Movie Night

Characters: Signless and The Grand Highblood Subjugglator
Setting: The media room on Floor 14
Format: Action
Summary: This is a bit backdated, to this day. Signless has designated today to be "No Culling" day and he and GHB are going to watch movies in an ill-advised attempt to keep GHB entertained.
Warnings: Possible (probable?) violence.

[Signless is already waiting, sorting through movies to find something that will hopefully appeal to the violent troll. Something blackrom, probably, but maybe with a redroom subplot, so that he can start to introduce the concept of pity to the indigoblood.

This is going to end so badly.

He looks up as the GHB enters and smiles, trying to hide his nervousness]

Hey, you showed up.

[ the highblood manages to fit through the doorway with some effort. OK, he can go through with this without culling the mutant, he thinks, even of he feels he's got every reason to do so... but seeing as he can't really put a hand on him without the Condesce's approval (he's not 100% sure as to what would happen of he crossed her now), he guesses that the least he can do is satisfy his curiosity about the Signless. Watching a movie while doing so doesn't seem like a terrible idea, either. ]

What can I all say? I'm motherfucking good at keeping appointments.

[Signless isn't sure if the Condesce wants him dead or not right now, and even if she didn't, he wouldn't necessarily assume that would affect the Subjugglator's actions. So he's basically just assuming that he is dealing with the Highblood directly, with no controls on his actions other than those imposed by himself.

Hopefully he'll be able to run quickly when the Highblood gets bored.

He smiles and pats the sofa beside him, then gets up to put the disk into the player.]

Yeah, obviously. So this is a blackrom movie, which I thought might appeal to you. And I made popcorn. It's a human thing, but it's pretty tasty if you put a lot of salt and butter on it.

[He regards the seat next to the Signless with a wrinkle of his nose, but plops his ass down hard enough to make the smaller troll hop out of his seat. The offer for popcorn is ignored as he stares at the TV, then back down at the Signless.]

This shit have a motherfucking title?

[It's a good thing that the highblood isn't totally incapable of keeping a civil conversation sometimes, even if it did tend to go towards a little...creepy, or confusing, or somewhat offensive even........]

[Signless finishes setting up the movie and sits back down next to the Highblood. So far he has been very civil every time they've actually been in the same room, which is not what he would have expected at all. He curls up on the sofa, leaving a few inches of space between them, and grabs the box, then reads out the title.

By the time he gets through it, which explains about the blackrom pair between two sea dwellers, and a related red sub plot with a rustblood galley slave, who gets freed as a result of the relationship, the opening credits have finished]

Sorry, I don't have any Subjugglator romance, but I can try to find some. [Does something like that even exist?]

[ The title of the movie itself is enough to make the highblood sneer, but he doesn't say anything, keeping his focus mostly on the screen. Seadwellers usually rub him the wrong way with their higher than thou outlook (and it being true didn't make him feel any better), but it's just a movie. He can totally do this.

He leans back comfortably, taking up most of the room on the couch, legs splayed out.]

Nah, don't be all going out of your motherfucking way for me, brother. [offers a strange grin.] I don't all need to be getting my watch on for that noise!

[ Rude! Of course it...exists. Just not as obviously red as most are used to. It's tough for two subjugglators to be red for each other and not toe dangerously into a blackrom. Besides, it's best not to mix business with romance!]

[Wow, does he have to...splay like that? Signless inches over a little, then frowns and inches back. Whatever. What does he care? He munches a handful of popcorn and leans back, only to rub shoulders with the Highblood.

Awkward.

Did he have to call him little?

Does he have to be so fucking BIG?

He's so keyed up, it's hard to focus on the movie. Thankfully he's already seen it a dozen times]

[The highblood gives no fucks as he settles in quite nicely. He can sense the Signless's nervousness through their slight contact, but that only encourages him more to be as space-invadingly annoying as possible. Hell, he can do this all day while watching this movie, which is surprisingly in-depth and interesting enough to keep his attention. if anything, the actors are gods at portraying sea dwellers, even if they were not.

If the Signless thinks this is awkward..... imagine the look on his face when he sees the red subplot unfolding.]

HUH. [Is all he says as he furrows his brow]

[Signless slowly relaxes as the movie goes on. He offers the Highblood the bowl of popcorn.]

Try some.

[He grins up at the bigger troll, still holding out the bowl]

I know it's unusual. A slave catching the eye of a highblood like that, for anything other than pure lust.

[He manages to pick out a few without overturning the entire bowl with his big fingers, inspects them, then pops them into his mouth. They are...pretty good, he thinks almost begrudgingly.

Unfortunately, the snack isn't enough to overpower the bad taste the scenes leave in his mouth.]

It's downright motherfucking disgusting.

[Hmm, maybe he misfired here. Signless is pretty sure that he's not talking about the popcorn.

He draws a breath. Okay, here goes. He pauses the movie and looks up at the Highblood.]

What's wrong?

You really all have to ask? Motherfucking seadwelling bitches must be fucked in the sponge to be even all considering that sort of bullshit. Mixing with the bluebloods, I can all see, but rustbloods-- [He grimaces, though he's extremely glad that his relationship with a certain rustblood is most definitely not red]

Just can't see the motherfucking appeal, mixing the genes of a superior blood with those of such utterly motherfucking inferior ones. Keep it rollin', brother. [He nods impatiently to the screen.]

Sometimes love doesn't listen to blood. He didn't expect to feel that kind of thing for someone of her blood, either, but he got to know her and pitied her.

Not that hard to pity a lowblood, wouldn't you think? Considering everything we go through, just because of our blood colour.

[He smiles up at the Highblood, and unpauses the movie]

[The Signless's words rattle around in his head for a while, and it brings back some memories of the Signless's death a long time ago, back when he referred to him as The Sufferer, and just couldn't understand his message when he had first heard it. He still can't, and it feels like those days all over again.]

Hn. It'll take more than some motherfucking suffering to get ME to pity any motherfucker...

[Other people smiling at him still feels weird. Weird in a bad way, he thinks, and watches the movie in distracted silence for a bit. He keeps stealing glances over at the Signless from the corner of his eye, as if expecting him to suddenly start yammering on about his ideals again.

It's sort of ....disturbing?]

[Signless absorbs those words with a quiet sigh and turns back to watch the movie, turning them over like a tarnished piece of jewellery in his mind. Is the Highblood really that incapable of pitying someone?

He's not about to start yammering on at all. Signless will say things if it comes up, but he's always spoken to the receptive. If he can gently work someone around to being receptive, he'll try, but he won't shove his ideals down anyone's throat. He just doesn't think that much of himself.

He's aware of the way the Highblood keeps looking at him, though, and the next time he does he turns to meet his gaze, smiling again]

What?

[When their gaze finally meet, he doesn't look away. Yeah, still smiling. It's one thing when aliens who know so much about you smile at you (like that Molly girl) because they just don't know any better, but when someone that knows who you are and what you're capable of does...it's just...

He's unsure. He wants him to stop, yet at the same time it's sort of a satisfying feeling. Clearly an indulgence that won't allow himself to feel, especially for this mutantblood.

Then without a word, he turns back to the TV, where a particularly steamy scene is taking place between the slave and one of the seadwellers. He raises an eyebrow, but continues being silent. Very awkward silence ensues.]

[Fine, whatever. Signless snorts softly with quiet laughter, and turns back to the TV. If he doesn't want to tell Signless what's on his mind, that's fine. He already has a moirail, after all.

He shifts and gets comfortable, munching on popcorn as he watches the steamy scene unfold with rapt attention]

[The highblood watches with a sort of...disgusted fascination, though he doesn't let it show. He's so absorbed in it, he even absentmindedly reaches for the popcorn, and he sort of makes a mess of it too. Not that he cares.

When the scene ends, he looks over at the Signless, a little confused.]

Was that all motherfucking it?

[Signless blinks in surprise at the question and pauses the movie again so they can talk without missing the next bit. After the scene comes a part where the sea dweller angsts about his relationship with the slave, and what it means, so he doesn't want the Highblood to miss it]

Motherfucking what?

[He shrugs, gesturing with a finger towards the screen.]

Looked a little vanilla, if you all motherfucking know what I mean.

[Eyeroll] It's pity, not hate, remember? They don't want to hurt each other. They want to...to protect, and cherish each other, and make each other feel good.

[defensively!] Hey, bitches can still be all getting motherfucking creative with that shit. Who says a little pain can't feel good?

[elbow nudges the Signless, but even if he's doing it pretty lightly, it might...hurt a little?]

[Signless grunts a bit at the elbow to his ribs.]

Yeah, a bit of pain could feel good. But that's not the point of this scene. It was about not wanting to hurt his slave girl, since she had been hurt so much in her slavery. This was different.

[Well, he gets it. He knows what all goes into making matespritship work, but he just can't seem to muster up much pity himself. He just doesn't feel it here in the scene, and he has his doubts that he'll ever feel it.

Not that he particularly cares...]

Hn. Keep playing.

[Nodding, Signless reaches out to turn on the movie, but pauses and looks up at the Highblood again]

You really don't pity anyone, do you?

[He chuckles a little, meeting the Signless's gaze.]

Nah, it seems that I have all but motherfucking outgrown that shit or something. See, it isn't impossible or nothing, but there were plenty of motherfuckers that couldn't all handle the pity the Grand Highblood all had for them. Shit just doesn't always work out, you know?
