Second Flight
Characters: Good ol' one eyed Pipit and the tower!
Setting: The cafeteria/kitchen area.
Format: Action preferably?;
Summary: Pipit uses what he can find to make actually edible food!! And also puts a lot of stuff in the walk in oven and books it out of there a lot.
AKA Pipit gets an accidental work out while just trying to make sure people get their proper nutrition.
Warnings: Probably lots of really cute threads?? None that I can think of since he's just... making breakfast...
Also fairies; there are probably going to be fairies in here. Make of that what you will.
[It started as a promise, really - he helped a small girl get oatmeal in her stomach on her first day, and when she could hardly keep it down due to the taste, he promised he'd make her something that tastes like...
Well, like food.
And Pipit's not one to break promises, no sir - it's not the Pipit Way! So he's gotten what he can from the cafeteria's kitchen - oatmeal, apples, berries - and has started making good food with what he's got. When you've got little money for food, you gotta learn to use what you can, after all.
Currently, he's making baked apples filled with berries and oatmeal - which is delicious, trust me - but he'd gladly use anything else to make what you'd like! It's a little difficult since he recently lost an eye, but a challenge is easy to overcome!
Feel free to bother him as he cooks, nab some of his food and run when he isn't looking, etc. Just try not to lock him in the walk in oven, please. :c]

[Equius is dragged into the kitchen today by the smell of something. There are a lot of unfamiliar ingredients and drinks in the Tower, he knows, because everyone comes from a different world -- he's already been thrust headfirst into the world of tea by his roommate, and he is so not complaining. So now that he's basically kind of occupied the kitchens for himself through excessive cleaning and leaving treats around everywhere, Equius wants to know who is making such greatness and how he can get his dexterity growths on some.]
[The person responsible for this was immediately noticeable; a human, wearing yellow, though not his. That one's yellow looked more like gold.
How appropriate. And then he turns slightly for Equius to catch sight of his-- oh.][Missing an eye.]
[He. Never got that one's name.]
...Er. Hello?
no subject
[Pipit offers the young troll a sunny smile (despite the obvious face... impurities at the moment), before plating one of the appley bowls of oatmeal and offering it to him, without another word. He's making it for everyone, after all!]
Did you come to get breakfast?
no subject
[All the spluttering. All of it.]
Because... it smelled very good.
no subject
[More like oatmeal mixed and baked in fruit so it didn't taste like grossness anymore, of course, but either way.
And you can sputter all you want, Equius; he is still going to be friendly as sunshine, no matter how nervous you are. c:]
no subject
...Ah, so that's called fruit? I never thought of baking it...
[Mostly because a lot of fruit-shaped things on Alternia explode when given heat.]
no subject
None of these fruit lived where I come from, but I can make do. These apples are a lot like little pumpkins, after all - even though they taste different!
[He places the plate on the counter for Equius, should he want it, so he can mess with the bandanna around his eye a little.]
You can eat them raw, too! Though you probably already knew that, huh?
no subject
[He looks back up at Pipit, who may notice that the Sagittarius symbol on his shirt is the same color as the text of that bloke on the Network.] What is your name?
no subject
[His head tilts a little at the color, yes - and he does decide to ask a bit.] I've seen that color before, on the network. Was that you I had been talking to?
no subject
...My name is Equius. I didn't give it before. Nice to meet you, Pipit. [Interesting name, Pipit. Doesn't sound human, maybe could be a troll name at a stretch... but obviously he's not a human. And he has those bizarre pointed ears.]
no subject
[
Don't dis the ears bro.Pipit reaches for more ingredients then - he's determined to have enough for everyone, after all - and starts to make another batch.]... You look like you have something else on your mind.
no subject
...Er, really? I'm sorry.
no subject
[Yeah, that just gets another smile from the Skyloftian.]
I was just going to ask if you wanted to ask me something, that's all!
no subject
Ah, well, not really. I just noticed that your-- um-- [what do humans call them] ears are pointed. Humans don't usually look like that, do they?
[...Was it that obvious?]
no subject
... Or would they be his Loftwing eyes?]
Ah, these? Where I come from, all humans have pointed ears like this!
[And he's... never met a human who doesn't have pointed ears, actually. At least, not face to face.]
no subject
[And then he looks down at the apple, slowly. Well, he has things kind of like this on Alternia, though they're much more interesting colors. And you bite into those. So is it... the same... with this...?]
[Glancing up briefly at Pipit, almost as if he was looking for a sign of (dis)approval, Equius took a small bite into the apple -- and nearly spit it out. He didn't expect the flavor to be that strong and sweet, wow. But fortunately, he was able to cover it as a cough, or like something went down the wrong way. But when he actually dedicated himself to chewing it... it was rather good. Overly sweet. But good.]
...Hm.
[Though his mouth and eyes are obscured, his eyebrows have risen, and it's clear from the tone that he likes it.]
no subject
It's good, right? They're a little more sour than I expected, when I tried one - but that's easy to cook right out!
[Heart Flowers and Stamina Fruit tend to be pretty sweet.]
no subject
[Pause. He looks at the plate on the table, then at Pipit, then the oven, then Pipit again.]
...Would you mind telling me how to make them?
no subject
[He grabs a few of the ingredients then, giving Equius a fresh apple and a paring knife.]
First, make a small bowl out of the apple, alright? Like this.
[He's already got one or two made, so he lifts one up to show him; some of the top was cut off like a lid, while the inside was cored into a bowl shape.]
no subject
no subject
Now, I already have some of the oatmeal mixture made... but do you want to learn how to make it, too?
['Cause if not... yeah. Premade goodness!
It's like he's running a cooking show.]no subject
no subject
Peering into the kitchen curiously now. Is that...?]
Sir Pipit?
no subject
[He gives her a warm smile and a small bow of his head, as he plates one or two of the apples.]
I made plenty, if you'd like some!
[It's a wonder how he's not a Link - his spirit's just about as unbreakable, if not more...]
no subject
... What are they? They smell delicious.
no subject
Well... fruit, mostly! I noticed the oatmeal they serve here is kind of bland, so I took the liberty of spicing it up a bit!
Fruit, berries, and oatmeal, all baked into a nice treat. Don't you think?
no subject
I would not know. I certainly have not had anything quite like it.
[What is cooking beyond Survivorman-esque levels. She does not know.]
no subject
Then try it! It's good, I promise!
no subject
Ah... well, to good food, then.
[She raises her plate a bit as if to toast, then takes a bite.
...... Oh Goddesses it's just as good as it smells. Mmm~]
no subject
If you want me to make anything else for you, princess, just ask!
I've had a lot of practice with limited resources, after all!
no subject
Perhaps you could teach me, in that case. I... am afraid I am not very adept at cooking.
[Because, yeah, seven years on the run does not exactly lend itself to learning recipes.]
no subject
[Feel free to continue nomming; he's taking it as a compliment. 'v']
no subject
Mm, I would appreciate that. It sounds as though it would be an enjoyable experience.
[Translation: Sounds like fun!]
no subject
Alright; it's set, then! Some day soon, I'll pull you guys aside, and we'll have a nice day together!
[... And as he's cooking, she might notice a little red glow peeking out from the top of his hat - whoever this is that Pipit's talking to sounds nice.
... But you can never be too careful. :S So rather than actually coming out of her hiding spot, the healing fairy's just... going to peek a bit to get a good look at Zelda...]
no subject
[So she nods, smiling, and continues nibbling on her meal until something catches her eye--]
Is that... a fairy?
[Wow, deja vu.]
no subject
[Pipit tries to look up at her - but kind of... fails at it. Because that's like trying to see your forehead.
So instead he looks at his reflection on one of the pans - and sure enough...]
Ah - yes, it is! My friend gave me a few bottles of his, and one of them had her in there...
I felt bad, since that looked pretty cramped, you know?
[So Zelda's Link and him had a little fairy pow-wow and now he and the healing fairy are mutual brosephs! That is to say, Pipit and Link are the only ones she's not scared of.]
no subject
[Needless to say, she's... actually quite impressed.]
no subject
I still have to guess with her!
She really is timid, though; I'm surprised she's even coming out to get a look at you!
[Seriously; Link even told him that she's scared of humans...]
no subject
[Since she's fairly sure it was one of the Heroes of Time. Fairy-whisperers, the lot of them. She peers up at what she can see of the fairy, leaning slightly forward on the balls of her feet because dammit, Pipit, you're tall.]
Well, I promise I mean her no harm, though I fully understand why she would not want to show herself to others.
no subject
I think she's decided you're nice, in her eyes!
no subject
Oh? I am glad. The Link from my era is very dear friends with a fairy, so I could not dream of harming one.
[Link would have her head.]
no subject
Then I'm sure that was the Link who helped me! I need to thank him again, when I can; it was very kind of him.
no subject
I am almost certain he will tell you that your thanks are not necessary. That is simply the type of person he is. Though... I think he would appreciate it, all the same.
no subject
Oh -
[Yeah, the fairy's decided she's had enough of this, and decided to take flight - landing to hide behind one of his ears.
She looks and smells nice and so does all the food, but there is too high of a chance of others coming in. B(]
no subject
[She blinks a bit in surprise as the fairy moves, and then her expression becomes slightly concerned.]
... I did not frighten her, did I?
no subject
[Though he is a little concerned, himself.]
... She might have heard something, possibly!
no subject
[Going quiet, then, listening. Hylian ears are known for their sensitivity, after all, but...]
I wonder what. I do not hear anything unusual.
no subject
He gave the man a small smile, a bit scared by the fact he only had one eye, but such injuries were normal in the tower.] Sorry... [He said in way of apology as he passed him, he wrapped Gyousou's cloak tightly round him.]
no subject
That smells all kinds of delicious. There's nothing about that that doesn't appeal to Link's senses.
He follows the scent to the kitchen -- of course, he should've thought of that -- and pokes his head in. He blinks when he sees Pipit, and goes ahead and steps into the room.]
Pipit?
