A. Floor Twelve


Ivan had been through a lot in his life--through war, and conquest, invasion and genocide. But even with that experience, the tower was starting to run him down. Being cut off from his people, from his own home stung enough as it was--it was an ache that had started in his chest, and just would not go away. Honestly he felt a little sick--and the lack of alcohol didn't help. At least when life had gotten bad before he hadn't been sober.

The room wasn't helping. Especially not when he realized the significance of it--worlds being destroyed, over and over again. No, not just worlds, universes. He couldn't recognize them, the stares imploding, the planets being drained dry, and he stalled in the center of the room, watching, as it happened over and over again. And he waited, wanting to see if his world was being subjected to the same thing. He remembered vaguely the letter he had gotten when he had woken up--figured it was just a ploy, a lie to get him to sit down and behave. Now, he was not so sure.




B. Floor Eleven


The open air was a nice change to the cooped up tower, but it was missing something--it wasn't quite the same as his home had been. Perhaps it was the air, or the fact that the room didn't seem exactly physically possible (despite the fact that he was in it, and therefore it had to be). At the very least, there were flowers, and he did like flowers, despite them not being his, and the lake made a pretty sight (if not a tad confusing).

Either way, it was better than sitting inside, by a long shot, and the edges of the room were open. He wondered vaguely if he could get out of the tower that way--after all, he had survived bigger jumps before. A broken leg was a small price to pay for getting out of the tower. Though even as he mused on this, he knew it likely wouldn't work--and if it didn't, he would have a broken limb to contend with while being trapped. Perhaps he could find another nation, and get them to take the plunge--see what happened.

Romeo frowned as he thought but then shook his head, "I haven't met them yet, but if I do I will tell them you are looking for them!"

Ivan gave a tiny smile, nodding slowly. "I would be liking that... I am wanting to make sure they are being alright," he replied, shrugging slightly.

Romeo grinned and nodded, "I hope they are! Are you friends with all the country people?"

Ivan paused for a moment. Friends? With all of the countries? Well, he couldn't say all of them... but he was sure all of them wanted to be his friend. And that was good enough for him, and he nodded. "Mostly, I am thinking," he replied, and gave a sheepish smile. "And if they are not, they should be being!"

Romeo smiled and nodded, "I think everyone should be friends too sir! It would be nicer if everyone got on!"

Ivan smiled a little brightly, nodding and relaxing. "Da, da, I am thinking so. That is being my hope when every country is being mine!"

"Every country is being yours?" Romeo frowned, "What do you mean sir?"

"Ah, I am meaning that it would be being very nice to have a big house again, filled with people," he replied, and looked thoughtful. "Right now my house is big, but there is only being me in it."

Romeo blinked in a confused manner. "Did people used to live with you? Where did they go sir?"

"Mmm, da! My house used to be very full!" he replied and smiled slightly, tipping his head to the side. "Ahh... They went in my home. They had their own rooms. I was a very good host! But... then they were leaving.... but ahh, they will be back. I am just having to take them back first!"

Romeo totally misses the point

"Take them? Maybe they just wanted to go back to their home sir, to see their family. They might come visit." He felt bad that Russia was lonely but he didn't think forcing people to live with you was a good idea.

Ivan shook his head slightly. "But they are not coming to visit me. It has been ten years since they are leaving. And all their families were being mine too," he replied, pouting a little. "I took very good care of them. They should be wanting to stay."

That was sad, Romeo wondered why Russia's friends didn't want to go and visit him. Ten years was a long time. "Maybe you could go and visit them instead sir?"

Ivan gave a tiny shrug. "They do not always like me visiting. And my sisters are hard to visit. Lithuania too--his people do not like me speaking Russian very much..." He frowned a little.

"They don't sound like very nice friends sir!" He would be really happy if any of his friends came to Sonogno to visit him. "Why don't they like you speaking Russian? Can you not speak Lithuanian sir?"

Ivan frowned, not really knowing how to answer this first part. He thought his friends had been nice, but... but they had indeed left him alone. He supposed they just needed to be taught that that was not okay.... Eventually that is. "Ah, I am not being sure... I suppose it is just added from being in my home...."

He smiled, looking thoughtful and then shook his head. "No. I cannot speak much of their languages at all."

A pause, then. "But that is okay. Sometime soon they will be back in my house. After I am out of tower. And I will have busy house again!" He leaned in, going to ruffle the other's hair.

"Maybe if you learn they will be nicer. Maybe they find Russian hard so if you speak in their languages they might find it easier." He frowned again and flinched as the man's hand came towards his head. "Sir, I don't think it's very nice to make them come and live with you if they don't want to. Even if it was mean of them to not be friends with you any more."

"Nyet... They know Russian. It was all that was being spoken in my house before," he replied, and frowned but nodded, looking thoughtful, listening to the other's words. "Ah.... you are thinking so? But it was just them making a mistake. I am sure they want to live with me again, they were just being silly once and do not know how to be coming back, because they are being afraid to be making mistake again..." Convoluted logic as it might be, it was his logic none-the-less. But he was listening to Romeo and that was a good sign.

"Maybe you should try and learn some of their languages and then go and talk to them. Ask them why they don't want to live with you and you might be able to find a solution. Together!" Because working together was important! "I hope that you all make friends again!"

Ivan seemed to think about this for a long moment, tapping his chin, and then smiling slightly. "You are thinking this will be working? I can be learning language... Ah.... It should not be being that difficult..." he replied, thoughtful. "I hope we can be too... I miss having a house that is being very full... but soon. Maybe it can be working, and I can be getting them back soon, da?"

"I am sure it will work sir! Maybe you could look in the library! There might be some books there to teach you other langages!" Romeo smiled, he hoped that it worked and that Russia was able to make friends again, because he didn't want him to be lonely.

Ivan looked thoughtful, not wanting to do such a thing but... if it would get them to be his friends again, he could at least pretend to like their languages (but really, Russian was better and they ought to learn that already). "Mmm. I can be looking. Maybe we could be learning together? Is always nicer together~ And you are seeming like very nice boy," he replied, and smiled a little, not wanting to lose the company.

Romeo smiled and nodded, "I never learnt another language before but it could be fun to try!" He smiled again, he wanted so much to help mister Russia make friends again, he didn't like to think he was longely. "Let's go to the library sir and see!"

Ivan nodded a little, standing up, offering the other a hand up, a little smile on his face, nodding, liking this idea, and liking it very much. "Da, da. Pozhaluista. And other languages are not being too hard to be learning. They are just hassle."

Romeo jumped to his feet and followed the man with a smile, "I like learning things sir!" He didn't think learning was a hassel, not even when it was really hard.
