Summary: In which Eridan pretends he knows how to sew. Spoilers, he doesn't. Backdated to before the Labyrinth event!

[It's really not that hard, he figures, to use his torn jacket as a pattern and make a new one with some scraps of red fabric lying around. It's just. Cutting fabric and sewing it together. How hard can it be?

Apparently, very hard and not really a project for the uninitiated.

He's left the whole mess on a workbench for now, focusing on patching up his other pair of pants. That, at least, he's relatively used to. It's not the neatest of stitch-work, but at least it'll hold.

At least, he thinks with grim amusement, he has two hands now, to do this. Otherwise it'd be well and truly hopeless.]

[He sighed, shaking his head.]

No, Estelle, I did not do it on purpose. Jesus.

[Awk...ward... She laughs sheepishly, having the good grace to look ashamed, at least.]

Of course! I'm sorry. I suppose I worry about you too much, don't I?

[He raised his right hand and put his thumb and his index close together, almost touching.]

You seem to get into a lot of trouble!

I've been meaning to ask you... Do you think you could tell me more about your world? Please?

...why does everyone always say that?

[Yeah, mr. doomed selves just said that. Unironically, even.]

[She beams, scooting closer.]

[He looked at Estelle curiously.]

What... are you curious about?

[She is totally serious.]

[chronomancer]

You want me to tell you everything about my world, or rather, my planet-conquering, galactic empire culture.

[She nods!]

Well... Maybe you could start with where you lived?

[chronomancer]

Me? Well, I used to live in the inland desert.

[He scratched behind one ear.]

Not really the nicest place in Alternia, though.

[selenic]

[She's listening with rapt attention, speaking up only to urge him on.]

[sdlgjhsdlfjkgdfg, WHY IS SHE SO INTERESTED, no one is that interested in him, ever]

Oh, well. It's full of monsters and the heat can be overwhelming for trolls who aren't used to it. That and... well, there aren't places to hide when the sun rises---we're mostly nocturnal, because the sun is scorching. Trolls that can stand the sunlight are rare. So in general, I don't think anyone would really pick the desert as their holiday destination of choice.

[She giggles, tilting her head.]

So why did you live there?

[chronomancer]

I dunno.

[He shrugged.]

It seemed like a good idea at the time. But then I was just... a wiggler. Everything seemed like a good idea at the time.

[selenic]

What's a wiggler?

[chronomancer]

...well, to be honest, I wasn't a wiggler-wiggler when the hive was built. It's more of a figure of speech.

[He looks a bit puzzled himself.]

I mean, a wiggler is a wiggler. You know, tiny heads with tiny squishy bodies the color of your blood and three pairs of wiggling legs?

[How can you not know what a wiggler is?]

You know, wigglers.

[selenic]

Like a... Worm?

[chronomancer]

Worms don't have legs, though.

[Pause.]

Or pupate into people.

[Longer pause.]

Do they?

[selenic]

No! Humans start out as babies.

[chronomancer]

Right, the pink prune things. Yes.

They're not prune things.
