[Eridan sits on a rise on the meadow, fidgeting as he waits for Willow. He has something burning a hole in his pocket, a little trinket he's spent the last several days working feverishly over. He's quite proud of it, but nervous about the reception it will get. Will it be good enough? Will it offend Willow in some way?

But he's determined to give it to her. He just has to hope that nothing horrible happens before he can do it. The last time he waited for Willow, he got attacked by the Grand Highblood Subjugglator and nearly died. Of course, they also became matesprits that day, so it could have been worse]

[She giggles faintly, surprised at the touch and hair prickling up. She has to admit she's pleased with herself to get expressions like that out of him.]

I could be persuaded to give you some hints. If you make it worth my while.

Oh really? [His fins prick forward with interest, quivering faintly like the ears of a cat. His claws play further down her spine] And wwhat wwould be wworth your wwhile, other than my swweeps a devvotion?

[She squirms just a little, reflexively, and pushes closer to him. It's a totally different feeling than doing this with Tara-- more like doing this with Oz, and Willow's surprised to find that she likes the difference.]

Hmm, that is a toughie. I do already have anything I could want, just about... Except, maybe, kisses. What do you think, hints for kisses? [She checks her enthusiasm for a second to ask, more genuinely,] Or would that be too much?

[As much as Willow loves flirting and making out and being soppy, she's far too considerate to forget his role in it, and she can't imagine that his reluctance from the other day won't appear ever again. Though he has seemed game for anything she wanted to do, today.]

[He IS game, maybe not for anything, but for this. Last time, the expectations he was putting on himself were too much, especially after nearly getting killed at the Grand Highblood's hands, and even now he's really not sure how he'll deal with it when it gets time to pull out the pail.

But right now he doesn't feel like Willow is likely to push him further than he's prepared to go. Instead, it just feels like...playing, like having fun, with no expectations or anything to fear, so even things that might have triggered him a bit - like touching his fins - are totally fine.

And she really is the cutest, sweetest thing in the world. Certainly, he has nothing to fear.]

Doesn't sound like too much. I think I get your hint... [He grins and leans in to press his lips to hers, all enthusiasm and sweet desire to please]

[She's relieved that he seems completely undaunted, because it is true that the last thing she wants to do is push him. She's not so sure she's ready for anything much past playful make outs in the grass, herself. But makeouts in the grass she is very ready for.

Earlier he'd seemed hesitant to kiss her too deeply, maybe because of his fangs, she guesses. But Willow wants to try it; she has to learn how to do it without getting hurt eventually, and why not right now? Plus... how badly he wants to please her makes her feel reckless and eager.

Willow presses back, letting her eagerness carry her into it, and... it's so warm. It feels warm, so much better than she was expecting, even. Why had she been hesitating? Her concerns about everything else paled in comparison to the reality, to the immediacy of being here, with him, safe and wanted.

So she kisses him more deeply, slow and careful, trying to feel where his fangs are and just focusing on the sensation of it.]

[Woah, she's really getting into it, and he opens his mouth nervously as her tongue delves into it. He's worried about his sharp teeth and fangs and her soft little mouth, but if she's willing to take the plunge, he's not going to stop her.

And she's hot. His own body is several degrees cooler than hers, and she feels like a furnace against him, especially right now. He makes a little chirping sound of pleasure and slides his tongue against hers, pressing in closer.

Wow, flushed kissing is pretty much the best thing ever.]

[She wouldn't say that Eridan is cold to the touch now that she's pressed up against him, the whole line of their bodies touching, but he's pleasantly cool, especially with the warmth of the sun a footnote on her back.

Her tongue scrapes against one of his teeth, and she shivers. The second time it happens, she pulls back; it's getting kind of intense, Willow having forgotten how fast kissing can affect her. She feels lightly dazed, and she runs her tongue over her lips just for the feeling.

No, she has to collect herself. But something about it has made her more certain than ever in dating him. Maybe it was the physical reality of it or just how easily they spoke and kissed and moved against each other, how much he trusted her and how sweetly nervous he was about everything, but Willow... her doubts were starting to fade entirely. That threat she'd made earlier about him having a confident Willow on his hands wasn't true yet, but it was getting there. It was getting close.

She smooths her hand through the purple streak in his hair as she pulls back, and lays there, looking at him openly with a kind of tired contentedness.] We definitely need to do this again. You are so... [She reaches for a word, and has to start over.] You make me feel like I don't have to think about anything else. Just you.

[She's so warm against him, it heats his whole body, and she tastes strange, but wonderful at the same time. The dazed look in her eyes matches the one in his, and he smiles softly at her, leaning down to give her a nuzzle and tilt his head in an odd way before pulling back. If she'd had horns, he would have rubbed them together, but at the last moment he remembered she didn't have them.]

I sure hope wwe get to do this again soon. [He chuckles sheepishly] It's - you - are just so fuckin' wwonderful, I couldn't evven express it.

I don't know what I'm doing that's so wonderful, but I hope I keep doing it. [She's happy to nuzzle back, barely noticing the odd gesture that she can't quite place.]

... We should probably do something that isn't just make out and tell each other how wonderful we are, [she adds a second later, smiling and looking similarly sheepish.] At least, I don't know, get to know each other better. There's so much I don't know about you.

Just bein' wwith me is wwonderful enough.

[He chuckles softly and shrugs] Wwell, I'm enjoyin' it, but I suppose wwe could do something else, too. There's so much I don't knoww about you, too. Like... [He thinks for a moment] Wwhat wwas your lusus like?

Maybe you should raise your standards, then, [she teases, though she is serious about wanting him to feel secure enough to have criticisms of her. It's something that is only recently important to her.]

I'd be happy to tell you about my lusus, but first you have to tell me what one is. I missed that part of the tour.

Don't think there'd be anyone wwho'd meet a standard like that. [When he thinks of something to criticize, he'll say something. Probably.]

Oh... wwell, I mean, the thing that raised you, from wwhen you wwere little. Or do humans do that by themselvves?

Oh! No, we don't raise ourselves. We just call them our parents-- they're our genetic donors. [She picked up this term from the Summoner, so she can rattle it off easily.]

My parents... are kind of busy. They're proud of me and everything, but I don't see them that often. My friends are really my family, and I guess you could say Giles is like our dad. Um, like a lusus that takes care of all of us, though we didn't meet him until we were older.

Oh. [He cuddles her a bit, thoughtful] Wwe nevver meet our genetic donors. No wway to knoww wwho they are. Evven Dualscar, bein' probably my ancestor might not havve contributed the genetic material specifically that wwent into my egg. I just think a him as my ancestor because wwe're pretty similar in appearance and havve the same symbol.

Are they like you?

Humans put a lot of emphasis on knowing who you're related to and how. We have a hundred different words for the relationships-- it'd probably make your head swim.

As for being like me... um, well, complications of genetics aside, my parents are a little like me. We look alike, anyway, and they care about social justice and they're very intelligent, and all that. But they don't know anything about demons or Buffy being the Slayer, so we can't... really be that close. [This is splitting hairs a bit, but Willow doesn't really want to get into how uninterested in her her parents are.]

[He nods thoughtfully] Howw come they don't knoww about those things? Are they really that oblivvious?

That's part of it, [she admits, because she can't bring herself to be dishonest with him.] Most people just... don't want to know. They'll see things, and explain them away. My parents have, too.

The Scoobies are really more like my family. Buffy, Xander, Giles... and whoever we're dating at the time. [Her smile returns, more sincere.] Which includes you, bucko. So you're like an honorary Scooby yourself now.

Sounds to me like they're just closin' their minds to the truth. Not too smart.

Really? [He beams] It's a silly name, but I don't mind.

You're not wrong. It's just the way it is.

It's supposed to be silly, [she admits, teasing a little.] It's based on this old TV show about a group of kids that solves mysteries, usually having to do with ghosts and stuff. We're a silly bunch when we aren't getting into life-threatening shenanigans.

Oh! Wwell that sounds like a good name, then. Vvery significant and appropriate. [He chuckles and kisses her lightly on the nose] I'm proud to be a Scooby.

[She giggles in surprise when she gets kissed on the nose.] Good, cause I'd be surprised if they stayed away forever. Kidnapping and demons and interdimensional nonsense is Scooby territory.

And... I'd love to have all my important people in one place.

[He smiles softly] I knoww howw you feel. But wwe'll do wwhat wwe can to make that happen, okay? You and me.

Yeah. Even if we get home, I'm sure there's a spell somewhere that would let me cross dimensions.

[She twines their fingers together.] I'll find you.

[He beams and snuggles in close]

I'll wwait for you...

We'll figure it out, [she promises, and it's partially a promise to herself.] I won't lose you.
