4 / Disruption II
Characters: Kohaku, Jay, and the other poor schmucks left in the main tower.
Setting: Pick a number, any number!
Format: I love prose to bits, but I can action to match you if you're more comfortable so.
Summary: General encounters thread for Kohaku and Jay, seeing as they're buddying up for this month - they're trying to go incognito as they can, but that's not always going to work - you can bug Kohaku alone if you'd prefer not to encounter them both.
Warnings: It's danger month in the tower. So let's get dangerous.
Prior to team up (first few days of the month, feel free to timey-whimey it):
She'd braved the darkened tower exactly once, mindlessly following her routine before she came to another close call with the more bestial part of the populace (her second in such a short period of time, proof she was certainly careless and unused to this place--) but one she got out of relatively unscathed. Well, she did lose a shoe. Coming off inconvenienced more than scared, Kohaku simply takes off the remaining one and stows it in a pocket. This way, at least, she can move about quieter.
It's not too far back to her dorm room. This blackout might go on for who knows how long, but it's nothing she can fix - it's better to linger there and wait.
For a few days, Kohaku can be found at any time in room 2-07.
Post team up (heck yeah team attack:)
BASICALLY?
These dunces are gonna duck around the tower forever, trying to avoid people - but of course, the fact that you're encountering them means they failed rather handily at that. You could've been following their trail for a while or just stumbled on them by chance - either way this uh. This might not go well.
Post team up (Kohaku alone):
She'd ended up down a companion, through some travail or other. Not that this place didn't have more than enough of those to spare, right about now. Kohaku believes she understands much better now what people had meant about the dangers here - and blast, if she would just stop nearly tripping over things. She actually lost her balance all of the way this time, slamming down onto her knees (well, it's good she wore clothes that covered them) and letting herself stay downed for a while out of frustration.
Is that it, frustration? The bubbling feeling that makes her face curl into a grimace - well, she lets it. No one's here to see it and no one can see it in this dark. For just a little while, here...

post team up; floor one
Such a shame too, as Puru Two was hoping to finish her meal, as bad as it was.
"What the hell are you two doing?"
Floor 26 (morgue), I'm fine with either both or just Kohaku!
He's never seen a morgue before, being far too ancient and such a structure having not existed where he could travel in Meridian, so for a moment bewilderment overcomes his hunger. He stares at the bodies and tools, his Arch providing barely-sufficient light so he must move close to the stored corpses.
As he wonders why people would store bodies this way, he hears a sound behind him and whirls around, Arch held in front of him both for light and protection.
"Who's there?"
set-up nonsense NOBODY'S LOOKING HERE ANYWAY
But he was, blissfully, distracted once again from his memories by a small lump in the road. Jay'd nearly tripped, but managed to regain his footing well enough to lean on the wall for support. He reached down, half expecting a trap of some sort...to find a wooden shoe.
A familiar shoe, at that- Jay gripped it with a frown. It wasn't something he'd been thinking about, but leaving her on her own...let alone, if she was attacked my some creature in these conditions...
Jay sped up, peeking his head in to every nearby doorway, until he heard just enough rustling in one of them to make him pause. The door was gently pried open, the shoe wielded like a projectile, just in case.
WOOP - also screw it let's say this is shortly after the tara thing
Now, though, she's actually waking back up. She initially curls into a loose ball sitting upon the bed, a hand hovering hesitantly over the spot in which Tara's hand had implausibly buried itself into her chest. There was no physical wound there, but that feeling that lingered... someone else would have called that an 'aching pain,' right?
She's gotten onto wondering if moving is even worth it to try, as likely as she'll be to just fall from a Synchronization-induced dizzy spell. That's when she catches the specific movement of black in a darkened doorway that means that someone's opening the door, and Kohaku slips from an obviously vulnerable position into something more like 'lounging like this because it's comfortable, thank you.'
"Would I happen to have a visitor?"
timelines! for our sanity!
"It's not safe here- especially with your abilities. Can you defend yourself?"
HOORAY
...Ah. It's that mysterious mister from the other night, as evidenced by the pretty lightshow given by his hands before the glow quickly flickers away. Kohaku retrieves the returned geta quietly, setting it neatly by its match.
She's quite well aware of her vulnerability, yes - "I can't, not properly," is the prompt and honest answer to Jay's question. There are an overwhelming buzz of questions she could formulate as to his coincidental timing or how Tara had known or what have you - every single one of them fades from existence before so much as tickling at the back of her throat.
Dolls don't ask questions. Right now, it's obviously better to just agree and go along with things. It's clear that she'd re-asserted too much too soon.
WOOHOO
"Does anyone else know about what you can do? I need to assess any possible threats. If word gets out at large, we'll both be out of our respective leagues."
Even as he spoke, he was working his way through his pockets for something- eventually getting close enough to hand her a dagger. However, he didn't let go of it immediately.
"You won't want to stick that in my back, for the record. I know trust is thin, but we don't have time to foster a connection."
Honestly, he was beginning to realize he was more effective at being curt after having a party to fuss about than when he'd been running solo. The irony was astonishing.
HOOWOO
But Tara she would deal with on her own terms. "Hmm. I'm confident there's nobody else. I'm quite careful about these things, of course."
The knife was an unexpected touch. Kohaku can't help but let interest light into her face, a mirror, of course, of Hisui's own passion for the instruments - she's sure Hisui-chan would have done something quite endearing, like gently turning the thing over to examine its sum parts and talk knowledgeably about what she saw in hushed detail - but Kohaku herself knows nothing special.
"I'll try not to be clumsy with it. ..Ah, if I might ask! Are things that bad out there already?"
OOWOOH
"Things could be worse. I'd like to be holed up somewhere before it gets to that point." See, he KINDA answered that! "We need to stop by my room- I have food and supplies. Do you have a means to carry what you have? There may be raiding by other people."
i can't think of anymore ridiculous mix ups i need more coffee
...
"...there!"
It was as simple as putting on the apron of her uniform. It had pockets galore and was quite convenient, and the dagger went easily into one. Following the thought, Kohaku took the tanto from her trunk - a Nanaya relic, as she'd had time to learn after examining it.
"I don't own anything else someone would think to steal, unless they wanted flower seeds."
no subject
"Stay behind me. If we come across any monsters, I don't want to risk you becoming injured."
no subject
"..Ufufufu. That would actually be pretty interesting, though."
(Said to his first statement, not the second - when they're actually leaving, Kohaku makes like a compliant little escort quest and follows.)
