ITP: Nightwatch

Summary: Minami is organizing a Night Watch for the tower.

Minami was nervous after making that post. A Night Watch? Really? True she'd led SEES, but Mitsuru had helped her with that and Minami had no idea what, exactly, what she was doing. She knew it was best to try to do this by ear. After all, patrolling the tower would be no different than patrolling Tartarus, right? The only difference was how many groups would be going through and she'd only be organizing the groups and where they go.

So she'd made signs, put them up by the elevators, and waited for dinnertime that evening to see who would be interested.

He nodded, somehow snapping him right back into a a serious mode. Maybe it was the whole mentioning of Tartarus.

"Make sure those of us that are strong physically patrol the floors where none of our powers work."

"That's the idea. Or to mix up those who are physically weak with strong powers with those who are physically capable with weak or no powers. Just in case they run into something that works well against one, but not the other."

Shinjiro waited a few seconds before answering, quietly pondering over everything.

"Looks like you've already been planning this pretty well." That was a compliment. D'you know which levels give the most trouble? Might be a good idea to have bigger patrol groups for those ones..."

"I've done this before, you know. And I had Mitsuru and Akihiko helping me at first. Then when...." she faltered a moment. It was easy, sometimes too easy, to think of this Shinjiro as her own instead of as a "cousin" of his.

"When he was around, we talked about it a lot. How to arrange the teams, how to rotate our runs so everyone could train and could be most effective with each other. It's the same principles, but on a larger scale."

It was strange to hear how much his other self would talk a lot about arranging the teams. With Minako it had taken him a while to warm up. He supposed different situations would cause different reactions...

...and yet he still ended up dead there. Probably by his own fault, the dumb idiot...

"...yeah, you're right," he said nodding. "This tower almost makes Tartarus seem like child's play."

Or she had just followed him around and pestered him into helping her on more than one occasion. Po-tay-to, po-tah-to.

"Tell me about it," she said, sinking down in her seat a bit, "I never thought I'd actually miss it." There was, after all, a big difference between a constant looming threat and one that only existed for an hour each night.
