Setting: Room 3-08 and the caf.

Summary: "Oh no, where am I, woe is me"

Room 3-08
Leon liked waking up in his own room, wherever it happened to be at the time. It was a good feeling to know that nothing had happened during the night, or at least nothing that immediately affected his body. Unfortunately, he had never considered this feeling until today, which was the second day in his life when he didn't wake up in his own room. Immediately he rolled over and looked around. It was obvious that he wasn't in his clothes anymore; it was some kind of bodysuit, judging from the odd feeling on his skin. Something was choking around his neck, not hanging like the Griever was; a collar of some kind. There were three beds in the room besides his, and some of them were filled with strangers. Maybe they were sleeping; he really only skimmed over them, because of the more immediate presence of a letter sitting on the bedside table, with his name -- his real one -- printed on the front.

Leon reached over and opened it, reading the first letter inside; with any luck, they would provide an explanation as to why he's woken up in this circumstance; it's already put him in a bad mood. Apparently, it wasn't bad enough, because upon reading the words 'world' and 'destroyed'...

"What?!"

Cafeteria
After that little incident ended, Leon pulled on his clothes and decided to start exploring. It soon became apparent that this place was a tower, if the elevator he found was to be believed; it only stopped at a few floors, but the first one was also the first (presumably the ground floor), which was as good a place to start as anywhere else.

So now the Tower at large will be presented with one irritable, awfully strong man, sitting at one of the tables and ripping at a roll while he continues to look over the letters. (The fact that he even has them should tip off anyone else that he's a newcomer who neglected to eat his oatmeal.) He was onto the second one now; it mentioned that the first floor was the cafeteria, which was a little useless now that he'd already figured it out, but the other things -- rooming? Network? Jobs? -- were definitely new. This letter spoke as if life in this tower was going to last for a while... yeah, not if he had anything to say about it.

Leon sighed and took the oatmeal from Romeo, eating it with a completely straight face. It wasn't his favorite dish ever, but he was used to the taste; a lot of times, giant drums of oatmeal were all that the Committee could afford.

"Tell me about these... 'bad people'."

Romeo was glad he was finally listening to him and eating the oatmeal. He rested his chin on his arms and began. "There are four or maybe five of them sir, three of them are men and one's a girl I think and there's a boy who is maybe my age but I haven't seen any of them for a very very long time. We don't know where they are, but they are bad. They do really bad things all the time and like to hurt us and make us cry.

The worlds haven't really ended sir, they are just lying because they are bad."

Despite his reservations about believing this little kid, Leon listened intently; and seemed to relax, if only a little, when Romeo reassured him that their world wasn't really gone. If he could, he would need to check this information with other people later. Three men, one girl, one boy. Hmm... "Where do you normally see them? And what kind of... bad things?"

"They were here once. Well not the girl I never seen her before, only heard her. But they live somewhere where we can't find them, not in the parts of the tower we can go to."

Romeo wondered if he should just write a list of all the bad things the bad people had ever done and put it on the network, it might help people because then they would know how bad they were and that they had to be careful.

"Well they brought us here sir, and people disappear a lot, we don't know what happens to them. They make us play scary games and kill us a lot just to make us scared. They also have done experiments and they are probably the ones that brought the monsters as well because they control everything."

Leon steepled his fingers and leaned his head on the table, staring hard at Romeo; but it wasn't really at Romeo. More like, he was staring hard at nothing because he was thinking, and Romeo just happened to be in the way. Finally, he snapped out of it and spoke again, still looking quite grim. "Hasn't anyone tried to stop this?" There certainly seemed to be enough people to organize something.

Romeo stared back, watching the man. He nodded when he spoke. "Of course they have, lots of people have tried, people have tried to escape sir and they have tried to fight the bad people but we don't even see them and they can do bad things to us. They can make us do bad things too. We wont stop trying though! We will beat them eventually and all go home!"

A miserable state of affairs if he ever saw one. Still, so was Radiant Garden after all of their memories had been wiped after the Darkness took over, and he managed to resolve that, right? So there had to be some way out of this mess too... but obviously it wasn't going to be easy to find unless they could defang the people running this place. Great. There was nothing more to be done here, obviously, if he wanted to make steps towards taking them down. But at the same time, perhaps it would be better to stay a while and start to understand how the place worked. "How long have you been here?"

"For ages and ages sir." Romeo wasn't the best at keeping track of time, he couldn't actually count past twenty. "It was summer when I came and then winter happened and I think it might be spring now. When I woke up here everyone was just waking up for the first time, no one was already here except the bad people and the ones that work for them."

"Ages, huh?" Leon sighed. He couldn't have expected too much; this was just a little kid, after all, he probably wouldn't get as good an estimate as he wanted, even if he asked. The other comment interested him, though -- the one about being here since the beginning. "Was anything different about this place then?"

Romeo nodded, it had been a long time ago but he could still remember some things. "There was only five floors sir, the cafeteria, the infirmary, the library and the place with couches and one floor of bedrooms. There wasn't that many people either and no monsters, not right away."

Leon frowned, thinking about this for a moment. He had seen three dormitory floors at the top of the tower, and they counted three as well... "So there's four dorm floors?"

"No sir just three. The one we were all in at first is the top one and then the others came later." He smiled again, "The floors didn't all come at once, the ones that are all out side the tower only just appeared last week."

"So they just... stick themselves between each other?" Now Leon looked really confused. This tower was apparently so out of touch with common physics that even an orphanage-educated guy could see that something was seriously wrong.

Romeo nodded, "I don't know why, I don't think buildings in Milano were like that but this place has lots of magic technology so it's probably to do with that."

After all if you could talk to each other through computers then floors appearing overnight in between each other was not impossible, thought Romeo.

Hmph. This tower just gets better and better, apparently.

"That's great. So we don't even have basic physics to rely on anymore." He rolled his eyes... though it's not as if he was really taught basic physics anyway. Schooling was hard to come by back in the day -- or at least, it was for people in his situation -- and good schooling was a fleeting dream. Not one that Leon really cared about, though.

"No sir, I don't think so." Romeo has no idea what physics are, it wasn't something doctor Casella covered in the two weeks Romeo lived with him, which is the closest to schooling Romeo ever got.

"It's best not to rely on anything that is from the tower, because the bad people can change things and make things bad."
