Summary: Link's making things for friends!
Warnings: I fail to see any warnings being needed but Ghirahim might tag I'm not sure and he's a warning himself so I'll put down "possible Ghirahim sighting" as the warning.

[If you come into the workshop today, you may notice a familiar green garbed elf carving something out of wood! Upon closer inspection, it kind of looks like a girl. He chips away, completely focused on what he's doing. Why don't you come bother him! He'll make you something if you ask nicely.]

Well, if I'm correct, I am from an earlier era then you; and the other Link who resides here. The other Link knows of you thanks to a legend; he's dressed as you are because of said legend. It is possible it could be the same for us, but that is only a theory.

[His legend seems to be forgotten so he highly doubts this...]

[ ...! Wait, what. Time shenanigans? ]

I... honestly do not think that child understands in full the implications of that...

[ Small facepalm. ]

I was never told any tales about another hero. I... only know about what the Deku Tree told me. Which is that I am Hylian, myself... and that my father was a soldier. If that is correct, then that would put us in different periods from the same timeline...

[ Probably the only one who gets that. Which means... are they all related somehow???? ]

...I thought not.

[It was a little saddening to hear that no one had talked about his exploits and all the hardships he had to go through--

that was selfish to think about. He should be thankful for having the strength to carry on rather then being legendary.]

If that were true then that would mean we were related... right?

[ ...! Oh.

That... takes a bit to sink in, honestly. ]

[ ... "Related". ... They could sort of be family? That's... so foreign to Link at this point that the mere prospect of a glimmer of it is... kind of too much to hope for.

They don't want to get their hopes up, but... ]

... You know, I do think it would be better not to be known. I honestly do not think I've done anything worthy of a legend...

[ Um. Um. But... ]

Do... you really think that could be true, though?

[ ... Kind of wanting it to be. ;; ]

[He smiles.]

I am just grateful for being able to save everyone.

[And then he is thoughtful.]

I don't really think there could be a better explanation of why we look alike and share the same name. Princess Zelda said that the name Zelda was passed down to females of her family, I do not see why the name Link couldn't be passed down to the males of our family.

[ ... A-ah.

"The Males."

They's silence for a long time, as they look downwards. Someone is hiding something. ]

... I suppose so.

[ But why would they name them Link, then? They were just... a-anyway, that didn't matter. What did... was, well, maybe they had a family after all? A bizarre one is still a family. ]

Do you think it would be specific to the boys?

[ ... ]

... In any case, I... cannot say I expected this.

I think it would be specific to whoever would be the one in the family to be the "Hero", male or female.

[He smiles a little]

I didn't really expect this either.

[All he can think about now is. Zelda. And having a family with her. And how it leads to more children and more family.]

[ ... That. Does sort of make them feel a little better. There's a small smile. ]

I do find myself wondering why there seems to be so many of us. Has Hyrule need for a hero that often...? I am beginning to be concerned my efforts are in vain.

[ Still... ]

But I suppose I cannot complain if, in some strange way, I have family that lives.

[He smile gets sad at that.]

I believe that if anyone were to blame for the land needing so many heroes, it would be me. If I really am from the earliest timeline, then I have failed at ridding the world of it's troubles and therefore left all of you to clean up my own mess.

[ ... Finding themself to be a little surprised there. ]

Surely you have fought as hard as anyone else? ... That aside, if anyone could be blamed for letting Ganondorf rise to power, it would be me. I am the one who led him straight to the Triforce...

I didn't completely get rid of the main source of evil, though. I merely sealed it away into the Master Sword and surely the seal broke after my passing.

[ ... WAIT WHAT. Staring at the hilt of the Master Sword now... ]

... That cannot be right at all. If there were any evil within this blade, I--

[ The words die in their throat, because the more they pause to think about it, the more they find it to be true.

There isn't any evil anymore. ]

I... but how? What evil do you speak of?

His name was Demise. He was very powerful, very intimidating. He could have destroyed the whole world in less then an hour if I hadn't had stopped him.

[ .. Why haven't they heard of this? ]

... He sounds like the King of Evil. But... if you stopped him... how would there be evil left within the Master Sword?

[ How did you fail? ]

I stopped him by sealing him away into the Master Sword, I hadn't killed him like I should have. The seal was to never be broken, thus keeping the world safe from his rage. But I'm afraid that the seal had broken and he was most likely reincarnated into this Ganondorf of whom you spoke of. Which would mean that I have failed as the Goddess's Chosen Hero.

[ ... Link is silent for a long time before they shake their head, vehemently. ]

If that is the case... it is hardly your fault.

[ ... Part of Link wants to lash out in anger at this man. After all, if that's true, then... then everything was his fault and it was SO easy to blame someone for all that they'd lost--

But Link never took the easy route.

There's a slow breath. ]

... Truthfully, I am beginning to wonder if all evil in the world can be destroyed. Goddesses above, I certainly have experienced enough of it to last me several lifetimes, but... if that is the case, I am no better. I will have failed twice, apparently.

[ Learning that from the younger Link was devastating. How could they not have been there for Hyrule? ]

I believe it can be destroyed, but with the right hero. We merely stalled the destruction of the world, I'm sure someone will be able to put and end to it completely.

[It doesn't make knowing that you actually failed in the end hurt less but in the least, it is something to hope for.]

[ Silence, for the longest time. ]

... I never should have been a hero. I am sorry. I have put your name to shame.

[ Looking down at their knees, now. ]

[He is silent for a while before getting up to give them a comforting hug because honestly, they really look like they need one.]

[ ...!

Link is surprised, and sort of stiffens at the hug, because physical contact is just not something the hero is used to.

There is a quiet moment before this one's arms actually move to reciprocate the action, surprised. Nothing is said, but Link is wary in even doing this.

Afraid.

Of being judged, perhaps. ]

[He was a little worried that he had crossed the line so he was relieved when the other had decided to hug back.]

I do not believe you have put our name to shame. You had tried your hardest and that is all that matters.
