Bon Anniversaire indeed [OPEN]

Characters: Canada; OPEN
Setting: Floor Seven; Floor Five (July 1)
Format: Starting prose, whatever you want
Summary: Canada discovers some new floors.
Warnings: angst, surely.

Seventh Floor

Canada peered into the pool, uncertain of its depths. She was a strong swimmer and those caves down below were intriguing. Maybe just a little dip into the water, but she didn't have a swimsuit. This was a strange thing to wake up to on her day of all days. Canada Day present perhaps? She wasn't sure. For now she waffled at the edge of the pool, Kumariie batting at the water's surface beside her.

Fifth Floor

The viewfinders were new and strange and she settled in front of one with a bit of wariness.

"Is...this home now?"

The sense of connection was almost immediate, but it took her breath away to see the devastation. The world she saw through the viewfinder was bare, desolate. If she stared long enough, she almost recognize landmarks and then suddenly, her heart hurt. A sudden heart-wrenching pain that brought tears to her eyes when even the view of her world could not. She felt her millions of people die and all that...that pain.

She pushed back from the viewfinder and buried her face in her hands, sobbing as quietly as she could. She wanted to be home...Only home was gone now wasn't it?

FIFTH

Nepeta had been exploring all through the tower, taking in the sights and sounds of her new home. Honestly, she was liking it here a lot better than in the Veil-- there wasn't the constant threat of being discovered and killed (again, that is. mean ol' jack and his mean ol' stabbings...), and everything was calm and nice and happy. No more sgrub, no more Jack, no more scratch, no more deaths... it was nice.
However, Nepeta hadn't had as much experience dealing with the humans than the rest of her friends. So, as she explored, she kept to the shadows, using her cat-like reflexes to hide and stalk any she came across. Silly humans with their silly pink skin and their silly same color blood! When she reached the fifth floor, she spotted a familiar face. It was that nice not-a-human-is-apparently-a-country girl! But what was this.. she seemed upset! Nepeta couldn't stand for that. "Are you okay, miss Canada?" She called out, still hidden amongst the shadows of the room.

"What did you see in there?" She inquired, tilting her head thoughtfully. "Was it something sad?" She had kind of gotten over sadness, really. Her planet had been destroyed, she had experienced death with both herself and her friends, and she had been constantly under the threat of dying permanently. Being a troll makes you a little hardier than most.

"Are you sure?"

Nepeta seemed a little worried, and glanced over at the view finder. "Is there something in there?" Of course, as they say, curiosity kills the cat. So Nepetas gonna go right ahead and look into it.

Huh.

Blown of shatters of Alternia, blown up shatters of Derse, blown up shatters of their base in the Veil... she didn't really feel all that affected, but she supposed she could understand why someone would. So! You know what Canada? You get a hug.

Nepeta walked back over and wrapped her arms around Madeline, giving her a soft squeeze. "It's okay! Kanaya says that they're lying and our purrlanets are all okay! So don't be sad, alright?"

Nepeta stroked her hair-- oh gosh so pretty and soft and not black!-- and smiled as reassuringly as the cat girl could possibly muster. "That's exactly what our captors want, y'know? They want you to think its all real and make you sad and believe their lies! So don't give them the satisfaction by furrowning, okies?"
