Hammer to Fall

Summary: Fawkes grows tired of being unarmed, and goes to rectify this.

Between the various incidents that have gone on since he's been here, Fawkes has determined that this place, like the Capital Wasteland, seems like it will require a more violent approach - especially with the newer residents - namely, the monsters.

Lacking his weapons from home, the best thing to do in a situation like this is improvise.

Fawkes is currently rooting around the workshop for tools and parts he can use to craft a bludgeon of some sort - one of the tables has broken and warped metal bedframe pieces spread upon it.

...kind of a pity that the majority of these tools are sized for smaller hands than Fawkes', but he'll attempt to make do.

She seemed unafraid of the man-person, looking up at him curiously. "It is a place of commoners, I assume? The working community."

There was a pause before Fawkes answered - he was considering the wording of that sentence, as it reminded him of the residents of a different tower back home. One he only visited once, and that was once too many.

This girl, however, she was a child - perhaps she simply knew no better. "I suppose under normal conditions, this would be a place for working people, yes." He stepped around her, back to the table he'd set his materials out on before, and placed the tape and mallet there, then began to look over the parts of the bedframe.

She didn't move from where she's standing, just regarding him, his size, and the tools he's working with. She had seen people work like this in her kingdom before, back when she was younger than this, but it was only from afar. Up close, it was an entirely different experience.

"What are you making?"

[lucidmutant]

"A weapon," he answers, taking one of the longer pieces of bedframe, and bending it slowly, then bends it the other way. He continues doing this, working it enough so that it will eventually be broken into two smaller pieces. "This place is dangerous, and I was not fortunate enough to have any of my own weapons come with me."

Rilianne cocked her head to the side, hands behind her back. Interesting. A man of his size still needed a weapon to protect himself? "A weapon. What sort?"

"A bludgeon."

Those pieces were placed against a center-piece, and taped tightly to it. The ends of both pieces extended past one end of the center part, and were folded outward, giving the thing a general T-shape.

[akunomusume]

"Bludgeon?"

She has seen swords of many kinds, lances and bows, but never had she heard of a weapon called a 'bludgeon'. Curiously, she watched as he pieced the weapon together, wondering how the final product would turn out like.

"A weapon used more for crushing, for blunt force. Like a hammer, or even a heavy stick."

Other pieces were broken to match the length of the top of the device, at least roughly, then Fawkes began to tape them on one at a time. "It is rather crude, but hopefully it will get the job done for a time."

[akunomusume]

"Oooh, so it's like a big stick you just swing around to hit people?" she continued asking, her curiosity getting the better of her. She had a certain fondness for offing people's heads ever since she became queen of her kingdom, and getting to learn about more weapons was making her excited for some strange reason.

Fawkes nods as he continues working at piecing the thing together. "This is a very poor example, but I'm working with what I have. Desperate times and desperate measures and all that."
