Movie Night

Setting: The media room on Floor 14
Format: Action
Summary: This is a bit backdated, to this day. Signless has designated today to be "No Culling" day and he and GHB are going to watch movies in an ill-advised attempt to keep GHB entertained.
Warnings: Possible (probable?) violence.

[Signless is already waiting, sorting through movies to find something that will hopefully appeal to the violent troll. Something blackrom, probably, but maybe with a redroom subplot, so that he can start to introduce the concept of pity to the indigoblood.

This is going to end so badly.

He looks up as the GHB enters and smiles, trying to hide his nervousness]

Hey, you showed up.

[Signless absorbs those words with a quiet sigh and turns back to watch the movie, turning them over like a tarnished piece of jewellery in his mind. Is the Highblood really that incapable of pitying someone?

He's not about to start yammering on at all. Signless will say things if it comes up, but he's always spoken to the receptive. If he can gently work someone around to being receptive, he'll try, but he won't shove his ideals down anyone's throat. He just doesn't think that much of himself.

He's aware of the way the Highblood keeps looking at him, though, and the next time he does he turns to meet his gaze, smiling again]

What?

[grandhighblood]

[When their gaze finally meet, he doesn't look away. Yeah, still smiling. It's one thing when aliens who know so much about you smile at you (like that Molly girl) because they just don't know any better, but when someone that knows who you are and what you're capable of does...it's just...

He's unsure. He wants him to stop, yet at the same time it's sort of a satisfying feeling. Clearly an indulgence that won't allow himself to feel, especially for this mutantblood.

Then without a word, he turns back to the TV, where a particularly steamy scene is taking place between the slave and one of the seadwellers. He raises an eyebrow, but continues being silent. Very awkward silence ensues.]

[Fine, whatever. Signless snorts softly with quiet laughter, and turns back to the TV. If he doesn't want to tell Signless what's on his mind, that's fine. He already has a moirail, after all.

He shifts and gets comfortable, munching on popcorn as he watches the steamy scene unfold with rapt attention]

[grandhighblood]

[The highblood watches with a sort of...disgusted fascination, though he doesn't let it show. He's so absorbed in it, he even absentmindedly reaches for the popcorn, and he sort of makes a mess of it too. Not that he cares.

When the scene ends, he looks over at the Signless, a little confused.]

Was that all motherfucking it?

[Signless blinks in surprise at the question and pauses the movie again so they can talk without missing the next bit. After the scene comes a part where the sea dweller angsts about his relationship with the slave, and what it means, so he doesn't want the Highblood to miss it]

Motherfucking what?

[grandhighblood]

[He shrugs, gesturing with a finger towards the screen.]

Looked a little vanilla, if you all motherfucking know what I mean.

[benigncancer]

[Eyeroll] It's pity, not hate, remember? They don't want to hurt each other. They want to...to protect, and cherish each other, and make each other feel good.

[grandhighblood]

[defensively!] Hey, bitches can still be all getting motherfucking creative with that shit. Who says a little pain can't feel good?

[elbow nudges the Signless, but even if he's doing it pretty lightly, it might...hurt a little?]

[benigncancer]

[Signless grunts a bit at the elbow to his ribs.]

Yeah, a bit of pain could feel good. But that's not the point of this scene. It was about not wanting to hurt his slave girl, since she had been hurt so much in her slavery. This was different.

[grandhighblood]

[Well, he gets it. He knows what all goes into making matespritship work, but he just can't seem to muster up much pity himself. He just doesn't feel it here in the scene, and he has his doubts that he'll ever feel it.

Not that he particularly cares...]

Hn. Keep playing.

[benigncancer]

[Nodding, Signless reaches out to turn on the movie, but pauses and looks up at the Highblood again]

You really don't pity anyone, do you?

[grandhighblood]

[He chuckles a little, meeting the Signless's gaze.]

Nah, it seems that I have all but motherfucking outgrown that shit or something. See, it isn't impossible or nothing, but there were plenty of motherfuckers that couldn't all handle the pity the Grand Highblood all had for them. Shit just doesn't always work out, you know?

[benigncancer]

[Eyebrows go up] That sounds pretty fucking sad.

[grandhighblood]

[Gives him an odd smile full of teeth, then redirects his attention back to the screen.]

Heh heh, it sure is...but don't you all go around actually feeling motherfucking sad. You don't know the fucking story.

[benigncancer]

You can tell me about it sometime. I don't mind.

[And he turns the movie back on, settling back to watch]

[grandhighblood]

[A nearly inaudible snort, and he stretches his arms across the back of the couch lazily. Bluh small human-sized couches.]

Sure.

[benigncancer]

[Fuck, his arm is behind him, almost touching the back of his neck. He grits his teeth, then deliberately relaxes and settles back, letting his head touch the Highblood's arm]

[grandhighblood]

[His arm twitches a little, but there's no sudden movements. Nope. At least...not yet. He's watching the next scene where the sea dweller is blubbering and weh-weh-ing about his feelings.

He taps a claw impatiently into the fabric of the couch, although he doesn't speak up just yet.]

[benigncancer]

[Signless sighs a little at the scene. It's a bit over-acted, but he appreciates the emotional conflict involved.

After this comes a more exciting scene where the slave is kidnapped by the sea dweller's kismesis. That ought to up the ante a little]

[grandhighblood]

[He...raises an eyebrow, wondering if...maybe...the kidnapper might kill the slave girl. That would be interesting, and fun. If anything, that's exactly what he's anticipating. He's totally calling it.

Not even realizing it, he pokes a claw in deep through the couch fabric right next to the Signless's ear.]

[benigncancer]

[Signless sees it out of the corner of his eye and hears the rip of the fabric. He shifts a little, sees what he's done, then scoots over a bit away from that claw. The problem is, that brings him up against the Highblood himself.

So far, the kidnapper hasn't killed the slave girl, but it is getting pretty black.]

[grandhighblood]

[Barely notices the Signless scooting in closer, getting pretty absorbed into the movie here! he doesn't really have many feelings about the red romance here, but finds the two sea dwellers an interesting pair, despite his dislike for their characters.

Sitting still and watching movies isn't something he does very often, but it's...not bad? If anything, the movie is probably the only thing that's keeping him from paying much attention to the Signless, whereas a simple conversation between them could easily spark violence...

...so let's hope this movie ends on a satisfying note. maybe if they're lucky, he'll learn a thing or two about a healthy caliginous relationship, that is, if the whole red romance concept just flies over his head at the end of all this... ]

[Indeed, the movie is reaching its climax. The sea dweller rescues his red love from his kismesis and the kismesis is killed in the process, thereby - from a story perspective - punishing her for stepping outside of quadrant etiquette and interfering with her kismeses' red relationship.

The sea dweller absconds with the slave, finding a new life on the fringes as a pirate and, it seems, happy with the result. It was quite a controversial film, and Signless heard the writer was nearly culled when it aired. But that's why he likes it.

As the credits roll, he grins up at the Highblood nervously]

So what did you think?

[grandhighblood]

[He makes a soft grunting sound, looking down at Signless from the corner of his eye. The arm that had been resting on the couch shifts a little so that a couple of claws rest on the top of the Signless's head, though it's probably not entirely intentional...

Sighing deeply, he replies:]

I must get my motherfucking honesty on about this shit. If the motherfucker who all made this movie was in this room, right the fuck now, he would be motherfucking dead. I'd cull his ass so fucking hard. [Then with a small frown and rubbing his chin] ...and you got some shitty tastes in cinema. What the fuck kind of ending was that?

[Signless ducks his head a little under the weight of those claws. Well, shit.]

I didn't think you'd like the ending. I figured it was worth it for the issues raised in the film, though... Such as that happiness might be more important than blood caste.
