[Open] What a lovely day for a picnic~

Characters: Disciple, Dolorosa, and open to anybody!
Setting: Floor Twenty-Five
Format: We're comfortable with any format you decide to put up.
Summary: Dolorosa & Disciple decide they would like a nice time away from it all, so why not have a nice picnic? If you would like something cooked over an open fire, Di will happily cook it for you!
Warnings: Fire and smoke, but only if you are really careless when playing out in the open.

After running to get to this peaceful floor, Disciple happily runs out in the open to floor 25. She falls instantly on the grass and rolls in it as Dolorosa quietly sets up the big blanket and the food. Embarrassed that she wasn't helping out, Disciple gets up and does her fair share by setting up a small fire to cook on.

When done, they both smile at their accomplishment and relax.

Dolorosa pours a cup of tea, having to lean all the way across the blanket to hand it to Rose. Luckily, she's tall enough to manage it easily enough.

"And what sort of unfathomable catastrophe do you expect from me?"

"Why go spoil the surprise and give you ideas? It's your fucking meltdown, the least you can do is come up with something creative by yourself."

She smirks a little, swirling the tea around once before taking a small sip. It didn't really matter how it tasted - Rose was used to consuming caffeinated beverages to keep herself up thanks to her friends' wonky timezones back home.

It was the same green tea they had in the cafeteria, as they had no other options. They'd slightly sweetened this batch, at least. "I hope you would excuse me if I instead elect to forego the maneuver entirely. Heaven knows this Tower could do with some semblance of stability." And she had already witnessed too many others going through similar breakdowns recently. This picnic was partly to help take her mind off of it.

"Well, if you want to be a fucking stick in the mud I can't stop you."

Rose is obviously kidding from her tone, although she honestly agrees with Dolorosa's sentiments; there's been enough chaos (personal and Tower-wise) to practically crack her in half. She was better than that, of course, but the strain was still bothersome.

And what better way to relieve that strain than to discuss it flippantly over tea? "Well, you are correct in that no one enjoys the company of one who would so rudely disregard the encroaching madness that is spreading among our neighbors! Our mutual insistence in neglecting to join in the fun is doubtlessly considered horrifically rude."

There really wasn't a better way, obviously. Sardonic mockery and belittling the things that frightened them were practically patented Strider coping methods by this point.

"It really is a bitch move to pull. I can get away with it since I'm a rotten fucker all around, but you've really got no excuse."

As long as Dolorosa isn't sued for encroaching on that territory. "Perhaps I should draft a formal apology to ease their discomfort, though it would feel an empty offer if I did not follow through with some correction to my actions."

"Nah, that's just too much fucking effort for something they probably won't read anyway. What you should do is sit outside their door crying for a few days to show them that you're really sorry."

Striders don't sue, they settle out of court. Usually with fights.

"If one is excessive effort, perhaps replacing it with a greater effort would be worse. Why do that when you could instead insert one segment of the message to have very dire information? Not quite an incentive to read as a penalty for failing to do so." Virgos, on the other hand, you have to be careful with. They like to think of themselves as crafty.

"You'd have to actually have important information to begin with. Considering the way that trauma's typically on the breakfast menu around here that'd be kind of fucking difficult to do."

Those poor naive Virgos. Maybe someday they'll learn better.

"This is true. Perhaps it should be a hidden kindness which will be missed otherwise, and the punishment can be a very untoward mood for the gift having been rejected."

But they never will. It's kind of sad, really.

"Acting like a pissy girlfriend? That's dumb as shit."

It really, really is. One of the great tragedies of our time.

And there it is, the illusion shattered.

She placed a hand to her heart with a smile, bowing her head contritely. "Too much? You'll have to forgive me, I'm not actually very good at this."
restitchtime: (☄ you will squeeze the life out of me)

[personal profile] restitchtime 2012-09-09 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
"You're really not, but I think I'm not supposed to give you as much shit about that since you're a beginner."

Rose chuckles, obviously not very interesting in giving her any grief about it at all. It's nice to just have a harmless back and forth for once.

It's far easier when you don't try to win, but Dolorosa is an adult. She's doesn't need to be better at Rose at what she imagines could be one of the younger girl's specialties, and she's fonder of collaboration than competition anyway.

"Well, then it's to my benefit that I find myself in the presence of an expert! Taking a bow is a little different to accomplish from my height, but I would still be willing to learn at your feet."
restitchtime: (☄ I won't let you bury it)

[personal profile] restitchtime 2012-09-09 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"Best way to learn is through example, which unfortunately means in this case you'd be eating a lot of fucking dirt."

Being a natural psycho competitor unfortunately means that Rose has difficulty not trying to be better at things than people, especially when it seems to be a particular skill of theirs. Luckily she's not looking for that at the moment, although it's difficult to tell whether or not she's kidding about the experiences those under her tutelage would suffer.
