Summary: Sollux is out and about, looking for love in all the wrong places.

He didn't notice the hand until it reached out of the bookshelf and clawed at his arm. But the moment he turned to see it, he fell in love. He reaches out, crooning, and takes the hand in his own. It scrabbles at his skin, tugging, and he pets its arm lovingly.

"Hey there...Come on out? Come on, there'th got to be more of you, hmm? I won't bite...much..."

[Not taking his eyes off the boy(?) or letting his guard down, he keeps a steady stance. At the strange vocabulary, he gives him a confused look.]

If that means "beast that will stand over your mangled corpse, having itself a good laugh, then feast on your flesh", then yes. You're correct. Besides, I only cut off its arm. Can't be dead... [then he adds with a small shrug:] ...yet.

Maybe the arm wath the whole thing! [The stump's disappeared now, back into the wall, but Sollux doesn't look. He's still squared off against Henry, growling like a dog] And it meanth...boyfriend! To a human, anyway. What giveth you the right? We could have been happy together!

[Henry tries not to snort unattractively, he really does! The kid looks so distressed and angry over something that looked about two seconds from ripping his arm right off.

There's a lot of information to take in here, what with the whole not-being-human thing, the laser eyes, etc. But he takes it all in stride. Gotta keep his cool, like usual.]

I apologize if I ruined such a beautiful union of alien and monster, but I believe my assumptions were correct. [Briefly eyes the angry scratches on Sollux's arm.]

[Sollux looks down at the scratches and rubs away a bit of yellow blood, sighing. He growls a bit]

[He almost feels bad. Almost.]

Glad we got that sorted out, then. Can I trust you not to blast me again with your...optical rays or whatever?

Tho long ath you don't kill anyone elthe I'm in love with. [He scowls] What'th with the light showth? I've never theen anyone deflect my lather eyeth like that.

[He shrugs as if to say "Fair enough," instead of actually...saying it...then looks down at his saber, which he drops to his side.]

Well, to be honest, it was a spur of the moment decision. I didn't think it would deflect at all. Just my luck, it seems. [Then he nods towards him.]

But I believe the much more interesting specimen is you. Never fought against someone with eye...lasers before.

Did you jutht call me a thpethimen? [He sneers, a mouth full of pointy fangs] You're the alien, ath far ath I'm contherned, human. I'm not interethting. I'm a low-blood troll with crathy ath shit pthychic powerth. Nothing more.

[He chuckles airily, finding these gray-skinned kids to be so testy and adorable all at the same time. His encounter with that strange Eridan fellow had been pretty similar to this one, now that he thinks about it...]

Are you sure? You cannot make things spontaneously explode with a snap of your fingers, or rain blood, or Heaven's forbid, turn things to gold by touching them? [Rolls his eyes.] Of course you are, you ass. Humans can only dream or attempt to mimic a show of such power.

[Sollux shrugs] That'th not true. I happen to know a few humanth with pretty imprethhive powerth.

[Smirk] But I guethh you know everything.

[OK, you got him this time. He shoots him a sort of confused look.]

All right, say there are humans with these "impressive powers." That does not necessarily make you any less interesting.

[OK, despite himself he's starting to get flattered. He flushes a little and looks down]

Well, okay, whatever.

[Whoops, that really wasn't his intention, but oh well. Just roll with it, Henry.]

Sorry, didn't mean to embarrass you there. Anyway, I'm Henry.

I wathn't embarrathhed. [He lifts his head defiantly] My name'th Thollukth Captor.

[Little quirk of his lips] Well then, Mr. Captor, although it could have been under much more favorable circumstances, it is nice to meet you.

[Hmph. He hasn't forgiven you yet, Henry.]

I guethh...

Come now, don't look so down. I'm sure your lovely homicidal friend is merely nursing its wound somewhere. If it'll make you feel any better, I'll even help you look. [Then kill it for real when your back is turned.]

Yeah, maybe... [He looks longingly at the bookshelf] I don't know, I only ever thaw hith hand. I'm not sure where the retht of him ith...but I really thought we had a connection.

[Aw, that's adorable. Adorably delusional!]

Find a thing missing a cleanly chopped off hand. Shouldn't be too difficult to spot, don't you think? Perhaps if your connection truly was so strong, it'll draw you two lovebirds back together.

Yeah right. [Suddenly his mood is plummetting] He probably didn't even like me. I never would have good luck like that.

[Oh. Er, OK. He's not too good at this cheering up depressed teenagers bit. He hasn't gotten that far into parenthood yet!

But he remains calm. Good, all right... so. He just gives Sollux a raised eyebrow look, arms folded across his chest.]

Well, your attitude certainly isn't helping. Giving up already? [Because if he is... Henry will consider it free game.]

No. [He's still looking really depressed, though. Sorry, Henry. Bipolar disorder is a bitch] I'm not giving up! I jutht... don't know what to do, egthactly. But when I thee him again, I'll do thomething. He'll forgive me, I mean, it wathn't my fault.

[Henry stifles a laugh.] Yes, it certainly wasn't. I'll be sure to apologize when we find...him. [Then he turns towards the bookcase.] Shall we start with what's behind the bookcase?

[He gives Henry a suspicious look, then nods. Without much ceremony, he extends a hand towards the bookcase and lifts it with his powers, pulling it out of its brackets and shoving it aside. A couple of books fall over, but he keeps it relatively intact. There's nothing but bare wall behind]

I don't get it...

[The show of power startles him for a moment, but then composes himself just as quickly. He did mention psychic powers after all...but of course he only thought it was the eye lasers.

Anyway, he reaches towards the wall, feeling around it for anything unusual. Maybe there's a secret panel or something back here that it could escape into...]

Hm, the chance of it your friend being just "A hand" seems to be another likely theory. [Ehehehe.]
