Why did this have to happen?
"It isn't your fault," Yu replied calmly, or as calm as he could when all but Izanagi-no-Okami's voice were fighting themselves for being the loudest, screaming at him to run. That even merciful death wouldn't be merciful if his user was this pissed. Izanagi, however... he knew the pain that resonated in this child's soul as much as Yu did.
"I know how you feel, but it isn't your fault." Despite the protests of his Persona and the pain in his own soul because of what had happened when he ran into his fellow Wild Card users, he still approached. It was almost funny, how life had befriended the aspect of death. "If it's anyone's fault, it's the one who did this to her."
Is vengeance really the way, though?

It was hard to explain. There really wasn't much he could explain. How could he explain to someone who hadn't gone through losing family how important it is to cling to the family he has left, to shield them and protect them from anything he can? That anyone who tries to harm them is to be driven away?
He couldn't. There weren't the words to put it in any way someone could understand.
"Help me find them. Help me find them. And then I need to find Minami and both Minatos. I don't want them to get hurt, either."

"...I'll help you look for Minami and Minato." Ryoji should be able to discern which one he meant. After all, he was only close enough to his roommate and predecessor to use his first name. "...and I'm not kidding when I say I know how you feel."
Just looking at Minako, covered by Shinjiro's coat... he was reminded so strongly of the little life that had nearly been taken away in his very arms because of another who'd blinded himself from the truth. It stung, even now. Especially now that he'd seen friends die before him and he was left unable to do anything about it. Now wasn't the time to talk about it, but instead look away from the body and begin moving. With a sigh, he added onto his statement.
"If they haven't been picked off yet with what Castor caused slowing them down, I doubt they'll last much longer."
What a grim truth...
[Open]
"Castor... what happened? Did you see what happened?" If Shinjiro was involved... this might have been even worse than what he might have thought. Was he dead, too? He didn't know. If only someone like Fuuka was here - they could find the others, maybe...

Meaning he'd gotten there when things had already gone to hell and he was unable to help otherwise. He winced slightly. "...The rest of us managed to survive another day together after that, at least."
[Open]
"I still want to find them. I want to know why - ... I want to get out of here without killing anyone. If we all work together, we could manage it."

Ryoji seems to sag a bit, exhausted. He hasn't gotten much sleep, and he needs to eat more, but his food is gone except for a few crumbs.

"Get some rest. I'll keep an eye out for now."
