Bon Anniversaire indeed [OPEN]
Characters: Canada; OPEN
Setting: Floor Seven; Floor Five (July 1)
Format: Starting prose, whatever you want
Summary: Canada discovers some new floors.
Warnings: angst, surely.
Seventh Floor
Canada peered into the pool, uncertain of its depths. She was a strong swimmer and those caves down below were intriguing. Maybe just a little dip into the water, but she didn't have a swimsuit. This was a strange thing to wake up to on her day of all days. Canada Day present perhaps? She wasn't sure. For now she waffled at the edge of the pool, Kumariie batting at the water's surface beside her.
Fifth Floor
The viewfinders were new and strange and she settled in front of one with a bit of wariness.
"Is...this home now?"
The sense of connection was almost immediate, but it took her breath away to see the devastation. The world she saw through the viewfinder was bare, desolate. If she stared long enough, she almost recognize landmarks and then suddenly, her heart hurt. A sudden heart-wrenching pain that brought tears to her eyes when even the view of her world could not. She felt her millions of people die and all that...that pain.
She pushed back from the viewfinder and buried her face in her hands, sobbing as quietly as she could. She wanted to be home...Only home was gone now wasn't it?

"Hey, what's wrong?"
no subject
"N-Nothing...Um...I wouldn't use the viewfinders if I were you. That's all..."
no subject
"Why, what's in 'em?"
His mind flitted through various ideas, most of which could be pulled from the pages of the cheesiest B horror flick.

"Don't do it, please. I know you'll want to, but it hurts."

At least, he had been wandering until he came across the sound of someone sobbing. She was... someone he had seen on the network? The one that was always really nice to him. He'll approach awkwardly.]
... Umm... are you okay?
no subject
I'm fine. I'm alright. Sorry if I worried you.

Goes for the non angsty choice for a change
The forest had looked interesting but Romeo knew better then to wander off into forests alone without telling anyone where he was going. So he had hurried up the stairs. It hadn't even occured to him that a forest shouldn't fit into the tower.
The swimming pool had caught his attention though and he had been splashing around for a good half an hour, he was a strong swimmer but had not gone too far away from the edge because he had not swam in a while and it looked very deep.
"Miss Madeline!" He swam happily towards her, "Hello Kumago!"
no subject
"Hello Romeo. Is that all safe then--Oh where did you get a swimming suit?"
no subject
"Oh over there!" Romeo clambered out and ran over to one of the lockers, "There's lots and I was going to give it back once I'd finished!" Because he didn't want miss Madeline to think he had stolen it!
no subject
"I don't get how it can be that deep."

"Hey a pool!" she called in and scampered over to her, "are you going swimming? Can I come?"
no subject
"I've not gone in yet actually."

She put down her fabric on a nearby chairand placed a hand on the other girl's shoulder in a comforting gesture, "Home is what you make of it. This is not where you're from, nor where any of us are from, but what is needed is to make the most of this situation. There are good people here and I predict we'll be home eventually, even if later rather than sooner."
no subject
"Right. Right."

"It's difficult, having everything you believe to be fact taken while you don't realize. I do not know what you have witnessed and I do not know what you have been through. But I will listen if you would like to speak."

Which... would probably not be a very nice thing to do. So instead, France came to stand behind Canada and tugged her back into a hug. "Bon Anniversaire, ma petite~"
no subject
"Merci Maman. It is not much of a Canada day stuck in this tower though."
no subject
"..." A sly smile appeared on her face. "Allez-vous baigner nu?"

However, Nepeta hadn't had as much experience dealing with the humans than the rest of her friends. So, as she explored, she kept to the shadows, using her cat-like reflexes to hide and stalk any she came across. Silly humans with their silly pink skin and their silly same color blood! When she reached the fifth floor, she spotted a familiar face. It was that nice not-a-human-is-apparently-a-country girl! But what was this.. she seemed upset! Nepeta couldn't stand for that. "Are you okay, miss Canada?" She called out, still hidden amongst the shadows of the room.
no subject
"Oh--um. I'm fine, merci."
