, along with Madlin (which may be the only name she remembers).

"Hey a pool!" she called in and scampered over to her, "are you going swimming? Can I come?"

Canada laughed and ruffled Molly's hair. She eyed the pool with a hint of wariness. It looked pretty but also a tad scary.

"I've not gone in yet actually."

Molly smiled up at her, not bothered by the hair ruffling nor catching on to Madlin's wariness, "Let's go in together! Do you like swimming?"

She laughed, looking toward the pool.

"Well I like swimming, but I'm worried about how deep that pool is."

"That's silly!" Molly says loudly, her voice echoing a bit in the room, "If you can swim then it doesn't matter how deep it is! And you said you can swim so it doesn't matter!! C'mon!"

"You aren't afraid of anything are you? What about drowning hmn? You can still drown even if you are a good swimmer."

Despite her words, she was heading for the changing areas.

She smiles, "Superheroes aren't afraid of anything! And I can swim so it's okay! As long as I don't fall asleep but I shouldn't use my power so it's okay and you're here if I need help and I can help you too!" Molly babbles as she follows her to the changing areas.

Canada nodded, well used to listening to children and Americans. Combining the two brought about super ultra 'listening while trying to keep track of the twists in the conversation and not zone out' mode of listening. She was surprisingly good at it, responding as she changed.

"I think I'll be fine dear, but thank you for the offer. Are you a superhero then?"

Oh good, one needs to have a lot of patience to listen to Molly because she'll keep talking and talking and talking and she'll never stop to the point you'll have to wonder when she stops to breath or if she stops to breath, ever. Sometimes she does. Most of the time? Nah not needed.

"Yup! I saved lotsa people and beat the bad guys!" She smiles up at Madlin.

"Well as long as you're careful about it, you can be an awesome superhero right?" Canada eyed the pool and grinned, "First one in wins."

She took a step back and jumped in headfirst. She slipped down into a cave for a half second before she kicked off the wall and broke the surface again.

Molly nods enthusiastically, "I AM an awesome superhero!"

She gets splashed by the water when Madlin jumps in the water, "No fair! You cheated!" But it's more of a laugh than a yell and she jumps in after her. A few seconds later she breaks the surface with a big smile on her face.

"It's cold!"

"It's not cheating, it's just being faster." She grinned and treaded water slowly, "Did you think it would anything but?"

"Nuh uh! You jumped in before I was ready!" she pouts, "That's soooo cheating!" Her head bobs up and down as she treads the water.

"I'll race you to the other side!"

"Is not~" She grinned and tucked a foot behind her to push off the wall.

"Ready. On three?"

Molly readied herself as well, hoping that she forgot that with her super strength her push off would get her pretty far.

"Three, two, one, go!" She says quickly and pushes off against the wall.

Canada pushed off smoothly, swimming with ease and grace. She was used to swimming in cold waters, but she knew she didn't really stand a chance against a super powerful mutant, even if it was a little girl.

Her push off was the best part, Molly's strong but not the best swimmer there is. She'd much rather splash around in the waves than swim laps.

Canada let Molly get ahead, even if she wasn't a strong swimmer. It wasn't important to win and Molly would certainly appreciate the small victory more.

Molly's head pops up at the other side of the pool, "Ha! I win!!" She pouts at her, "You didn't let me win cuz I'm small right?"

"Nope. I think the super strength push was a bit of cheating though."

She pouts, "I can't help it, I'm just strong!"

Canada laughed and shook her head, "Yes I understand."

Molly floats on her back and stares at the ceiling, "I miss the ocean. Have you ever been? We used to go lots."

Canada nodded and shrugged.

"I have been, but it's been quite some time since I've been to my own beaches."

She goes underwater but pops up a second later and resumes her floating "How come?"
