Summary: After seeing Tara and how hurt she was, and seeing as there is no working infirmary Shion tries to do something to help
Warnings: Just general horror stuff

Shion was trying to keep busy, he was training with Reno and Xion, helping gathering food and generally trying to keep going. He wore the pin Reno had given him on his shirt collar; he really was just beginning to grasp all that it stood for and probably wouldn't for a long time. But he understood family and though Reno and Xion would never replace his mum, Nezumi, Safu, those he had lost... They could be another family, one here. People to care for, who cared for him in return.

So he was recovering, slowly, a step at a time and today would be another step. After helping Tara he had realised that without workers those who were injured would not get any care. The infirmary was as dark as everywhere else and that meant there would probably be monsters there at times...

Shion didn't know much about medicine, but he knew enough to clean and bandage wounds, even to deal with broken bones though he had never done that for real. Reno's spare EMR in hand Shion entered the infirmary. He should probably start with one room, if he could get one of the examination rooms organised it would be a start. He began moving things about, dust had began to gather and so all the sides needed washing, so he started with that.

"It is nice to meet you Chihiro Fujisaki, I am Shion." He smiled at her again.

"Just Chihiro is fine, Shion-kun."

"Chihiro," he smiled again, coming from somewhere where no one had more than one name it was a little confusing to know what he should use.

"Are you from Japan too, Shion-kun?"

[savedbyasong]

Shion shook his head, luckily he had spoken to quite a few people now and this wasn't the first time he had been asked such a question. "In the world I come from we don't have countries or such anymore, they existed once but there was a war that almost destroyed everything. The remaining people forged a treaty and founded six cities that lived in harmony with one another, I am from No. 6 but I don't know where it would be in relation to the old countries, though I believe Japan was a name of one such country in my world."

Chihiro looked at him with wide eyes. "Eh? A war that destroyed almost everything? Japan was one of the countries. May I ask what year it is in your world, Shion-kun?"

Shion nodded, "It is 2013, or was when I left... though I don't suppose that matters if the worlds truly did end."

"2013? That-That's in my future then! What do you mean by that... the worlds truly ending...?"

[savedbyasong]

"That's what they said... in the letters, that our worlds were gone and that is why we are here..." He wondered just how new she was, to not know that. "Some people claim it's not real... but my friend spent some time on his dead world... it seems real..."

"The letters...? Oh, you mean the ones we got when we arrived here? I... don't really believe it because my classmates and I are all from different times in our world... some of them are from my future and some are from my past so my world couldn't have been destroyed..."

Shion nodded, "It is strange yes, but my friend went back, was sent back to his world and it was dead..." He had no idea how people could come from different times, or different worlds could have people who were the same person. He understood very little.

"He went back? You mean he was here, then went back to your world then came back here?"

[savedbyasong]

"To his world yes, he's not from the same place as me. But he was here and then he went back for a few days and then returned, it happens sometimes."

"And his world... really was destroyed...?"

[savedbyasong]

"Yes... he said everything was gone..." Shion didn't like even thinking about it. The idea everyone might be dead...

"I see..." That really is very depressing news...

[savedbyasong]

Shion just nodded, feeling bad that he had made her sad, but there was nothing he could say to make her feel better. It was the truth.

"Then... we really are stuck here?"

[savedbyasong]

"Well... there must be something outside this tower... we must be somewhere." Perhaps there were other safe places that didn't seek to harm them.

[cutestprogrammer]

"But no one has ever managed to get outside, have they?"

[savedbyasong]

"No... but that doesn't mean there's nothing out there." Unfortunately those that kept them prisoner had more power than all of them put together it seemed.

"I suppose so... What do you think it's like outside?"

[savedbyasong]

"I'm not sure... it looks barren but looking at the life in this tower, the forests, the meadow. That all has to come from somewhere and even if they brought it from another world it must mean they have the ability to create conditions here to ensure survival.

The biodiversity in the forest on the island alone suggests that this planet has a great potential for life, even if it might be a little different than the worlds we come from..." He blushed slightly realising he had been rambling.

Chihiro doesn't mind the rambling and thinks about all that for a moment before adding.

"I see... but perhaps... the forests and meadow have been move in here because the conditions outside the tower are no longer suitable for their survival?"

[savedbyasong]

"But one of the forests is on the island, that's outside. Surely it would have to be inside if the conditions outside were not suitable..." Shion thought about it again.
