[OPEN][BACKDATED] Stitch me back, one by one!

Setting: Floor 15, the workshop.
Format: I'll start with action, but I'll match you.
Summary: In which Eridan pretends he knows how to sew. Spoilers, he doesn't. Backdated to before the Labyrinth event!

[It's really not that hard, he figures, to use his torn jacket as a pattern and make a new one with some scraps of red fabric lying around. It's just. Cutting fabric and sewing it together. How hard can it be?

Apparently, very hard and not really a project for the uninitiated.

He's left the whole mess on a workbench for now, focusing on patching up his other pair of pants. That, at least, he's relatively used to. It's not the neatest of stitch-work, but at least it'll hold.

At least, he thinks with grim amusement, he has two hands now, to do this. Otherwise it'd be well and truly hopeless.]

[A shrug.]

...I'm not adverse to experimentin'.

[Pause.]

And you probably know how to do this better than me, so I'll trust your judgment.

[mamadonna]

[ She took the jacket from the table, preparing to get to work. ]

Would you like me to take this to another table, where you won't need to witness my mutilation of your treasured garment?

[chronomancer]

[A snicker. And it's in good humor despite his words:]

I hardly think watching you modify it will be the worst I've seen done to that jacket.

[Pause.]

Plus, there's the bonus of not wearing it as it happens.

[mamadonna]

Very well. [ She smiles back as she begins ripping the seams holding the sleeve in place. Once she's done, he's left with a red vest that Marty McFly would probably be jealous of...especially considering he's a current resident of the Tower. ]

Do you have any preferences for the color of the replacement sleeves?

[chronomancer]

[He watches her work with a little awe, because... well. She's good and he's not, and he can admit that with ease. The question makes him blink. And grin wryly.]

Somethin' that won't make me a walkin' target?

[Says the guy wearing green, red, black and grey.]

[mamadonna]

[ She steps back from it, looking it over and pondering the possibilities. ]

Perhaps...something in a Vanilla.

[ She moves off to start digging through the fabric. Yes, Eridan, she is going to make it into a letter jacket. ]

[chronomancer]

[...he knew there was a reason he liked her. 0w0]

That'd work.

[Hoovering. And staring. And being a barely restrained eager puppy. Hope you don't mind!]

[mamadonna]

[ She finally digs out the fabric she needs, and a nice thick needle to work with it, and looks a little giddy as she heads back to the work table. ]

Well, I'm glad you approve.

[ And seeing the boy hovering so excitedly, she just can't resist reaching over and ruffling his hair before she gets down to business. ]

[Oh god, she gets a flinch and a squawk for her ruffling efforts, and he remains bracing for a moment, as if expecting violence. HE DOESN'T HAVE GOOD EXPERIENCE WITH ADULTS IN CLOSE PROXIMITY, OKAY. To say nothing of sweeps growing up being told adults are not to be triffled with.

Still, he peeks at her over the rim of his sunglasses, a little unsure, a little nervous, a little weirded out because that actually felt nice.]

I do. Approve, I mean. You have very good taste.

[mamadonna]

[ The reaction is a little surprising, but once he settles into something more embarrassed than frightened, she smiles and stifles a laugh. ]

I appreciate the compliment, Eridan. It should only be right that you would like something which will ultimately be for your use.

[chronomancer]

[Can we just... engage in awkward shrugging now? I think it's time for awkward shrugging.]

Yeah...

[mamadonna]

Such a confident answer.

[ She begins trimming the cloth into a pattern for the sleeve. ]

[chronomancer]

...I'm plenty confident when not dealin' wwith a troll kinda twice my size.

[A little shrug, oh please, please don't take that the wrong way...]

[mamadonna]

[ Her expression softens somewhat. ]

And even after all this time, do I still inspire such abject fear in you?

[chronomancer]

[He looks down and away for a moment.]

I'm sorry, it's not you. Honest. I'm just... used to company either trying to cull me or being me. Especially when it's anything bigger than me. I don't mean it that way.

[mamadonna]

[ She sighs, turning back to her work. ] Well, I suppose I could make an attempt on your life, if it would make you more comfortable, but I doubt either of us would enjoy it.

[chronomancer]

[Did you mean to make him shrink? Because he just shrunk at least two sizes and his head might get perpetually stuck between his shoulders.]

'm sorry.

[mamadonna]

[ She looks back up at him with a smile. ]

Eridan, that was a joke.

[chronomancer]

Oh.

[Awkward.]

...I'm really bad at this, aren't I.

[mamadonna]

[ Do not tempt her to ruffle your hair again. ]

[chronomancer]

[Pause.]

Eventually.

[mamadonna]

We'll make a proper connoisseur of comedic attempts out of you yet.

[ And then she pats him...on the shoulder. ]

[Yep, standing firmly here on the awkward side.]

[mamadonna]

[ She lets out a soft laugh. ]

The first step would be to consider relaxing a moment for once.
