001 || Sentiment

Characters: Vanitas and victims anyone
Setting: Trawling through the tower at a rather fast pace, feel free to catch him anywhere
Format: Starting with action but I'm cool either way
Summary: You won't like him when he's angry.

[There's something to be said about his wake up call, and that's how utterly furious he appears in visage right now. His helmet is in pieces upstairs-- which utterly defeats the purpose of hiding his features, his expressions. The way his jaw tightens, the narrow set of his eyes, his hands clench; it's all out there, on display. Vulnerability.]

[He isn't happy. He's less happy the more he discovers of how foreign his location is, gaze sweeping every nook and cranny of every room, and it's occupants, before slamming the door and continuing onwards.]

[There's something to be said about waking in such a manner. Powerless to move, powerless to see; barely capable of breathing as things scuffled around him. It's not the creatures that particularly bother him, but the inset of apparent weakness that has him trawling through the desolate, decrepit tower in search of just. one. person.]

[He knows who to blame for this. He knows he's here.]

[And if he finds anything else interesting along the way? Well, that's just an added bonus, isn't it.]

[Which category, indeed? The recognition in her eyes is unmistakable, and although she's quick to try to hide it, her guardedness stays, and really, the damage has already likely been done. The fact that he's moving toward her does nothing to help her think straight; the chill that runs through her is thorough and nauseating, and the urge to step back, to just turn and flee and not look behind her is great, but she doesn't. She's too used to having nowhere to run, and-- well... he could catch her, easily, if he wanted. The only thing she can really do is try to make sure he doesn't want to. Part of her is still dumbstruck at the reality of this, that he's here and solid and not just a part of someone else's world but also a part of hers, and it's a terrifying development. The tower itself was bad enough.]

... I don't know. [You tell her. She watches him closely, intently, not for his answer but for any other move he might make.]

[Death may be transient in a place like the tower, but it's not at all something she'd like to experience again. Swallowing, she tries to gather her wits and her expression, forcing it more and more into the mold of something unreadable as she calms herself. Vanitas is a terrifying creature no matter how one looks at it, both in personality and ability. She tries to tell herself that, to someone with her abilities, he's not as much of a threat - but it's hard not to be scared, not when there are so many others not so lucky and not when such a thing is untested on a heart such as his. Would she even have the chance to do something, if he decided to put an end to her? Or would it be done so quick she'd have no opportunity at all?]

[Her relief that he's keeping his distance is sizable but does little to help her.] ... What makes you say that? [He's the one equating the two of them, not her. She's admitted nothing, even if her eyes have - perhaps he can still be made to second-guess this, at least enough to do some good.]

[Ironic, how much they actually are alike, in some ways, or at least far more so than he's like most of the others in the tower. But of course, she's the only one of the two of them aware of it, and she'd rather like to keep it that way, at least for the moment. She'd like to keep a lot of things the way they are, but his presence has thrown a wrench into that fairly effectively.]

[A hunch. And now he's claiming to want to set things straight, then come back-- alright. They can both be distracted by that, though she's the one who's introduced newcomers to the tower several times already. Perhaps that experience will help - she hardly even needs to think about it, anymore, though of course the situations those previous times was different. She takes a moment to regard him, then,]

... The tower.

[Helpful? No. Not so much.]

[Things just seem to be getting worse and worse, these days. That's saying something, in a place like this.]

It's just the tower. [She's not aware of a name... but she is becoming aware that he's probably trying to fluster her, if the speed of those questions is any indication. He won't, not now that she's had a moment to recover the parts of her mind that were reeling at just the sight of him before. She's practiced enough at anwering the easy questions like these, at least.] No one's sure how or why. [And fortunately for her, she's managing to keep a pretty straight face.] Not everyone believes the letters.
