Kuja falls quiet, face pained. If they're being observed, Kuja needs to keep his acting consistent. Especially if those not in this maze were watching.
"It's only the first day, right? Maybe we should hold out longer before resorting to that. We don't have to fall to pieces right away."

"Hopefully most are like you. I wonder if they would force the matter at the end."
Preferably not. If they're really meant to fight to the death, then the punishment would have to be worse than that to be compelling.

Geez Kuja, y so cynical?
Almost a rhetorical question, really: Kuja could think of several possibilities. Torture, extortion, blackmail... Even if all of the residents were from different worlds, they would naturally form bonds with others, and such bonds were exploitable. Especially since the Tower made a clear "us vs. them" situation with those brought here. Kuja knew people kill for less, he had no doubt that forcing the issue would be no problem at all, whatever moral strictures the others followed.

This was a time Suzaku really didn't like thinking of, but if this person was new he had to know what those who held them captive were capable of. "They cut off his horns, he was wrapped in some kind of plastic, his powers didn't work, he couldn't really see or hear. The rest of us... well not everyone but those chosen for the experiment we began to be controlled. My other roommate began to be paranoid about everything, I started seeing things. Things I believed to be real, at first just sounds and glimpses of things, later monsters and bodies..."
He paused, it was not often Suzaku spoke this much but there was a lot to explain. "This lasted about a month, everyone got worse. Another friend of mine who is gone now felt pain every time he broke a rule or even thought about going against those that brought us here. Eventually he was compelled to kill those original eight. I felt... It felt like they were just other monsters like those I was seeing and I should kill them, it was the only way anything could be helped. My roommate was convinced they were part of the plan, working for our captors."
He looked down, "Everyone effected hunted the eight and they were killed, I have no doubt that if they wanted us to they could force us to kill each other in this labyrinth."

"I... I had no idea. I'm so sorry about you and your friends. Maybe you've thought of this, but are you sure you weren't cursed or drugged? Some substances can cause hallucinations, after all."

no subject
"No, but I know of some substances that can cause vivid visions. I could think of some curses - that is, magic - that could cause something similar."
no subject
"Perhaps, it would not surprise me if those that brought us here had such magic or power."

Ideally Kuja should find a partner or two for this event, someone to increase his odds on surviving. However, eventually they would have to fight each other, and it'd be better to kill Suzaku before it came down to just them two. That would just make the Tower label Kuja as a backstabber, as one stringing an innocent along the whole time.
"Maybe we should split up while we can."

But he nodded at the words, Suzaku was planning to stay alone, better for everyone. He knew those who had captured them had the ability to turn off his Geass but he did not know if they had. He wouldn't know until he was attacked and he didn't want to kill anyone. Didn't want a repeat of the hide and seek game. It was better he remained on his own, Kuja seemed the kind who could look after himself.
"It is probably for the best yes."

"Well then, better sooner rather than later."
Walking off, Kuja focused on his timing. It wasn't vitally important, but he liked to be precise about these matters. Fortunately he had much experience in faking these sort of things. At the right moment, Kuja turned around and gave a wave.
"Thanks for not killing me!"
That should lay an emotional hook or two.

He hoped he didn't run into him again whilst in the labyrinth.
