Summary: Um.... I have no idea where this is going to go.

[Ahri has adapted pretty well to the tower, all things considered. There are floors she's determined to avoid and the computers still confuse the hell out of her, but she's pretty resilient.

This floor is her favorite for obvious reasons. As much as she longs to be human, nature is still very calming to her. She knows exactly how things go here and there aren't many things that confuse or surprise her. At the moment she's sitting under a tree, tails curled up lazily in her tails.]

[... not sure if genuine laughter... but he's sure he'd rather not add that to his list of things to brood over later, so it passes. because she's not worth it yet, though he will be remunerating over whether she is or not later.]

Remindin' the lowblooded scum 'a what happens when they forget their place.

What does that mean?

It means exactly how it sounds.

[his lip curls, revealing jagged teeth. but then he has to remind himself that this isn't someone from his world, someone he would have surely killed by now if only to make things easier on himself. if only these circumstances permitted.]

The caste system must be upheld, with the lesser bein' treated as such.

[And she's reminding herself that she doesn't know anything about his world or his culture, so maybe she should be a little more open-minded. That doesn't mean she can't steer him away from this subject, at least.]

I see. Are you sure you don't want to teach me to swim?

[She'd probably have a hard time staying up anyway, with all those tails.]

[he can do a topic change, sure. but that doesn't stop the anger from lingering in his voice.]

Why?

[She does her best to ignore it.]

Because I'd like to learn. I'm not very good at it.

[he will scoff and judge so hard. has he ever taught anyone in his life, probably not. she will be in for a rough time, if she can stand it.

something about 'friendship', right? and friend meaning enemy, and enemy meaning friend and all that. perhaps it wouldn't be as culturally unacceptable as he's liked to think. (but it is.) there's a pause.]

I... suppose.

[He is rewarded with a giant grin!]

Perfect! Are you busy now?

I'm not plannin' on teachin' you right this moment, if that is what you're tryin' to suggest.

Oh? And why not?

[because he feels like he's wasted enough of his precious time today; nevermind the fact that he has nothing better to do. teaching humans how to swim. what next, dualscar. he sits up.]

[notice the lack of reasoning supplied.]

[She's not human though...]

Leaving so soon?

[so she isn't! teaching abominable crosses between barkbeasts and a human, then. or whatever his word choice was there. he stands, using the gun momentarily as a crutch, before slinging it back into place.

he brushes himself off unnecessarily.]

Correct.

[She stands as well, tilting her head and smirking.]

Aren't you going to say goodbye?

[he sneers, standing a little straighter.]

Was that not sufficient?

[She mimics him, tails flicking behind her.]

Not nearly polite enough! I'm sure you would have just walked away without saying anything if I'd let you.

[yep that was. basically the plan there.

he turns from her, still not entirely sure of what to make of her.]

Then 'goodbye' will have to suffice.

[She gives his arm a little pat, grinning.]

You're like a ray of sunshine, aren't you?

Rays of sunshine will kill you.

[matter-of-factly. or rather, they could if they were in his world.

the point stands.]

[Hey, he didn't jerk away, so she keeps her hand on his arm experimentally.]

Can they? I had no idea.

Yes.

[he notices, but doesn't react. wasn't that true of earth's sun as well, if to a much lesser extent? he can't help but feel as if he's read about it, one that would parallel the seemingly fake one they stand under now.]

If not natural, it's why most trolls are forced to adopt to nocturnality.

Yes.

[a little awkwardly. something they can... agree on. even if he didn't really feel it a necessity to adopt to anyone's schedule, the sentiment remains. it's now he recalls his original course of action, as momentary as the distraction is.

he steps away from her.]

[She smiles again, ears pricking forward.]
