on the hunt
Characters: Ken Amada and open.
Setting: The Meadow and The Forest. Or catch him on the stairs! Just tell me where. Night.
Format: Action
Summary: It's training time. Ken's spear still isn't fixed, but he's got his Evoker. Time to hunt Shadows.
Warnings: Possibly dark subjects. Also shooting yourself in the head. :|b
[He's been still for too long. Going out at night, hunting Shadows… he's missed it. So quietly, as to not wake anyone, he heads out of his room and down the stairs, looking for something to fight.]
[And he finds it. Blobs of Shadow, there in a corner and over there, too - and the quick movement of a Shadow with too much speed. Lifting his Evoker to his forehead, he fires, summoning Nemesis, dispatching a few with Hama and frying a few more with Zionga.]

[He just raises his eyebrows at Kanji's next statement.]
Fear isn't the only way of proving that you can take care of yourself. Try living off the streets for almost two years and then come back and tell me how well you managed.
It must be all the bending. And maybe the sewing I mean what.
[He scowls a bit. Kids living off the street isn't something he likes hearing about. He sighs somewhat loudly.]
I may have not lived off the streets, but when my dad died, he told me "If you're a man, you have to become strong". Pissed me the hell off as a kid at the time. Thought he just told me off. Changed my looks, even beat up entire biker gangs just cause they made so much noise it kept Ma up at night. At least...until senpai came along.
I can't say how I would'v faired off in the streets, and hell, no one should be there if you ask me. But one thing I learned thanks to Yu and the others is that you gotta make an effort if you want others to understand you. So uh, here. I'll try, if it helps any.
Possibly. Also Kanji is the most moe alkdjfs.
... I only came back to where I used to live because I found the guy who killed my mother. So I can understand that, I guess...
[He'd probably have done the same. Even if he's horribly jealous Kanji still has his mother...]
Strega understands me. They let me help, and they let me fight. They didn't treat me like a kid, and they believed me, when no one else did. That's all I want now. I just want to be treated because of who I am, not because of my age.

[He looks up while he continues talking.]
At least that's what I tell myself. Truth is...I don't think killing anyone's gonna change that. It'll just leave me empty and without my Ma regardless. She'd be pretty pissed off at me if I did that, you know?
But uh, this Strega of yours...kinda was the same for me and the whole Investigation Team. They didn't treat me as just some random-ass punk that the police didn't like, and accepted me for who I am...in time it allowed me to accept myself for who I was too.
..Mind you, they were terrified of me at first but then uh...stuff happened.
[He's not gonna mention the whole Shadow fighting thing. At least not yet.]
Ken's just. He's so emotionally confused right now. :c
I know... I know that killing him isn't seen as the 'right' thing to do, but it's the 'just' thing to do. You just don't let murderers walk around like that.
... But he's dead now anyway, and I didn't get to kill him.
[He looks down, and takes a deep breath.]
Strega's my family now. We're all on our own, so we all band together to take care of each other. It's not the same as a 'normal' family, but it's what we have and it's what we protect. We accept each other for who we are, and we fight together.
[He looks up again.]

And kind of. I don't know all of what happened to most of the others - Koromaru and I aren't from the same place as Minato, Jin, and Chidori - but that's close enough.
[... And that last bit just gets you weird staring.]
TV World? What, like the set of some TV show? No. Shadows show up all over the area. They attack normal people, too.

Well actually we went through the TV and fought Shadows there. The world was merging with our own and it would have killed everyone, but we stopped that in time. At least, that's the gist of it. Senpai understands it more than me.
[You get one thoughtful stare from Kanji.]
Chidori...I ran into her. Damn scary lady too. Mind you, I can't think of many girls that like wearing so much lace and ribbons without a special occasion. Not a bad look, I think the whole mixture of Sweet and Gothic-lolita in a white tone fits her style pretty well.
[Kanji, why are you talking about what she is wearing..]

[Well he had told himself that he should be be more truthful to himself. It was his resolve. Something he'd told Yu he'd do. Who cares if he ends up thinking he's weird? Be true to yourself.]
That's because...I-i like sewing, knitting and cute things, dammit. And if you think that's strange, you'll just have to deal with it, cause that ain't gonna change.
[Still can't help but have the attitude that comes with it, however. He reaches into his pocket coat to pull out something, hoping that even being here it was there--yes! His hand opens up slowly, revealing a bunny charm.]

Okay then. First step, I'm gonna show you the miracle of thimbles for newcomers and why they're important if you want to patch up any piece of clothing you own. Of course, once you get good at it, you won't need them. Pretty sure my sewing kit I came with had a few spare ones too.
