[Thief of Heart? Pretty much the stupidest title Terezi has ever heard in her entire life. Ever. And there is no way he can make this a decent date. He might have fancy blue blood, but he's still Karkat, right?

Right.

She is so not ready to be wooed.]

[She grins.]

Don't worry. I'll protect you!

Great, I'm doomed.

[She gives him a little shove.]

You are such a douchebag!

[A light scoff.]

And grass is green.

[Siiigh. She doesn't even bother responding, and as they continue farther into the room, the ceiling begins to lower.]

Weeeiird.

[But she's still going to try to keep going.]

[Karkat is not liking this being forced to duck thing. The lower to the ground he gets, the more he resists Terezi. At one point, he jumps when he feels something run passed him, a giggle echoing in his ear.]

--what the fuck was that? Tell me you heard that.

[She stops dead when she hears the giggle, tensing and listening very, very carefully. Nothing. She can't even smell anyone else near them.]

I heard it.

[It's completely silent now, but she still isn't moving. She couldn't smell those weird phantom things either. What if that's what this is?]

Did you see anything?

[Trying to back up, heartbeat quickening.]

No. I can't fucking see, I can't hear, I can't--

[Another giggle causes him to press against the wall.]

[Her grip on his hand tightens and she follows.]

Calm down. Jegus.

[But she's getting pretty freaked out now, too. Even if this isn't her Karkat, it's still Karkat, and her first instinct is to comfort him when he's being a wriggler, so she squeezes his hand again.]

It's fine.

We should go back. Seriously.

[But he's following. Closely.]

Just a little farther, okay?

[She stops, but gives his hand a little tug. She isn't horrible enough to force him.]

[NOISE OF DISCONTENT but he's Karkat fucking Vantas, no way is he going to be a wriggler in front of oh god there's the giggling again what if it tries to kill them where he can't move oh fuck oh fuck.]

The fuck is with this room, anyway???

I don't know. I don't smell anything! I wonder if someone is actually in here.

[Oh look, the ceiling is dipping lower. She's nearly bent double now.]

Helllooo! Is anyone here?

[Another grumble when he's forced to bent lower. He pauses only to try and straight and push the ceiling up.]

This is humiliating.

[NOT TO MENTION TERRIFYING???]

Shhh. It's an adventure!

[Oops, this ceiling is getting really low. Terezi drops to her hands and knees automatically, not bothering to check if Karkat is still following.]

How is getting forced to the fucking ground an adventure???

[Once he get's pushed to his hands and knees, he can't take it anymore. He lets himself get dragged, pupils shrinking a bit in fear.

No. He can do this. HE CAN FUCKING DO THIS--]

It's getting louder.

[She glances over her shoulder, not that it does much good. Okay, this is a little scary, but she's at a pretty high advantage here. The flashes of light and suffocating darkness have no affect on her. Really, it's just a bunch of random giggling and a sloping ceiling.]

We'll be fine! I promise.

[She drops to her belly and is practically forced to wriggle through the last section of the room.]

[Karkat follows until he bumps into her and a flash of light whizzes passed his head.]

NOOOOOOOOPE. NUH UH. Oh man.

[That hand she was holding? He's clinging now.]

[She squeezes back automatically, forcing herself another foot or so forward before realizing there's absolutely no way she can go any farther.]

Uggghhh, lame! See? I told you.

[She's just beginning to wonder how she's going to turn around and get back to the stairs when she feels a very real hand closing around her ankle. Terezi doesn't have time to cry out, or gasp, or even comprehend what exactly is happening before she's being ripped away towards the other side of the room.]

[When he feels Terezi get ripped away from him, there is an audible gasp from him and a 'thud' as he hits the ground after being shoved aside.]

Terez--NO NO NO FUCK. FUCK. FUCK.

[There is audible screaming as he's dragged straight back toward the other side of the room, nails clawing for anything he can reach, be it the hand on his ankle or the walls or the floor.

When he's deposited back into the light, he scrambles backwards until he comes in contact with the wall of the staircase, pupils shrunk into the back of his eyes, lungs expanding and collapsing far too fast to be healthy.

His grip is white-knuckle against the stairs, and Karkat will now busy himself with trying to steady his breathing.]

[So much for Karkat being a wriggler. Terezi is gasping for breath herself, and her first instinct is to grab for him again, to make sure he's there, to make sure that thing didn't drag him off somewhere else.

She finds his arm and holds on tight. She doesn't bother to steady her breathing, and when she speaks, her voice comes out much higher and shakier than usual.]

Karkat?

[Still hyperventilating, but when her grip finds him, he finds her right back. There's no speech from him right away and his hand automatically finds his own throat.

Strangely enough, the gesture seems to comfort him. A brief shudder runs down his spine, but after that, he can look at her with a normal (though still very uneasy) expression.]

What the fuck...

[She stumbles to her feet, practically yanking on his arm as she backs towards the stairs.]

I don't like this floor. Let's go.

[Yup, fearless legislacerator Terezi is practically pleading.]

[No need to ask him twice. He doesn't take his eyes off the room, as if he's afraid something will leap out toward them.]

Y-yeah. Not much of a fan myself--

[His breathing is still heavy, his hands are shaking, and there is likely a fresher scent of blueberries where Terezi is concerned. He has made absolutely certain not to be overly emotional here, but he couldn't stop the initial glaze of fear over his eyes.]
