[He hasn't been to this floor for a long time, but right now... he doesn't mind the break. [He had been working on this for a very, very long time- almost since he first arrived nearly two months ago. It wasn't perfect like Daidara-san's work - no, not by a long shot, but he was finally putting the finishing touches on his own blade. Though, he had decided to take a break from finishing the hilt earlier... if the item beside him was any indication.]
Your Choice[It's April 27th... and someone's birthday. He definitely made them something, but the question is... where to find them?]
[> You begin your search for a certain detective, but will it only be Naoto-kun that you bump into?]

Floor Twenty-Eight
[The music floor...]
[He really has no problems with it, the instruments sometimes playing on their own. But this time, he finds an instrument that he knows well enough- something he hasn't played in a few months, now. If someone stumbles upon him, they'll hear a single trumpet playing something both hopeful yet melancholic, just a little louder than anything else around.]

Floor Thirty-Eight
[At the end of the day, he can be found on the thirty-eighth floor, staring out the windows to the outside with his newly-forged sword at his side. The height doesn't scare him, and the view isn't too bad... but it partly reminds him of being up on the hilltop overlooking the small town he made so many memories in.]
[Yu is silent, simply sitting there in one of the over-sized chairs with a small notebook in hand. He's almost done with the account of their journey, one no one would ever believe aside from their own...]

[Though there's many things he'd much rather be doing.]
no subject
[Standing, he raises an eyebrow. Sorry Xehanort, but his Arcana is the World, and he's somewhat insightful what with his Understanding so high. Okay, and your expression says just as much.]
There's a time and place for everything. This 'peace' won't last forever. [In fact, if it weren't for his cool facade and past experiences, his worry would probably be apparent. Things always seemed to be the most calm the moment before shit hits the fan...]
no subject
He really could care less if the tower is peaceful or mercilessly deadly. He has his plans. If he falls, he was unprepared for an eventuality... but even in death, there can be victory.]
There's far too much to learn to simply sit still. Regardless of what happens around us. What is struggle if not to make us appreciate what peace comes?
no subject
True enough, It's always calmest just before the storm. [His voice has a bit of bite to it as he speaks, like he knows much more about that truth than he's letting on. He is the leader of his team for a reason, after all.] And it's during those struggles when the soul either grows or hinders itself.
no subject
Then when the storm does arrive, people should be prepared for its onslaught if there's such a period of advance warning. [The edge to Yu's voice is interesting, though. So many people with hidden, unpleasant pasts... things that give them little hooks that darkness can snag onto. Sometime, perhpas, he'll hear more about Yu.] If one can rise to the occasion, one can grow stronger from conflict. It's the crucible of the heart, my boy, and never forget it.
no subject
Yet they never seem to be, oddly enough. There's always a twist in which they don't expect, and it causes them to be thrown for a loop if they aren't careful. [His past is... definitely a shade of grey, though. Yu turns to fully face Xehanort again, head slightly tilted to the side in curiosity before he nods. For one who has seen the suffering of mankind and helped them reach out for the hope events had taken from them, such things were hard to forget...] I know, but it's nice to hear another person realized this as well.
no subject
[It's a pleasing conversation. He enjoys being able to speak so frankly on matters, even if he's couching his terms carefully. Laying out his beliefs on the table without them immediately being dismissed as evil is rather a novelty.]
We are the sum of our experiences, pain just as much as joy. Without strife to make us stronger, we simply settle for mediocre at best. I learned long ago that not striving and not being willing to fight while everyone else was content to turn their backs and coast along on little more than dogma was far more harmful than anyone could ever realize.
no subject
[He frowns in thought, shaking his head. There is truth in all things; he's simply used to discerning it on both sides of the proverbial coin. A sigh.]
Though you are right in that, it depends on what we are fighting for that's the most telling.
no subject
And that all depends on the perspective of the one you're talking about. Take for instance, the matter of life as one knows it. If you had a means to save the universe as a whole, but requiring the sacrifice of a few people to do so, would you do it?
[He's already expecting the stock answer of "there must be another way so that no one has to die." It's a shame that no one can think practically.]
no subject
'If you're going to treat me this way, I will kill 1,000 humans in your world each day!' ... 'Then I shall give life to 1,500 each day.'
His power was to give life and renewal to those who wished to seek the truth of their own lives, he had saved those he could. To ask him such a question before would have caused an early dismissal and walking away, but now... he had to think and choose his words carefully.]
I would search for the truth. If there was no other way, then perhaps. Though... [Just as he always had, spurred on by others who walked beside him on the same path. The tools to save his own world are already in his hands.] I'd save those who I can, mourn for those who are lost in the process, and-
[he pauses, and for a brief second... it's almost like speaking to another person/fragment/ego/self entirely.]
-pity the fools who blind themselves in their own delusions.
[It isn't accusatory, but a matter of fact- of seeing this before somewhere in another form. Seen the dead, felt the blow to their morale. Yet here he stands tall, not running. The only difference being that he knew how the other plan would have ended up. This one, however... something seems a little off just by bringing this scenario up. The yellow eyes weren't helping matters much, either.]
Why do you ask?
no subject
A small smile curls the corners of his mouth at the last line, though he doesn't respond directly. There's a strong ring to it, one that he almost feels akin to for what he is certain there's different reasons. He's beyond the point of pity for most of them - some of them simply aren't worth it, others have turned their back on the universe so soundly there's nothing to be done for them at all.
As for the question...]
I find such a question tends to reveal quite a bit about a person and their beliefs.
no subject
He doesn't have to stare at a light, because his heart is filled with it, as it is with darkness. For in humanity as a whole, there are many other selves living inside the sea of each soul. Some merciful, some demonic. It is with both that he is able to reach through the deepest darkness and see through the blinding fog of the lies and heresy that had claimed so many others.
The reasoning is different, most definitely, yet he promised so many others when he accepted the role as their leader that he would not blind himself to the reality around them. Thus he shakes his head slightly at the answer he's given. No, he doesn't feel as though it were a lie. Yet something seems... off.]
Unfortunately not all have an answer for it. [Or simply don't give a shit, as the case may be.]
no subject
[And they give him an idea of where they stand on such an issue, and whether or not he can really count on them in the end not to simply turn on him if things head south. The shrewd and objective are far more reasonable to speak with and deal with in general than those caught up passionately in the struggles of life.]
no subject
[He frowns in thought, trying not to give too much else away on his stances. After all, actions are much more powerful over words. One could navigate a conversation with ease, but backing it up with what one does after the fact was much more revealing.
Think what you will about him, but there is a balance to everything. For one who plans his actions out as well as can be achieved without knowing what the future entails, he prefers to think himself as a healthy combination of the two. Objective, but always willing to take the time to assist others in their own struggles.]
no subject
And of course, while one can obfuscate words, their actions will still speak for them to a degree. What then, of those repentant, who wish to atone for their follies? They are surely doomed to a life of disbelief and suffering. Appropriate perhaps, but not something most could truly take.
no subject
Mm... Going by the rules of society I was raised in, they would have to prove themselves. Though there are still crimes in which the world does not forgive, nor those who suffered because of them. [A sigh, and he takes a few steps away from the windows with book in hand.] Whether they could take it or not is up to them. So long as there is one person who believes in them, it seems to make a difference.
no subject
So it is for most. [He clasps his hands behind his back, pacing slightly.] It's a shame that there's so few people in the world with more open minds. Not being focused narrowly on one thing could truly do the universe some good.
no subject
'Open minds,' huh. [He is pacing himself, keeping an eye on Xehanort. It's only common courtesy after all.
'Law to reign in discord, discord to open the eyes who would follow blindly into the void of a life that holds no meaning...' He offers a faint, vaguely amused sound as a smirk finally crosses the carefully guarded mask-shadow seemingly a bit more bold on the floor as he frowns again.] Opening the mind in itself can be dangerous and painful. Many would rather live in ignorance than face themselves or the world around them, let alone the entire universe.
[Something they can't afford, especially in a tower such as this.]
no subject
Sadly, this is why the universe is the way it is. So few are strong at heart enough to open their minds and truly understand... not without turning to hide or losing their minds completely.
no subject
It sounds like you've run into this a few too many times before, Xehanort-san.

Which is why we decide our own fate. [Because to hell with the plans of eldritch creatures and gods.] Each and every one of us. Whether it be to face truth, or turn our backs upon it.
[
'I reject your reality and substitute my own' okay no.]no subject
But he'll let it slide for now, as it's hardly the time for that sort of discussion.]
Of course. It is a rather sad state of affairs that one can simply turn their back and then act in such a close-minded and unpleasant fashion to those who have decided that they won't run and have chosen to pick up the slack the others have left.
Then again, the universe is a sorry place, is it not? That such things must happen.
no subject
Even if it is, it's our universe. Whether they turn their backs on it, or they fight to protect and save it.
[It should be obvious which side of the fence he's on, just by the look in his cold, steel-colored eyes.]
no subject
Indeed. And those who allow it to spiral into destruction will someday learn the price of their folly.
