Characters: England and all of the cultured people. Open!
Setting: Floor 25.
Format: Starting action, but will match!
Summary: England is having a teatime picnic. It's long overdue. Threadjacking is okay and welcomed! Join an existing thread and make it a tea party or make a new thread.
Warnings: Probably language since it's England. Also possibly threadjacking, so just say in the subject if you don't want that!

[So there is no fancy garden table and chairs or quaint little sitting room, but the innocuous spring floor is almost as nice. He's laid out a length of cloth snatched from the workshop floor to act as a makeshift blanket, and has a teaset out, with a full pot of tea, multiple cups, and sugar. No milk or honey, due to the restrictions of the Tower's kitchen, but he can deal.

And he's actually smiling a little. Do you dare risk disrupting him in this almost fugue-like state?

Of course you do, he's just a silly grump with pretty plates and big eyebrows. Come join him for tea.]

Oh, no it's OK! I have got this! [Hopefully England wouldn't mind having some company, because Echidna shuffled with the books some more and carefully placed them on the ground next to the blanket.]

Well, if I am allowed to be present then we can make it a two-person party, heheh! And I promise I will not critically scrutinize your duties as a host.

Of course you're allowed to be present. It's terribly rude to turn away good company. [And he is a gentleman, thank you very much.] Welcome to the party, then.

[He pours her a cup of tea while she's getting situated, and then eyes the books with intrigue, eyes traveling the lengths of the spines -- though he can't read the ones that are turned away from him.] What have you got there? That's quite the load to be carrying around.

Hooray! [She clapped ever so slightly in joy.]

[When the cup was poured, she happily accepted it. She had never had tea much before (her parents mostly bought fruit juice or iced tea rather than teabags), but when she sipped it, she found it surprisingly good. Delicious!]

Oh! They are a bunch of books I got from the library. This one's about super novas, [At which point she picked up one of them with one hand] aaaand this one's about theories on nuclear fusion. [And she help up another. And so on and so on, she listed the topics of various books she brought with her, most of which had to do with space or chemistry.]

[As she lists off countless numbers of topics that seem absolutely absurd for a girl of her age to be proficient in, he can't help but feel a headache come on. Precocious obsessions with science and math remind him far too much of someone else he's associated with.

He gives her a mildly impressed look, regardless.] Well, isn't that something? [England's nothing to sneeze at in regards to science himself, but the nuances and art of language have always been his passion.] Are you hoping to go into a scientific profession?

[She looks about that age where she'll be deciding what she wants to do for a living, but maybe she's older than she looks and England has been mistaken this whole time.]

Yes! My parents are both scientists and I'm going to school to be one too! I'm working on getting a major in neuroscience and nuclearphysics and a minor in chemistry, but I was thinking of maybe changing one of my majors to astronomy or aerospace science.

[Oh geez she's talking about school and now she's just gonna keep on rambling.] Actually I really wanted to be an astronaut when I was little! But I do not think I could pass the physical tests and stuff.

[An astronaut. Of all things.

She just sounds so excited that, against his better judgment, he decides to mention it.] I have a-- [u h m what word does he use here] --colleague that once entertained that same dream.

...actually, I'm fairly sure he still does, on occasion.

[Where is America, anyways? He hasn't seen him since that visit in the infirmary.] Do you have any ideas as to what you'd want to be instead?

Oh wow, really?! [She beamed. Maybe they knew some stuff about NASA and becoming astronauts! (He certainly seemed like the kind of guy to know important people and stuff like that). At the least HEY it was someone else that knew and/or cared about space!!] Cooool~!

[--Oh right wait he had asked another question.]

Well I thought about trying to be one of those mission control scientists that work on the space program, which is why I was thinking about changing my major. But I also kind of want to work at my mom's laboratory and study brain pathways and biological-psychology stuff like that.

[He smiles a little.] Yes, really. He's always been drawn to the freedom of the skies. I suppose planes just weren't enough.

[...yeah let's talk about something else!!!]

I'm sure you could go into any field you desire -- you seem to be a very bright young lady. The sciences have never really come naturally to me, personally, so I admire anyone that has a mind for it.

[...mostly anyone.]

[Subject change accepted! Echidna didn't know much about planes anyway.]

[She did however, beam happily at the compliment, and gleefully giggled.] Thank you! I think they are really fun, but a lot of my friends don't get it, so I know how that is. [Look at you, Rai.]

What kind of stuff do you like to do then?

[Oh wait is it time to talk about himself? It sure is. I'm sorry, Jade.]

I have a passion for the art of the English language. Literature, poetry, and prose of all kinds are my forte. [You don't find the subtleties of emotion in science, after all, and without subtleties he'd probably explode from all his repression!] I also dabble in the supernatural and the occult, so I suppose we're at opposite ends on that point.

[He raises his cup for a dignified sip.] Most of my acquaintances have no appreciation for either of those things, though, so perhaps we're similar in that regard.

[metawoof]

[His sip reminded her that oh hey, she had a cup too! And so she took a sip while she listened.]

Hee, that's true! We really are opposites, because I was never very good at English class. Although I think some of your friends might be kind of lame if they don't want to hear anything about ghosts ad stuff.

[Another laugh and a dignified sip trying to emulate him, and she held out another hand and pointed up.] Remember, sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic!

I've become quite good with math and science over the years, but it's a bit of a chore. English comes easily to me. [As it should. It's his language after all.

He chuckles a bit at that.] A fair point, though it's a little easier to do the distinguishing in reverse. [It's a lot easier to call all technology magic than to call all magic technology.] It isn't just ghosts, actually. Any creature that's commonly considered "otherworldly" is within my sight.

[Flying mint bunny is asleep in his room at the moment. Perhaps he'll have Echidna meet her.]

Sufficiently advanced magic is indistinguishable from technology? [She tried that sentence, and yeah, that sounded like it made less sense than the original one. BUT WHATEVER there were more interesting things to talk about!]

Ooooh, you can actually see magic creatures?! [Suddely very interested and more excited looking!] Like what? Can you see fairies and stuff like Link?

[Oh, she's actually excited! He pretty much completely forgets about the thread of magic and technology being similar to latch onto this new line of conversation.]

Indeed! I can see most any creature of magic or lore, unless they take special measures to hide from me. You can see many of them if only your belief is strong enough. One of my fae companions has actually come to the Tower with me, if you'd like to meet her sometime.

[Outwardly, he shows only polite curiosity, but he's actually pretty eager to ask:] if I might ask-- you're acquainted with Link as well?

[Her face is basically omg fairies right now.]

Eeee, cool! When I was little I tried to find fairies in my garden once after I watched Peter Pan, but there are no magical creatures in the world I come from. [Froooown.] But if your friend is real I would love to meet her...!

--Oh, yeah! I met him a bit after I got here in the meadow-y floor I think. He said he had a fairy friend back home, but they didn't come with her.

A small frown touches his lips.] Well, that's a terrible shame. Perhaps the disbelief in your world merely drove them into hiding. However, I assure you my friend is quite real. She's very sweet-- I think you'll like her. [He looks amused for a second, over the rim of his teacup.] She's even green in coloration.

--Ah, yes, we've spoken of similar things. He's a wonderful fellow to keep company with. [He is England's Hylian BFF.]

[She would've happily clapped here, but there was kind of a teacup in her hand, so she just shrugged her shoulders and brought her arms up happily.] Well I am glad that they are still OK then! And I am glad your friend got to come with you!! Heehee, I can't wait to meet her~!

[And a teasip.] I'm glad! He seems really nice, but I think he's been a lot busier lately.

It was a pleasant surprise to find her in my trunk. None of the others followed, but I am glad to have her, at least. [Though he did miss everyone else. Uni and the fairies...]

It does seem that way. Can't fault him, really. Heroes have duties to attend to. [...not that he can believe he really just said "heroes" in a serious context outside of referring to soldiers, but.]

Probably. Fighting dragons, rescuing the maidens, defeating the evil scientist kidnappers and freeing the oppressed Towervillage!

[The tea cup was precariously perched on her knee while she made stabbing and swishing motions at the air, as if she were wielding an imaginary sword. Hee~ I'm sure your other friends are fine though! Maybe they even have other heroes to help them!

[Thing is, that actually sounded like something Link would do. And wouldn't that be nice? It'd be just like in his fairytales. Then maybe people wouldn't call him crazy.

Of course, he's sure his friends are fine on their own, but...] Well, the English do have many knights in shining armor to spare. [Most of those legends came from him, after all!]

See, it's perfect! [She stopped her pretend sword-fighting to take the cup back before it went smashing onto the floor off her knee.]

Nothing to worry about. And we even have some heroes here too, so maybe King Arthur will show up or something!

[Hey, she knew some old timey stuff.]

[Does England get a little starry-eyed at that? No, of course not, he's too dignified for that. Don't be silly.]

Wouldn't that be something? I'd certainly be enthused to meet him.

[Dignified her ass, she spent her time hanging out with nerds. She can see those stars!!]

I bet it is possible! I have seen all sorts of cool fantasy and real people around here, so it could totally happen!
