Alone in the D/The Thunder Rolls

Summary: Power's out, and Shou has night-vision goggles. Also he finds the the storm fascinating.

Floor Four

[After the broadcast, Shou was heading back upstairs to check on the others when he got rather caught up in watching the storm outside. After all, watching the rain is a hardboiled thing to do, right?]

Dorms

[Shou's going from room to room, checking on others there, using the DenDen Sensor to navigate the dark hallways. Bless Philip for putting this thing together, even it seemed silly at the time.]

Alright - apologies. [He chuckles a bit, then shakes his head.]

[The detective makes a slightly annoyed face.]

Kinda rude to pry like that, y'know.

Oh. Sorry, I didn't realize it was prying. [Now he feels baaad]

I just thought maybe you did it for fun or something.

[Awkward pause, awkward-er stare out the window.]

It's complicated.

[Oh wait, prying.]

Um, I mean, you don't have to talk about it if you don't want to.

[Derp he's gonna try looking out the window again.]

Yeah.

[The recovery makes him smile a little, though.] There you go, you're learning.

[He holds a hand out after several moments.] Shoutaoru Hidari.

Ventus. [Shakes hand] But call me Ven!

[Shou nods.] Nice to meet you, Ven.

...--Huh [Had he just heard someone call his name?] Did you hear something...? [Nah, he had to be imagining things, right?]

A fair bit... Hm?

[Shou turns, looking around.] I think we're the only ones here...

[Ven was busy looking around the room, although he couldn't see very well with the lights out.]

Are you sure...? [He could have sworn..]

[And then he whipped around away from the window; there was definitely something else there-- a female voice calling his name.] Aqua...?

[Shou turns around as well, pulling his Driver out, and putting it on. Stuff's getting weird, because he's hearing that too.]

If you're out there, come out where we can see you!

[What was that thing that he pulled out? Ven Stepped in front of Shou, he sure seemed like he was trying to do something]

No, wait! Aqua's my friend!

[He glanced back when his name was called again.] Aqua?! What are you doing?! [And he ran towards wherever the voice was.]

[He's just taking precautions!]

Your fri--wait, damnit, don't just run off! It's dark!

[It, was pretty dark, wasn't it. Didn't stop him from going towards the woman calling his name.]

I'm fine, really...!

[Er. Maybe. He felt really tired all of a sudden..]

[Shoutarou grumbled, following still - he didn't like this one bit...]

Aqua...

[Thump. He fell to his knees and slunk back onto the ground, covering his ears with his hands. He kept hearing her but he couldn't find her, why couldn't he find her? It was too hard to stand up again.]

W-Where is...?

Ven? Ven! [Shoutarou rushed up once the kid went down, stooping down beside him, and shaking his shoulder.] Hey, hey, talk to me, kiddo.

[Shoutarou found himself feeling rather tired as well...]

[Ven made no resistance to Shou shaking him other than lowering his arms a bit, so he kind of flopped around under the man's grip.]

W-What's going on...? [Was about as much as he could muster.]

I don't know, but we're getting out of here... [Shou grunts, hoisting one of Ven's arms over his shoulders, and attempting to pull him up.]

[Probably the best time to actually listen to the adults. Ven attempted to push himself off the ground a bit, but that was about as far as he got, lacking the energy to do much beyond that.]

But whatever that was...! [Was this happening to other people here too?]

We can worry about it when the lights come back on. [Important thing is getting the kid out of danger. So for now, Shou will amble toward the stairs.]
