Characters: Count Bleck ([personal profile] bleh_heh_heh_bleck), OPEN
Setting: Library
Format: Starting with prose but will switch
Summary: Bleck is just searching through books, seeing if he can find anything interesting.
Warnings: None

The books in the library were all available to him. All but the ones that were removed by the administrators. And Bleck didn't mind that. For now. No, he was focusing on magic, dark magic. Spells that hadn't been available in his dimension before he'd killed his people.

He actually felt a bit guilty about that now, but not guilty enough to regret it. No, Count Bleck regretted nothing but allowing his father to take Timpani from him. So he'll be sitting in the library, a pile of books nearby. And the Dark Prognosticus floating alongside him, as always. As focused as he appeared though, he wasn't. He was thinking of a certain human woman he thought was dead, might not be, but most likely is.

"Timpani..."

He crept a bit closer, a few books under his arm; were the Count to inspect the spines or covers, he'd find them all to be large and deeply uninteresting volumes on the finer points of mechanics. "...It's difficult not to in this environment, isn't it?" Especially with one's life governed completely by rules and regulations that basically didn't extend past their home planet. It makes for one confused Equius at the end of the day, and apparently one wistful Count Bleck as well.

"I've noticed that, also." He didn't really like thinking too much about the past; it brought up far too many questions that he didn't want or know how to answer. "But being separated from the world like this... it's only natural to want to remember what it was like, and then..."

"The Void?" The word itself wasn't as relevant to his interests as it would be to a certain alternate-universe version, but it still rung true. "Your world was destroyed beforehand as well, then?"
geometry: <lj user=murkrows> (> Equius: Listen.)

Yeah, this tower seems to really like bothering people. Honestly. They're supposed to have drones or something for this, do these people never sort the books? "...I'm sorry," he said after a moment. "Ours, um... we destroyed it ourselves, as a sort of prerequisite for something we were destined to do. There was no avoiding that, either."
geometry: <lj user=murkrows> (> Equius: Listen.)

Oh, well then. "...Really? Um, have you ever heard of something called Sburb?" Sburb's identity changed from world to world -- in one it was a computer game, in another it was a bunch of runes that had to be decoded -- but at the end of the day it always led to the world's destruction. It could be that this Void was some kind of alternate terminology for what happened within the game.

"Oh, um, alright." He glanced down and then back at the Count, deciding that since he didn't seem to be a troll, there wasn't really any need to ask his permission before sitting. So he pulled up a chair; Equius foresaw a long, complicated conversation in the future. "Well, uh, Sburb is... it changes from world to world, really, its physical form. But it is a game whose purpose is to... renew worlds, you could say. When one world gets too old, Sburb is released somewhere into it, and eventually, it finds some players. I've only seen two sessions, but in one there was four players and in the other there was twelve, so it must vary. Um... basically, what happens is the old world is destroyed at the beginning of the game, and then a new one is created at the end of it. You see?"

"Oh, then it's more akin to the average, um, execution for world destruction." Even though it was kind of an awkward word. If only Equius had learned about 'clichés'. "Why did you destroy yours, then?"
geometry: <lj user=murkrows> (> Equius: Become subsequently confused.)

[personal profile] geometry 2012-08-08 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
...Wait. Equius was silent for a moment, trying to figure that last sentence out -- even for someone raised in the nasty parts of troll society, it seemed a bit extreme. He missed something there. So something was stolen from this Count... and he needed to destroy the entire universe to compensate? "What in the worlds was taken from you, to warrant their demise?"

thought I replied to this, sorry! u_u

"A human girl?" Well, well. Then this... whatever-he-is must have come from a planet where humans and, ahem, his species lived together. In the same physical space, not just over an Internet connection like Alternia and Earth could boast. It seemed that the Count was lost in thought, though, so Equius held his tongue for all the other questions he had -- at least until he'd come back out of his thoughts.

"The only human on your planet?" How had one human come to his universe and not the rest of them? Humans didn't have any means of inter-planetary travel, did they?

"...Oh, I see... god. I'm sorry." Whoops, there goes the guilt.

"I suppose." Equius set down the stack of books that he'd been holding in his lap up until this point, and began to leaf through them. This was no leisure reading; he's clearly looking for something.
