1 Flashback

Characters: Marty, and anyone that wants to talk to a rather down young man
Setting: Somewhere that is NOT his room, because wtf dragon roommate. Okay okay Floor 38 with the new lounge because it's close to the dorms!
Format: Anything
Summary: Marty is just starting to come to terms with where he is and the fact the Doc thinks they destroyed their universe with their time-space shenanigans.
Warning: None. Marty's a good kid.

It was really, really hard thinking you destroyed your universe. Marty had barely been able to eat or sleep much since he arrived her and discovered Doc Brown not far away. It was just too unbelievable. The DeLorean shouldn't have been able to mess things up that badly, and he had always been able to fix things before.

Here, he felt like he couldn't do anything about it, and that just, really pissed him off and depressed him. He wasn't going to get to see his parents, or his brother and sister, or Jennifer for that matter.

Rubbing his face, he walked out into the lounge floor below the dorms, seeking just a quiet place to rest and think. He flopped on a sofa, staring out into the mists below and above, and wondered why the hell they couldn't just, you know, put up one of those holographic windows from 2015. It'd be better than this! It felt like a place between universes with that view.

Settling down with his chin in his hand, he sighed. Hope didn't help much when you were faced with the destruction of a universe.

"No, not exactly. Well, first I accidentally made Earth die by meteors by playing a video game. And after that I messed up the game so bad that I had to reset it, which was basically like resetting the whole entire universe. So I blew it up that way too." This was voiced like a joke (well, everything's voiced like a joke), but he was telling the truth nonetheless.

Though his expression soon sobered as he listened to Marty. "I'm sorry. But the best I can say is, well, people come here at different times. So someone you know could arrive later. I mean, I was here for like five months before my friend Rose came back."

"Really." He smiled softly, launching straight into friendleader mode. "Yeah, a video game... well, a computer game, anyway. Most of the games where I come from are shooting things too, but this one was special."

"Well, I didn't play it on purpose. I'm not that crazy." John settled in to a chair and began to tell what he thought was a harrowing tale of action and intrigue. "It was a new game, and they held a contest to win four copies of the game to give to your friends -- because it's multiplayer. The day it came out was on my birthday, so I entered and won, and I sent the other copies to my three friends -- they were the only people who got out of Earth alive, besides me. I didn't realize what exactly it involved until later, you know? Around the time the meteors came." He smirked.

"No, the spaceship didn't come until later. I escaped through a portal to a place called the Land of Wind and Shade, and then I proceeded through there, and a bunch of other places." He wisely neglected to mention the part where he nearly died (and did die, in an alternate timeline) because of the guidance from a certain female troll. "Actually, the first time I touched a spaceship was when I had just started the reset -- or the Scratch, which is its proper name. My friend Jade drove it in and picked me up on it. Then I came here."

"I'm from regular Earth! Um, Washington, specifically." Wow, it feels like so long since he's been there. John laughs and shrugs, realizing at the same time that he can't remember what his house looked like anymore. "And no no no, they're not big or ugly. Umm... they're like humans, but they have gray skin and horns and different blood colors. There are a few of them in this tower, you might meet some later on."

"Oh, no, they don't live on Earth. I take to them on the Int-- wait, you came from 1985?" John's eyes just about bugged out of his head. "I'm from 2009!"

John looked confused for a minute there, while Marty had his epiphany face on, but he reverted right back to happy when he understood why. "I didn't even think of that! That's great! ...um. Who's the Doc?"
