3 / Disruption
Characters: Kohaku & Jay. And you, somewhat!
Setting: Dorm room 2-07, then Floor 1. Both at night, backdated to the 28th!
Format: hell yeah prose!!
Summary: Open for dormmates/people out around the dorms at night in the first half, closed in the second. Kohaku's been slipping off to the infirmary to yoink things, and tonight she's pushed her luck too far.
Warnings: NANA, NANANA, NANA (freakin' miniblins)
Slipping out in the middle of the night was usually a simpler matter than this. She hadn't considered it before, but as the breathing of her roommates turned into the much more encouraging sounds of slumbering, Kohaku came to the conclusion that "hm, this is rather inconvenient."
Once she was reasonably certain they were down for the count, though, she was off to the elevator.
This is the closed part:
The ding of the elevator arriving (..well, maybe that was bit more of a beep) was the loudest sound since she'd started her little excursion, and Kohaku nearly winced at it. She'd have half a mind to walk the stairs down if she was going to be given away by a pesky elevator, but there were way too many floors for that. Ah, well... she sets back on the way to the infirmary, steps soundless since she was smart enough to leave her noise sandals behind.
BUT THEN THE PREDICTABLE HAPPENS--!
Kohaku hears them before she sees them - a high-pitched chorus of short little calls, something like "Nana, nana!" from..somewhere above and behind her. She decides she would rather not see the originators, andcue benny hill music takes off at a rather jaunty pace.
Un-fort-unately, a tiny little maid is not going to be outrunning a bunch of monsters, no matter how mini those 'blins are. She manages to shake a good chunk of them (or at least a good chunk of them decided to shut up), but then one drops down right in front of her and -
She - there seems to be teeth digging into an arm, there.

[closed] so can i be ridiculous as hell here
Actually, your arm probably hurts more because of that, but Jay isn't really one to worry about that part- he wants it dead, then he'll deal with injuries. Really, what are these tower people thinking, having all these folks unarmed? Sheesh.
"This isn't exactly the best time to be slinking around, you know." He's not exactly taking the tiny monster very seriously, considering he immediately turned to chide Kohaku after kicking it away. "You're lucky we're close to the infirmary. Or, was that your goal?"
yop same for me
A familiar feeling of a slightly light head strikes, and that's about when the not-so-dead Miniblin draws itself up
and gains an actual health bar.most beautiful thread in the history of the tower
Just as he was about to usher her towards the infirmary door, he glanced back and watched as the miniblin got up.
"What...?"
Wow, what a novice mistake. He didn't know much about the enemies here- why would he turn his back on one?
"Get inside. I'll be in soon." And just like that, his hands went in to his pockets, toe tapping on the floor. Totally a legit fighting posture, okay???
guys this is how we do an fight scene right
Powered up though it may be, a mutilated tower Miniblin is still just that, so it's threatening charge forward is turning into a threatening (but still fast) stagger forward.
"..."
Kohaku, meanwhile, stalls
damn escort quest civilians always do,looks legitimately dizzy - then says an assent as an aside, and goes for the door...she fumbles a bit opening it, considering that whoops her hand is kind of slicked with blood. But hey she makes it in, that's gotta count for some amount of competency right.
no okay this is how you do it i am the best at fight scenes
"Oh, well..."
Of course, nobody would actually be AROUND to see whatever the fuck he was doing, so it ended up being a sea of 'Pyre!', 'Silent Reaper!', 'Falcon!' and 'Silent Lightning!'. Oh, and a 'Demon Seal!' or two.
After a while, however, the odd attack-calling was finished, and there was a jingle of the handle.
"It's me. Open up."
wow you made me edit for that
"Coming!"
It takes her moment to get back to the door, though, and she notes the bell - vaguely, she does recall hearing a jingle before, when the ~mysterious monster kicker~ appeared.
She steps back with the door as she opens it. She looks entirely too well-composed for someone that just had a terrible little gremlin wrapping its teeth around their arm.
i love you matchre, will you be my matesprit
"Did you clean it?" His frown only grew as he noticed, running his thumb over the wound. She really didn't feel good, either. It was still oozing, and the cut looked rather...strange for a cut like that. Were those monsters poisonous?
Well, that'd explain how she was looking, for sure. It could be reacting with whatever, if any, cleaner she'd used...or it could already be on it's way to killing her. He had to do something, now, or he was going to have a lot of awkward explaining in the morning.
"Just stay still-" And just like that, he latched his mouth on to the wound, giving a quick suck in, before spitting quickly on to the floor. He probably wasn't going to get a second chance to continue...
oh my fucking god
THIS THREAD IN A NUTSHELLthat's a yes by the by
That's disinfectant, you cad.But it is true that it's a bit worse than you'd expect from a bite - but probably about the baseline of what one would expect from a bite gotten here. There's a lack of resistance to her arm, starting from right after he first grabs it - Kohaku noticeably looks away to watch the door (presumably to see if anything shows up to bang at it). "The salve's kept in the first cabinet, it was easy to get. I was just about to--"
What is he doing?
Kohaku, predictably, collects back her arm as soon as he's went to spit, looking noticeably paler. Did he figure it out from that monster..? It's not that easy to discern, right?
"--I would rather you not."
uguu
Wait. His nails were glowing.
He wasn't in combat.
Why were his nails glowing?
Jay turned his hand over, staring at the rainbow shimmer with a degree of shock. After a moment, he glanced behind him, around the room, before peering back at Kohaku curiously.
"What...did you do...?"
1/2 because my thread i do wwhat i wwant
She doesn't know what the deal with the glowing nails is, but it's easy enough to shrug off as 'something shiny.'
"..."
Her smile weakens.
2/2 don't stop me noww
"I'm sure that first monster normally wouldn't have been able to get right back up like it did. It had pretty amazing stamina, huh?"
you aren't posting with eric you know
What did the two incidents have in common?
"Your wound?"
He found his tongue was suddenly an awkward weight in his mouth, and he suddenly wishes he could go gargle or something. His nails were still shimmering like the .~*faaaaaaaabulous*~. things they were, but he'd completely given up on paying them any mind. It'd run out eventually- for now, he'd just stuff his hands in to his pockets.
...which just made his pockets glow. Welp.
"I'll assume it's an unconscious ability."
i wwish i wwas
have eric cosplay as kohaku, duh
"If it were that personal to you, then you could have said something sooner."
You know before HE BASICALLY GOT YOUR BLOOD IN HIS MOUTH FOR NOTHING.
"I thought you were faint from..."
Yeah, he's just going to hang his head and facepalm. REALLY. THIS IS WHERE HIS ATTEMPTS AT PROLONGING LIFE GET HIM oh geez his nailbling is getting in his eyes-
oh my fuckin cod
Oh, hey, there's the bandages. She ceases midsentence to grab those suckers and actually get to work on the bandage-inating.
"Ah, let me put it this way. Do you think this is something that is all that easily explained?"
i want some cod that sounds delicious
"Perhaps I was hasty. I apologize for that."
He shrugged and turned to glance at the door, before keeping an eye on her bandaging skills.
"I'm simply not used to people actually knowing what they're doing with medical attention, I guess."
trout is better tho
Let's not be too standoffish to the person who knows one of her secrets, la la la~.
Kohaku's bandaging skills do have clear practice behind them - while bites of this magnitude aren't what she normally deals with, it's not that much different. Unless it really is poisonous, but she doesn't feel all that woozy past the effects of Synchronization.. and that she's already shrugged off~!
"I'm not too noisy about it, but I do know one or two things."
Dorm 2 Floor
But then she heard some noises that concerned her, so she went to investigate.
"Hello?"
Re: Dorm 2 Floor
..well, it's someone she's actually met before. That's surprising, at this hour. "Hello to you too. I didn't expect company."

2-07
LATER, IN ROOM 2-07:
Rather than sleep, Kohaku simply sits down on her own bed, and sighs lightly. Visibility isn't much, but white will still stand out in a dark room for people whose eyes are adjusted - and there's white bandages on her left arm where there certainly wasn't before
no subject
...Kohaku-san.
[She speaks in a low voice, as not to wake up anyone else. For a brief, but visible moment, her eyes flicker towards the bandages. A small benefit of staying awake for so long was her eyes adjusting to the darkness.]
no subject
Ah, Kirigiri-san..? You're awake this early?
no subject
[If Kohaku hid her arm, then that points towards her also trying to hide what she just did. There's really only one way to confirm that, though.]
Were you woken up, too?
no subject
That's right.
[She gives a slight yawn, stifling it with her undamaged sleeve.]
I suppose we're both not used to sleeping here yet, huh?
no subject
I hadn't even gotten used to the last place I was in. It's been difficult.
no subject
Adjusting to things like this always is, I think. But you just.. have to give up and meld to it, eventually...
[Yeah that's the sound of Kohaku trailing off into a not-entirely-vigilant-on-what-she's-saying doze, because for such a spartan environment these pillows are unconscionably comfortable.
